We arrived at this hotel after a long flight. We were amazed by the outstanding reception building. I have to say this hotel deserves its 5 star plus status. The breakfast is excellent, the staff are curtious. We had a tour of the facility and even had a 20 minute... more

My wife and myself have just returned after spending 2 weeks at this stunning hotel. Everything was how we dreamt it would be. The grounds were well kept, grass cut short, pools clean as well as the surrounding areas. The staff couldn't be more helpful, polite and there for... more

I recently stayed at the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque with my mother and 2 young children. Arriving at the hotel at midnight we were led through a maze of corridors to our suite, which was only accessible down 2 flights of steep steps - a nightmare with a pram. I indicated... more

Superb! - at every level
This is possibly the best hotel I have stayed in taking everything into account. On arrival I was unhappy with my Junior Suite as I was expecting a seperate lounge area. Without the slightest delay I was upgraded to a Villa - which was magnificent! The accommodation is spacious and well designed, every little detail has been thought of and included. The public areas were awe inspiring - from the photos I was expecting somewhere a little on the 'brash' side - but no! it was tasteful, convenient and relaxing. Food in all the restaurants we tried was superb - the best being the Casa del Lago. Bars and nighlife was varied and stylish - excellent entertainment every night . Without a doubt in my mind - it was the service that made this Hotels stand out. At all levels - from the welcome at Reception - service in the bars and restaurants - to housekeeping - the level was very professional - but also incredibly friendly. The beach area was beautiful and well equipped with stylish sunshades and loungers. This is a 5 star plus hotel - and lives up to it - including the prices which are not for the feint hearted
Best Experience Ever
I took my mother to the Bahia Del Duque resort to celebrate her birthday and I can soundly say that it was a birthday she will never forget. The staff can only be described as second to none in every aspect of the service we received. Multi Lingual, attentive, courteous, each member of the staff exceeded our expectations by far and went above and beyond their roles to help us in any way they could. There was nothing this hotel couldn't offer, beach location, a stones throw away from all the shops in the area, both heated and sea water swimming pools, fantastic evening entertainment, delicious food and decor that is beyond your wildest imagination. Forget about self catering apartments from now on. The Bahia Del Duque is worth every penny and more. We will definately be coming back!
Great resort, service didn't match up thou..
Myself and my husband stayed here for 5 days in October. The resort is very impressive if not a little large and disneyland'ish, we spent alot of time trying to find our way around for the first couple of days. The rooms were nice if not a little small. We didn't find the service that good, infact some of the staff were very rude, especially in the restaurant 'La Tasca', were they arrived at our table with the wrong drinks at least twice and when we pointed out that the drinks weren't ours our waitress stormed off instead of apologising!!!. On the plus side the breakfast buffet was amazing, well worth working up a good appetite for. Also the italian restaurant served up some delicious fare and the staff were very nice. Unfortunately their new ESpa is still not open. It is expensive enough but is very family orientated with mini disco's every nite. I would recommend it for families but maybe not for a quiet getaway for a couple.. A really nice italian restaurant just up to the right when you exit towards the beach, well worth a visit.
Unforgettable
Just returned from Spain.....this was the best resort that I have ever visited! We (the group) stayed in the Villas. The personal swimming pools were exactly what the doctor ordered. The staff was only a telephone call away and always arrived with a smile. The service was past remarkable. With resorts like Gran Bahia you realize why a vacation is needed. The Villas have various floor plans but all serve the same purpose. My villa was a duplex. I was very happy with the large wading bathtub. The entire master bathroom was outstanding european. The views of Tenerife were breathtaking! If you are in search of a classy, elegant and luxurious vacation destination, this is this place for you.
What a Resort!!!!
I stayed here for a long weekend in June and my only complaint was that it could not have lasted for so much longer. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, staff where on hand to deal with anything that came to mind. The architecture, layout and location of the resort leave you in amazement for some time. The room was so fresh and inviting with a great en suite, products and an amazing shower. Balcony gave a great view although some upgrading works where happening in the area and mixers where going from after 9 in the morning. As you wonder around the hotel it is only then that you get any idea to it's sheer size and amenities. The pools and lounging areas are excellent and so comfortable with enough room for everyone to find a special area. Breakfast had arrays of all types of food, pastries, fruit etc. We also had dinner and lunch during our stay and where more than impressed with the quality of food and service. I also took in a relaxation massage in the Spa - although the new ESPA Spa has not opened, I left my treatment more than happy. Overall I would highly recommend this resort and know for sure that I will be back soon.
Love the new villas
I had stayed at this hotel for the first time in march 2007 and much as i loved the hotel, the rooms were a bit on the small side and a bit dated. we went back in april this year, this time i had two small kids so we pushed the boat out and went for the villas. they were amazing!! we had our own pool, plus another prviate pool and sooo much space!! it really made a difference. the set up for kids is great and we wouldnt have ordinarily chosen to go back if it werent for our travel company, tots too, that deal only with top notch family hotels and they told me about the villas. we also organised car seats, sterilisers in the room and advance babysitting through them so i just relaxed when i was there (as much as you can with a 6 month old and a 2 year old. the icecream parlour on the promenade was great for the kids - definately worth eating at the cafe outside the hotel as the restaurants there can be a bit on the pricey side! all in all i recommend the villas and travel company, tots too if you are travelling with kids
The Villas - will be great when building work finished
Just returned from a week at the new Villas. Our villas was lovely - with a massive bath and rain shower. We think we were the first to stay in the villa as there were a few teething problems, but they were dealt with quickly. All the villas seemed built but not all were furnished so there was occasional drilling and maintenance noises throughout the day. The major problem though was the building work going on at the Spa. The Spa is next to the villa complex and is due to be completed in August. The building work is massive and the noise from this site was horrendous when sitting by the villas main pool. We are surprised that some people seem not to see this as a problem as it was incredibly intrusive - maybe they didn't sit by the pool? After paying a rather large sum to stay at the villas we didn't expect to be sitting next to a building site during the day - a good thing was that at least we knew when it was lunchtime as a loud siren went off to tell the building workers to down tools!!! Service was OK. The staff were friendly and well intentioned. However, they seemed a little unsure of what they were doing, but we think this is just because the villas are new. Would we go again - probably, but not until all building works are complete. We were led to believe the works were minor when we checked before we went. Such reassurances will be taken with a pinch of salt next time!
Lived up to its billing
We spent a week in one of the newly completed villas. The quality of the rooms, facilities and service was excellent. On arrival we were treated to champagne and chocolate dipped stawberries and lovely touches like this abounded throughout the week. Had a great meal in the new flagship restaurant, although one dinner in the Trattoria was poor. The resort is an oasis of quality. On the day of departure my wife felt unwell and the hotel were happy for us to remain in the villa until our departure transport arrived, well after checkout time. There is still on-going development of the spa on site and there is offsite work. It did not spoil the stay. The hotel was recommended to us by friends and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone else.
Luxury Holiday
We stayed there easter 2008. The room was very good. Most bathrooms in the hotel have been totally renovated the last 2 years, also the rooms have been brushed up. Service always excellent. Special service and afternoon tea in Casa Ducales where we had a room. The hotel has got a lot of restaurants, we recommend La Brasserie for good food and service, and for gourmets: Please try the new Las Acquas. We got a chance to try it before the official opening. The Degustation menu was just fantastic. The Chef has got a Michelin star from Madrid and deserves it. The english Sommelier had composed a Wine menu that fitted perfectly. The hotel and the garden area, swimmingpools are just beautiful. Breakfast is fantastic, for Spain extraordinary, no problem with a place at any time. In february 2008 the hotel cancelled the operation with the neighbour hotel and no they have no problems with overcrowding. Einar and Hanne Aas, Norway
new villas
new villas are wonderful but not completely finished as there is building work beening carried out, just in front of the villas. so its a bit noisey but if you can stand some disruption the villas luxury are well worth it. we spent 7 nights here and enjoyed it. just as good as the hotel but more private with own dip pools .
