Riviera Hotel

Very dark and depressing in the lobby. Staff as helpful as the Italians can be! Excellent location - on the seafront and the pool is great and very well kept. The rooms are very shabby, old fashioned and bizarre! trying stepping over a bidet to get to the toilet! (Room 59!) Would never rate it as a three star hotel, I feel that it is the pool that gives it this rating. Word of caution! I spent a week at this hotel with my husband and we both thought this was one of the friendliest hotels we have every stayed in. The rooms are quite basic, but are spotlessly clean. We had a room on the third floor overlooking the garden and pool area and with a partial sea view. From what I could see, the rooms with balconies overlooked the road and were possibly quite noisy. Firstly the good bits. The Hotel is certainly basic, but the English owner and staff are all very friendly and efficient. The whole building is kept very clean and the pool is great. Maybe not so good is the food, which is very "samey" at breakfast and a bit unimaginative at dinner, with Pizza and Omlette being offered every evening with 2 other choices. Now the not so good. We stayed there in September, and had a great time. The hotel is very basic, but ok for the price. The main benefit is the staff which are really friendly and helpful, and they speak English which always helps. The beach is literally 30 seconds away! It is a beatiful place!

Rooms are very small. My friend and I booked a twin room and it was like a UK 'box room' with two beds squeezed in - barely room for our suitcases....we had to pay extra to get a room with 'satnding space' plus extra again for a balcony. We didnt think it was goo value...nothing special

This was our second stay at the lovely Riveria hotel. The rooms have everything you need but are quite basic and since our last visit they have begun to update the furniture in the rooms and communal areas. The continental breakfast had also improved and was as good as any other European hotel we have stayed at. Although the hotel is close to the beach, we found ourselves spending most of the time by the pool which, like the rest of the hotel was very well kept and spotlessly clean! My boyfriend and I spent a week in the Hotel Riviera at the end of June. We found it to be a very pleasant hotel and perfect for what we were looking for. We paid 95 euros per night for a double room on the third floor with a sea view and a balcony, breakfast and air conditioning were also included. We booked directly with the hotel via email - they do all speak fluent English though so it would be fine to book by phone too. It's taken me a little while to register and get round to posting a review, but two friends & I had a great weekend in Alghero last September staying at the Riviera. The staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful and the rooms were very clean and comfortable, if no frills. Breakfast was fine but we ate out in the evenings so I can't comment on the dinner menu. The bar is good value. The hotel is a minute's walk from the long, sandy beach with pedalos to rent. I stayed at Riveria Hotel in May 206 for a long weekend. The staff were so very friendly and helpful, which made our stay so much nicer. The location of the hotel is excellent for the beach and about a 20 minute walk to the old town ( recommend ladies to wear sensible shoes, as I struggled in high heels one evening!! ). This hotel was absolutely fine. It was small and friendly and great value if you are on a budget. The holiday cost us £60 for the flight and £125 for the room with breakfast for three nights. Very good price. It was a 3* property and deserved this rating. The rooms were quite spacious, very clean and tidy, nice views from the room, with daily maid service. The bath was tiny and had a slope so not safe for kids or the disabled. The restaurant was quite large and was clean but the breakfast wasnt fantastic. There was a fair choice of food.... more
