" return visit to celebrate our... "
Submitted By: Mrs Ll Blacklock
return visit to celebrate our wedding, hotel informed of this prior to arrival but no effort made to make holiday special for us. we had requested a sea view, which we did not get and our twin beds were fixed in place.
alykes itself is a wonderful place to relax and there are lots of excellent eateries to choose from. The beach is beautiful, but not outside hotel, strip of sand with battered beds covered in towels from daft oclock.
The hotel itself is dated, rooms small and carpeted!!! Air con has a mind of its own and very noisy.
Overall, very dissapointed in hotel but resort fantastic, suggest u opt for self catering as eating out good.

" We stayed at the Astoria 25 years ago... "

We stayed at the Astoria 25 years ago on our honeymoon - the first year it opened. For our silver wedding we thought we'd go back and how glad we are we did! The hotel is still owned and run by the same the family, who greet the many returning holiday makers like long lost friends.
The hotel is a little bigger these days and the resort of Alykes has been developed around the bay but both retain their small & friendly feel. Although on b&b basis, (good breakfasts) we also ate often in the hotel's restaurant, both lunchtime and evening meals. Food is hot, fresh, cooked to order and beautifully served. All the waiting staff were great
We requested a sea view and were very pleased with our room, spacious, comfortable and very clean. The Astoria is right on the beach and we could hear the sea day and night...lovely! Hours spent on the loungers (cheaper than along the beach) were just bliss. No John, we certainly wont leave it another 25 years before we return again...can't wait!

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Astoria hotel Zante , it’s a lovely hotel, very friendly staff, they could not do enough for us, we went b/b, good choice, of food ,nice evening meals too if you want them.
Rooms basic, but very clean, fridge and coffee machine provided, hairdryer in bathroom. Also provided shower gel ,in container on wall and tissues for your use, these were replenished as used, towels changed every 2 days, and sheets every week.
Hotel is right on the beach, beautiful having your breakfast on the sea front ,what more could you ask for.
They have a library in the reception area.
We found the majority of the people staying there were between 50/70 so it’s a very quiet hotel, suit pensioners very well.
We will go back again, as it was a lovely relaxing holiday.

" For a quiet holiday, in a family run... "
Submitted By: happy lady
For a quiet holiday, in a family run hotel, there is none better. Situated 4 paces from the beach, in the quiet part of the village, with Great food, cooked by a family member, the rooms are spotlessly clean, the staff friendly, and to sit having breakfast, a stones throw from the Med, is bliss.
The Lounge areas are very comfortable, and the public areas are again spotless. This is not a place for All-nighters, but a stroll to the village (200 Metres), finds the bars, and restaurants.
A little train trundles around the mountain villages, if required. Only about 60 rooms, so small and quiet is the great attraction, if you don't like big. Not really great for kids, as the beach is the only thing for that age group.
My one gripe is, as always, the latest thing of charging for the hotels beach beds, which will add a further 85 euros (60 pounds) to the holiday.
I feel aggrieved that this could be avoided, as it causes bad feeling amongst many guests. But, sad to say, it's all over the place now. Don't let this spoil an otherwise great holiday. Best Wishes. Enjoy the Astoria hotel Alykes Zante.

" As always a great stay, we've been... "

As always a great stay, we've been visiting the Astoria for years now and can't fault the place. Its exceptionally clean and tidy, the food is excellent and by far the most idyllic place in Alykes to sit and have an evening meal, with the waves lapping just a few feet away from the restaurant and the moon reflecting on the sea.
The best advice I could give is to book direct, this way, the air con, fridge and safe are included in the price and you'll find its cheaper than using a tour operator, then grab a taxi to the hotel at the airport (again cheaper than a tour operator transfer) and its so much faster than a transfer coach too.
The 20 minutes it takes from the airport to the hotel I have experienced to take no less than 2 hours on a tour operator transfer coach! (After all of their drop offs and stops at other resorts).

" Just returned from the Astoria Hotel... "

Just returned from the Astoria Hotel after a great holiday.
The food and service in the restaurant is great, with really friendly staff. The rooms are clean and tidy, and there is plenty room on the beach in front of the hotel.
If you want to get away and relax I would recommend this hotel.

" The Astoria Hotel is beautifully... "
Submitted By: Mrs K Ketteringham
The Astoria Hotel is beautifully situated right on the beach in the small resort of Alykes. It is also only a short walk from the resort's bars, shops and tavernas.
The hotel itself is small and very friendly, our room was quite spacious, comfortable and extremely clean, though basic as is the case with most Greek accommodation.
The public areas of the hotel, reception, bars, restaurant etc. are very pleasantly decorated and well run. We found that we ate often in the restaurant even though we were only b and b, there was a varied choice and the food was always good.
What made the holiday for us however, was the friendliness of all the staff, nothing was too much trouble, and judging by the amount of people who had been going back for years, we weren't the only ones that found this to be the case.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a relaxed and lazy holiday, though there is plenty to do if you want to get out and about.
