Villa Las Tronas Hotel

A unique building in an equally unique location in Alghero. Perched on a small point in the harbour, this old manor evokes images of soires of the 20's and 30's. The service was just the way I like it; attentive but almost invisible. An average level of finish in our room prevents me from providing a higher rating.

ideal hotel for relaxing quality break, room, food, staff, pool and gardens all hit the spot !

I stayed here in august for a three night break with my husband,As soon as we arrived the hotel staff were polite and very efficient ,only having to hand passports over made the booking in part quick and painless.We were in a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the sea, fantastic views out of the large windows.The room was a bit on the small side but it had everthing we needed to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and the waiting staff helped with additional items which were cooked to order. We also ate at lunch time... more

We loved the hotel, the guest relations, the view (spectacular!), the nearby town of Alghero, the newspapers ordered for us, the food service, the rides up the coastline ... and ... did I mention the view? Wonderful experience.

If you want the atmosphere of an Italian palace, looking out to sea, listening to the waves lapping, or crashing –depending on whether the Mistral in May is still lingering- onto the rocks beneath, smelling the scent of the jasmine from the terrace, which surrounds the swimming pools, overlooking the sea then Las Tronas is for you! This hotel is one of those rare places in the world, where you feel as if you are in the middle of the ocean, yet have an ancient, historical city, Alghero, on your doorstep, a few minutes walk away! We stayed at the Las Tronas for a week in June. The holel is excellent. The service is very good and the standard of the rooms is also good. Do not expect a 5 star modern hotel, but if you want elegance in all things this hotel scores highly. Beautiful position on a rock overlooking the ocean, and secure parking in well tended grounds. The food in the hotel is very good, with an excellent selection at breakfast, and it is good value for dinner if a bit formal. This hotel is marvellous. Its situation is accessible to the town (10/15 minute walk) and is set out on its own piece of land in the bay. The sea views were the loveliest I have seen - and very unique. The grounds were beautifully presented and offered privacy when and where required. The pool was good too. Breakfast was good and the coffee exceptional. We didnt eat at the hotel but the dining room was beautiful and very busy so I am sure it was good. We'd initially booked in for 2 nights of our honeymoon but ended up staying a week so impressed were we by the hotel and staff. Our room at the rear overlooking the gardens was quiet, airy and bright. We awoke each day to the gentle sounds of fountains and birdsong and returned each day to a spotless room. All of the facilities were excellent including bath, shower and sundries. The staff were always courteous and very helpful without being fussy as is so often the case in 5 star hotels. Nice Hotel with a great location BUT!!!! Until the 1940’s Villa Las Tronas was the residence of the Italian Royal family and you can imagine how sophisticated and elegant it was during there day as it still retains some of the oldie worldly charm décor with the wall coverings and furnishings with but there was something lacking with the overall experience The Location is great perched on its own headland a few metres from the waters edge. Spent two nights in a park view room and enjoyed every minute of it. Arrived at 10.30am and although check in was not until 2pm the welcome could not have been better.After our bags were taken from us we were shon straight into the dining rom and given breakfast,,,,free!!
