Great hotel in a central location.
We upgraded to a superior room, well worth the extra pennies. Really good sized room with a large spacious bathroom. ne of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in.
Staff in the hotel were really friendly and would go out of their way to help. Not much outlook from the hotel but because it is located just off Rembrandtplein, it meant we didn't suffer from any noise from the square which you would had to put up with from the other hotels nearby.
The location of the hotel couldn't have been better, within easy walking distance of the sites and whether its shopping, culture or bars and restaurants, there was plenty nearby.
Don’t forget to visit the ice bar just round the corner; even if you don't fancy sipping vodka in minus 25 degrees the regular bar has a mean range of cocktails.

The location of the hotel and the staff were the best parts about the hotel. It is fairly central and we found we could walk to nearly everything we wanted to see. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
But.....the room we were given was on the ground floor just past the reception area and we were woken by everyone getting up for breakfast in the morning, we could hear the cutlery banging from about 7am via the open doors in the courtyard and then in the evenings the hotel locks the front door so all guests had to ring a doorbell to get back in so we were kept awake....and we didn’t go to bed until after 12 every night.
The room was tiny, it had a double bed in it but if you moved the TV bracket on the wall then you couldn’t walk past the bed.
It was clean but we expected a slightly better quality even for a 3*. We would not return and would say that for a similar price there are lots of nicer looking hotels in the centre of Amsterdam.

We had stayed in this hotel in 2004 and really liked it, which is why we came back. This time we did not have such a good stay. We arrived late afternoon after flight delays due to snow and all we wanted to do was shower, change and eat. We were told on arrival that although we had requested a high floor canal view all those rooms had gone because it was late so we were given an internal room on the ground floor.
It was not at all of the standard of room we had last year. It was tiny, overlooked by the bar area, so the curtains had to be kept closed and was very noisy with the reception being so close. We went back to reception and were told we could move to a new room the following day. We were moved to a room on the fourth floor overlooking the Herengracht. Unfortunately we were awoken every morning at 8am during our week long stay by work going on the canal. Although this was not the hotels fault I feel that they should have advised us in advance that the work was going ahead so that we could have had the option of cancelling our booking and staying elsewhere.
The location of the hotel is very good and ideal for both the Dam square and Leidseplain areas of Amsterdam. I would recommend the hotel if you can get a high floor. The work on the canal has now finished as they were packing up on our final day.

We stayed in the Rembrandt Residence Hotel in February 2005 and had a very nice time.
Upon check in, we were given a very nice twin bedded room on the ground floor, facing the inner garden. It was a very clean and quiet room. We requested a canal view room, but were very glad we did not get it. I found the room at the inside very quiet. Canal view must be noisy!
The staff at the reception was friendly and answered our questions with a smile. What the reception staff did not know by heart, they looked up immediately.
Breakfast in the morning was basic, but good. There was plenty of choice and good coffee (very important!).
The location of the hotel is just fantastic: Anne Frank House, Dam Square, Rembrandtplein, Flower market are ‘around the corner’.

The location was very good. It is located on a beautiful canal. The hotel is clean and tidy, comfortable beds and the linen are clean. The staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast was the usual continental style buffet served all morning. I had never visited the city before, but I’'LL BE BACK! What more can I say book this HOTEL and of course Amsterdam city. Greetings

We booked the hotel 9 months in advance and arrived at 11pm at night. We were there as part of a group for a friend’s 40th birthday and had arranged to meet them that evening.
We were told that the hotel was overbooked and that we were moved to the Movenpick which was lovely but we could have done without the hassle. To be fair to the Rembrandt, they paid for the taxi transfers between hotels and the bars.
We checked in the next morning and they upgraded our room. It was on the ground floor and huge. No wardrobe which was a shame. There was quite a bit of noise early in the morning from the kitchen and the room above.
The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and the hotel's location is good for all of the attractions and museums.
Friends also stayed in the same hotel and their rooms were very small but functional, but you don't go to Amsterdam to sit in your hotel room.
Probably would stay there again for the location, even in a smaller room.
