Spent one week at the Bellonias Villas on a B&B basis.
Quite a short hop from the airport and we had arrived. Due to the location the coach could not drop us at the hotel, we had to walk down a short paved lane to the promenade and then 20 metres to the hotel. No big deal, no problem.
Great location, excellent resort.
The complex has a very boutique hotel feel. The swimming pool complex drew many promenaders to stop, muse and photograph the site.
Staff extremely friendly and attentive, . Breakfast was self service with coffe tea served at the table by an extremely friendly staff member, who must be singled out for her warm attitude;(in winter she is a snowboard instructor, yes the do get snow on the mainland). Table were located at the poolbar, or overlooking the beach with great views to the Isalnd of Anafai and the rising sun. They had something for everyone at breakfast, a good range which would suit the mixed European clientele (Dutch,Scandanavian,German and Italian with a sprikling of N.Americans).
Although the pool area was excellent, we prefer the beach. The hotel has its own beach section with free sunbeds for guests, they also provide beach attendant service for drinks, lunch etc. Special mention must go to the beach attendance for service and her helpful attitude. The beach section was well maintaine an kept clean by said attendant.
The room we had was studio at ground level, overlooked the pool and had a sea view also. Although the poolbar was open until 2 am it did not draw a rowdy crowd and noise was not a problem. The standard of service was excellent, room was cleaned every day, three changes of linen and towels and the room was cleaned and bed made everyday.
Kamari itself was a compact resort with a nice promenade, loads of tavernas both on the prom and on the side streets. Did not have one bad meal in any of them.
A visit to the capital Fira is a must for the sunset, the views of the Caldera and the general hubub, however, if you decide to walk down to the port (556 steps), beware the donkeys! They carry the cruise trippers up and down. The steps stink and can be dangerous to negotiate due to the coating of manure and urine, (sorry to lower the tone ). We walked down and got the cable car back. Oia is another must see destination.Perissa another resort ( separated from Kamari by a large promonatory and accesible by water taxi from Kamari Beach) has a finer shingle beach than Kamari. You will definitely need beach shoes ( unless you have asbestos soles) as the black volcanic beach get very very hot.
Santorini is a fantastic compact island, the caldera is amazing and the local wines surprisingly good.

We visited the Bellonias Villas (Kamari, Santorini) in August 2007.
Accommodation:
After a moment of panic, getting off the coach and having to walk down a sandy path to get to the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. We were shown straight to our rooms on check in and the room was lovely. Very modern, clean and perfect!
We booked on a bed and breakfast basis and we couldn't have asked for better service. Each morning there were fresh scrambled eggs, croissants, sausage, ham, cheese, and many other foods to tempt the taste buds. The service was efficient and polite and we became friendly with the waitresses.
The hotel had a lovely pool with leather mattress sun loungers surrounding it. A fantastic Jacuzzi and a pool bar serving cocktails and a host of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
I cannot praise the hotel enough and strongly recommend visiting.
Local bars, restaurants:
Kamari is quite a busy town but not overly so. There are restaurants on the beach front and also on the two main streets leading away from the seafront. Not to be missed are No Name Taverna and Semeli. Well worth a visit for excellent, good value food. We ate in a different taverna each night and never had a bad meal. Quite a few of the tavernas had children's menus as well.
For a gyros pita at lunch for £1.50 try Koulis - officially the coolest place on the island and the best gyros pita I've ever had. Clean and very friendly staff.
Local transport:
There is only one taxi firm on Santorini so taxis tend to be expensive; however, the buses are very frequent and cheap so there isn't really a need for taxis.
Not to be missed...
Santo Winery. If you only visit one place while on the island, make this it. Santo Winery, in the town of Pyrgos, is breathtaking. Make sure you go at sunset and watch the sun come down over the blue sea. Gorgeous. We got married here and it was beautiful.
Sunset Cruise:
Another worthwhile trip. Sunset cruise around the caldera. Lovely trip including evening meal and ouzo. Watch the sun set from the sea and get stunning views of Santorini.
Santorini is not to be missed. Breathtaking scenery, friendly people, excellent accommodation. I can't fault it!

My husband and I stayed at the Bellonias in June 06 for our honey moon. To us this was an expensive option as we normally go to Greece on a late cheap and cheerful deal!
We are easily pleased but I do have standards when it comes to cleanliness of rooms/complex and helpfulness of staff. That said we had no complaints throughout the fortnight. We even got our own beach towels issued to use on the bit of private beach directly outside the apartments. Therefore didn't have to take home those messy sandy towels of our own.
The pool and bar/restaurant areas were special, bright and elegant. Breakfast was served here but you could also take it to the beach side and eat under the leafy trees watching the sea trickle in. The food was healthy and tasty but a little dearer than the normal tavernas however it was presented well. The location was ideal. You could laze in the Jacuzzi whilst watching the waves, you were that close.
The rest of Kamari was lovely, laid back and friendly, although i think it would probably get busy come August. You have to go to Thira/Fira and Oia if you visit Santorini and soak up the atmosphere-perfect for romantics.
The sunset is out of this world and we experienced it whilst on a boat listening to the Mandoiln, for some reason I sobbed uncontrollably!! It’s just so romantic! I wish I was there now.
