Please note that due to the location and number of steps, the Villa Lucia is not recommended for the less mobile. The Villa Lucia is located on a slight hill overlooking Perissa Village, with wonderful views towards the sea. It's only 400m to Perissa Beach - a long stretch of striking black volcanic sand where you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas. Lugia and her husband make you feel very welcome and she also talks to you about her life in Greece and explains some of the traditions and customs very interesting. The views where fantastic, one way mountains, the other way the village and sea and the other way more of Perissa and further a field. The buses were very cheap 1 euro 60 to get to Fira the capital and another euro from the bus station to Oia. So we didn’t go on any excursions. We also got to Akrotiri on the local bus - very crowded. The walk up the mountain to ancient Thira is worth doing for the views - you are higher than the planes coming into land which you can see the airport from up there.

It is also worth a trip round the coast to Kalmira on the boat 3 euros each. The Dorians Pub owned by Nico and his wife worth going to at night - he makes you very welcome. The Laterna Taverna, The Cafe Del Mare and Charlina's are the best places to eat at night - reasonable. The Sun beds on the beach in front of Charlina’s restaurant are free as well. <br>
