I just spent 3 weeks in the Atlantis Hotel in Laganas. I found it faultless and would not hesitate to stay there again. The hotel in my mind is very underated and is clean, well run, and has pleasant staff. The rooms are well decorated and the the pool area is well... more

Just got back from Laganas where I went with two mates (three lads). Have to say you must be mad if you're a couple and you want to come to this resort, especially at this time of the summer (July-August). Its basically a daily supply of sun-shots-***!!! Also, why would you... more

Do not stay here unless you are a group of lads/girls away for clubbing holiday
I booked a two week stay in the Zante Atlantis in July 2007 with my boyfriend and ended up staying there only one night!!! We booked this hotel as it stated in the thompson brochure that it was recommend for couples and families, a relaxing hotel away from the party scene of Lagana yet close enough to all local amenities. What we got was a hotel full to the brim with gangs of lads and girls (some looking no older than 14) who stayed up ALL night banging on doors and shouting and took over the entire pool in the day. My boyfriend and I knew immediately this was not the place for us....perhaps if with a group of friends on a clubbing holiday it may have been okay. We booked ourselves into a hotel in nearby Kalamaki on our first day there, and spent all our spending money on that. But it was worth it though to escape the insanity that was Lagana, even if we did live on a mere boiled egg each for breakfast and minimal spending money. We had a great holiday overall in Kalamaki where we met another couple and enjoyed peaceful days by the pool and excursions. The only shame is that it cost us £600 to realise Lagana was not the place for us (and that the Zante Atlantis was completely different to how it was advertised). Upon our return i did write a letter to Thompson demanding some form of refund for there false advertising but the words blood and stone come quickly to mind! Ah well.....you live and learn! I just hope this review may stop another young couple looking for a quiet holiday of sun, sea and relaxation from making the mistake of going to Lagana or indeed the Zante Atlantis.
Terrible; unfreindly staff
arrived at the hotel and was told to take cases up a ramp which was really steep and the carpet was torn in places making the ramp very slippy, the room we were given was ok, apart from the smoke alarm was above the cooker so everytime you made a meal the fire alarm went off in the whole building, which it did every morning at 8am, then again at night sometimes very late which woke the kids, the cleaners only came once in the 7 days we were there, had to clean all the bath and wash the towels out myself, and hang them on the balcony, the kids swimming pool was dangerous, it was very small and if there was more than two kids in then they were at risk of banging their heads on the side, the staff were unfriendly, if you went to the bar for a drink you had to get your own, and when you ordered food you had to go fetch it when it was cooked, this is the worse place ive ever stayed and will never be going again. george was the man who owened the mini market next door and he was the nicest person we met on this holiday. please look elsewhere before booking hear!!!!!
terrible , ruined my honeymoon
As I work for a travel agency , I am usually very careful in the property I choose to stay in . This got pretty good reviews and looked very nice in the brochure. As this was my honeymoon , we had requested a double room and had put on the rooming list it was our honeymoon. When we arrived , we were given 2 single beds. Iwent to reception and was told they were very sorry , didnt know what had happened but nothing they could do as they were full. Then they told me they did have a double room but with no balcony. We said that would be fine, the room was a little small but we didnt intend on spending too much time in it. They said we could move on the friday (we checked in on monday). On the wednesday we decided to cook in our room as we were going to kefalonia early in the morning . The hob didnt work!! But to their credit they did change it straight away. On the friday we had been out on a trip and when we arrived back no one on reception asked if we wanted to still change rooms and we were so tired we decided we couldnt be bothered to change anyway. I wish we had!!! At 5am on Sunday the heavens opened and our room in the eaves turned into an indoor pool, i counted 5 leaks, everything got soaked. So we moved rooms to one with 2 single beds and no balcony!! We then moved again to a room with a balcony and 2 single beds. I asked reception , due to all the hassle could we keep the room until we left on our transfer at 6pm the next day and was told twice yes. Monday morning we were kicked out of our room at 1030 , with the receptionist saying she didnt understand me. Dont go to this property , they ruined my honeymoon.
Great last minute deal!
I booked this holiday with my fiance quite late in the summer looking for a cheap and cheerful holiday....and it was! There was not too many reviews i could find online, but the Zante Atlantis does have a website ([--]atlantiszante.gr). There are a lot of pictures which do sum up this hotel. The good this about the Zante Atlantis is the location. We didn't book this as a clubbing holiday, but a holiday we could relax and use the local amenities. Lucky for anyone who goes here there are loads!! The Atlantis is tucked away in a quiet road off a nearby strip which has lots of restaurants and pubs. We didn't count, but there must be 20-30 restaurants before you hit the main strip! The hotel itself was nice enough for our needs. The rooms were quite basic, but most tend to be on greek islands. The kitchen area was very basic but with so many restaurants nearby you probably won't use it anyway. Beds aren't the most comfty, but with a few beers you won't notice them. We had a ground floor apartment where you still have a balcony, but the pool is slightly above you. If you can get a 2nd floor appartment or above great! The pool was small, but nice! It did the job after being in the sun. The pool bar was very nice too. Good quick food and drinks. The only minor negative thing i would have to say was the staff. Very rude and probably best to ignore. You'll know what i mean if you've stayed here. You will probably fing the reception man sitting on the sofa in reception watching tv! The bar lady didn't say a word either, especially when your paying for food and drinks. Don't be put off by this! All in all..... very nice, great location and cheap. Must do shipwreck cove tour and kefalonia tour with thomson. If i was ever to go back to zakynthos, which i don't think i would as there are so many greek islands, i would stay at the Zante Atlantis again.
Excellent Hotel
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Zante Atlantis for a week in Sept 2007. All I can say is that it was absolutely excellent. I have been to Greece and the Greek Islands many times, and am fully aware how basic the accomodation can be... This was far from it. Rated by Thomson as a 3 star, I would easily give it 4, if not more. The room was lovely, clean and tidy. It had facilities I have never had in rooms in Greece before, such as a TV and shower head holder and curtain! The food in the pool bar during the day was lovely, and not too overpriced. The drinks are a little pricey in the pool bar however. The pool area was nice with plenty of sunbeds. It does have rather a lot of shaded areas too, which could be a plus or minus depending on how much sun you want to soak up! The owner of the hotel and all the staff were very friendly, and welcomed us with open arms. The location was excellent for our needs, a short walk to the main strip of Laganas, with plenty of restaraunts and bars at the end of the street. Lively areas are easily accessible, whilst the hotel itself is tucked away at the back of the main strip and is therefore in a nice and quiet location. The beach was a walkable distance away, but a mild trek in the sun. Overrall our holiday was excellent Our rep, Leigh, was very helpful and friendly. The resort, hotel, location and flight times were great. Would definitely recommend Zante to others, especially this hotel.
Not recommended
My husband and I went the begining of June we are a young couple so thought the hotel sounded like it was in a good location and had nice facilities and all the other reviews seemed good. The hotel wasn't as good as we were expecting, overall it could have been a lot worse but there were a lot of things that really should have been better. The room wasn't too bad but was not very clean the floors were not swept once in the two weeks we were there so became filthy the bathroom looked like it had never seen bleach before! the toilet was disgusting. There was not a proper shower just a head attachment in the bath but no hook to put it up on or shower curtain so difficult to shower properly and it was pretty much impossible to have a bath as it was so small. The pool was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures, there were not enough sunbeds and half of them were broken, the ones that weren't were in the shade most of the day as there was a lot of palm trees and parasols in the way and the way the hotel was so close the pool shaded a lot of them. We ended up using the pool for the vivian hotel just down the road as most of the hotels welcome everyone as long as you don't bring your own food. The pool for the Vivian was a lot bigger and when we arrived the hotel hadn't fully opened so we practically had the whole pool to ourselves. Although the second week it opened and is an escapades hotel so it got very busy. The resort wasn't a place we would go back to as there was mostly tacky souvenier shops and although there were a lot of restuarants most of them were not good - saying that they specialise in Greece, italian and Mexican! In reality they didn't specialise in anything! We did find a couple of nice restuarants just not many. I think the resort would be a great place for party goers as it seemed to cater for an 18-30 clientele with lots of trendy bars
Lovely place
Hotel is lovely, Nikos and his wife are welcoming and helpful, recommended a lovely restaurant whose name escapes me but we went there 4 times in 2 weeks. Nikos will give you a little blue business card if you ask him to recommend a restaurant. Go there, food fantastic and great value and staff really nice. Atlantis Hotel is rather noisy at night when there's entertainment, which is most nights, but if you like Elvis impersonators, tribute bands and karaoke you're laughing. When you're booking, ask for a high floor. We did this and were fine but the ground floor apartments are actually below ground level and people round the pool can see straight into your room unless curtains closed all the time. Lots of restaurants, bars etc but many many touts competing to get you into their place, difficult to walk by without getting hassled. All in all, really fab holiday.
The zante atlantis...
Just got back last week from a weeks stay at the atlantis. we were a group of 9 girls and the hotel was great for us, but i wouldnt say it was suitable for children (at least not at the time we were there) it was full of big groups. watch out for Miko (i think his name is) he carrys around a big metal pole to make sure no one goes brings any one back to the hotel at night and he's not afraid to use it! The smoke alarms did go off at random times, but it never really bothered us. The food from the hotel was alrite, it was cheap enough but it wasnt anything special, the beans were generally cold and the mushrooms were horrible! It was always easy enough to get sunbeds, probably because the other guests didnt get up until after lunch. The safety deposit boxes were cheap i think they were only about 15 euros for the week, but they were all kept in reception which we werent sure about at first, but it was safe enough because ther was 24 hour reception. They take passports as insurance deposits when you first arrive and keep them behind the reception where anyone could get them really. we thought they had lost one of friends passports because the woman on reception that day had no idea what she was doing and couldnt find her passport newher which was a bit worrying! We didnt bother with the air conditioning as we found it was cool enough at night, and we didnt spend that much time in our rooms, we were only there wen we were getting ready and sleeping for a couple of hours. Some friends who had air conditioning in their room found that it was too cold a lot of the time and had to sleep with extra blankets on their beds. Laganas itself is really busy, and has lots of good bars and clubs. we were only there for a week so we didnt really get chance to see them all, we tended to stick to our favourites. Go to Argo's for fishbowls to start your night off its only 25 euros for two! I also liked wackabout and zeros. There are loads of workers trying to get u into their bars but its to b expected when your in those kinds of places, just be nice to them and say your meeting people somewhere else if you don't want to go in. We just liked them for the free stickers! Don't go to the ministry of sound night at amnesia if there is one there while you're away, its a rip off and it was empty when we went! We did go to the baywatch beach party on our last night which was great, its 35 euros but its a free bar and thers a bbq as well. The staff walk round and pour drink down you neck (literally) be careful though, the shots are 40% and its not easy to keep track of how many you've had! Some of our friends went to another party on an island that i can't remember the name of, they said it was good, but they were promised a free bar and when they got there it turns out they sed it was 'three' euros a drink, not 'free' drinks. the man that tries to sell it to you is awful if you see him either say yes to the thing straight away or tell him where to go, you'll not miss him he has long greasy hair and rides around on his moped topless which isnt a pretty sight. Anyway, the atlantis hotel was great and i would go back again, the only reason i didnt give it ten out of ten was because of the little things like the security guard and the alarms going off! enjoy your holiday! xx
Atlantis Hotel, Excellent
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are clean, simple yet effective & we'll furnished. Don't go here expecting the Ritz but if you want a nice, relaxing, inexpensive holiday, the Atlantis is for you. The pool area is hidden away from the roads nicely, unlike most other hotels in Laganas, and the shape of the hotel insures you get sun from 9am to 6pm at least. The pool surrounds are always clean with plenty of sunloungers, and, optional umbrellas if you need to escape the heat. What will truly make your holiday is the owners & staff at the Atlantis. From the moment they greeted us on arrival, to when the waved us off, they couldn't have been more hospitable. If we return to Zante in the future we will only be going to one hotel, The Atlantis.
Nice and neat hotel
Stayed at the Zante Atlantis for a week with teenage daughter and were pleasantly surprised by the location close enough to the Strip but fairly quiet at night apart from the thumping music from the bar. Fortunatley the metal shutters and the fact that we were on the other side of the hotel meant it did not keep us up. The rooms are a fair size for 2 would be a bit cramped with 3 and though there is a 2 ring unit toaster and kettle there was a limited amount of cutlery and utensils. It was nice to hava fridge and though the temps were high 30's we did not need the A/C on as the room kept very cool. Our room was lower level below the lip of the pool and whether it was the fact that it was early season or being low down the room was very damp. We ended up moving our clothes out of the wardrobe and airing them each day outside which was OK. The pool was adequate dn the pool bar food reasonable. The staff on reception were brilliant and any problems resolved immediately. We tended to use the pool and bar across the road at the hotel Vivian where there was a bigger pool and a quieter ambience and access was free. The resort of Laganas is OK if you are not right on the strip lots of shops and plenty supermarkets etc. The beach is nicer the nearer to Kalamaki you go and the water ideal for kids being so shallow and clear. The Island Boat trip was excellent a really nice if long day out and the time spent on Shipwreck beach great. Easy access to all parts of the island via local bus or taxi. Locals really friendly and I would go again but perhaps try another resort.
