Sarakina Apartments

We had a 2 week stay in October at the Sarakina, two adults and three children. The accommodation was excellent, being both spacious and clean. The kitchen in the apartment was well sized and equipped. The owner was very welcoming and the cleaning lady was a treasure and helped us every day to improve our Greek!
The access to the Sarakina we felt was well explained in the material we saw, and while it is around a 15 minute walk to the town, the country road is adequate and has streetlights. At the same time local driving habits did not encourage us to walk it often at night! We welcomed the peaceful location and the beautiful views across the countryside.
The owners ran the courtesy bus down to Laganas in the morning at 11am and in the early evening between 6 & 6.30 and 10 & 10.30 pm. Alternatively the set taxi rate of 6 euros wasn't too bad. Our only (minor) complaint was that the taverna next door to the apartments had closed for the season the day before we arrived. Our youngsters had a great time in the pool and Carrie at the pool bar kept us supplied with toasties and refreshments.
All in all a fine place to stay if you don't want to be too close to the town, yet near enough to all amenities. (We did hear that the owner intends to install a small supermarket on site in the next couple of years which would certainly make the Sarakina more self sufficient.) Definitely highly recommended.
