Ino Village Hotel

Beware: We upgraded from a standard room to a superior room with sea view and air conditioning for an extra cost. I was surprised when I first got into my room and switched on the wall dial to start the air conditioning and it didn't work. We went down to reception to ask them to service the air-con and were told we had to pay extra for the air-con to actually work. We complained that we had paid to upgrade to a room with air-con but were told we would have to pay an extra 84 euros to have the air-con for 2 weeks. Since it is very hot in Greece at the moment we had no choice. I would bring to your attention breakfast (compulsory) provided at the hotel. We were warned by notices in the inside of our room not to bring food not purchased from the hotel into our rooms as it is punishable by Greek law but what was provided for breakfast was unacceptable. It was bread and cheese or jam, watery coffee, no fruit or juice but only orange squash even the margerine was mixed with (yoghurt?) in order to make it go further. The whole thing was miserly and largely inedible and when I complained to the owners son Dimitri he just said, "Yeah, I know". Eventually, we started walking down to town and buying breakfast for around 7 euros each just to get something edible. Walking down into town incurs extra costs to get back (see below). I was dissatisfied. Location: though being on top of a mountain provides good views being 30 minutes up what is virtually a cliff means that you need to get taxi's to get back to the hotel in the Greek heat. I would say that we spent 3 euros a day returning to the hotel. I think that you should mention these costs or mountaineering skills when describing Ino Village!

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights to relax after some sightseeing in Turkey. Although the hotel is a little walk out of samos town it is definitely worth it for the peace and quiet, not to mention excellent views. The pool is lovely and is surrounded by comfortable sun loungers. Shade is available throughout the day if you're careful. Our room was very clean and comfortable and had a balcony with a lovely view over the bay. Breakfast was good. Our only problem related to the air conditioning: We had booked a 'superior' room so that we had air conditioning. The a/c did not seem to work on our first night so the next day we asked at reception. We were told that despite the fact that we had already paid £40 extra for a superior room when we booked we had to pay an extra 6 euros a night to obtain the remote control required to operate the air conditioning!

We have just returned from our second visit to the Ino Village in 2 years, the first being September 2005. We liked it so much that we just had to return. This year be booked direct with the hotel and organised our own flights to Samos, the hotel supplied the transportation to and from the airport. The staff are generally friendy and helpful and the hotel is well run. The only gripes we had during our stay was that the food served in the Elea restuarant in the hotel in the evening was not as good as it was last year, there are also new waiters who are still learning what's on the a la carte menu. Also the drinks in the bar seem to be over priced compared to the bars outside the hotel. One restuarant worth mentioning is the Vergina, opposite Gagou beach, a five minute walk from the hotel, the food has vasty improved since last year and most definately worth a visit or two. In Samos Town, a 15 minute walk down hill, we can recommend the Zen, El Greco, Steps and Alvi restuarants as worth visiting. We would recommend this hotel to couples looking for a quite and peaceful holiday. It is not a hotel that caters well for children and teenagers. People with walking difficulties should avoid this hotel due to the vast number of steps involved in getting to some of the rooms, especially those in the 800 block. For those of you who love sunbathing, the loungers around the pool are very comfortable and free, compared to the 6 euro charge for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella charged at Gagou beach per day.

This is a stay i will always remember. My wife and i had been travelling around the greek islands for some time, Samos was supposed to be a 2 night stop but... we ended up staying 12 nights! We just could'nt get away. Genuine hospitality, friendly people, happy atmosphere GREAT food and amazing views are just a few of the memories i took back with me. As for the island, it is a hidden emerald. There are not only prinstine beaches to explore but also beatifull mountain villages and historical ruins dated back to the 6th century BC. Samos is an amazing place to visit, and Ino Village Hotel is the best place to stay! We just could'nt have made a better choice.

My aunt and I only stayed at this hotel one night after our travel agent neglected to reserve the last night of our stay at another hotel. So we were off to a bad start but we tried to view the hotel with an open mind. Since we were transferring hotels we called ahead to see if we could check in early which we were told would be fine however when we arrived we were told that we couldn’t check in yet since the room wasn’t ready. The receptionist was rather rude while pointing out that we were early even though she was the one who I spoke to on the phone. We decided to sit on the terrace and enjoy the wonderful view for a while and ultimately the room was ready in a fairly short time. We were shown our room which seemed nice. We then got ready and headed into town for the day. After having stayed in a hotel closer to the harbor we found that waiting for a taxi was a bit of a pain plus we found out later that we were over charged which is not the hotels fault but when you rely on the taxi to get to and from town it is a factor. You can walk to town but there isn't a sidewalk and the roads are narrow, curvy and somewhat steep. Upon returning that evening we entered the room and found it very hot so we decided to turn on the Air conditioning only to find that there wasn't one. We called the front desk and they explained that we only paid for a standard room (no Air Cond.) another screw up by our travel agent but the evening receptionist was very happy to help us move to a room with Air Conditioning, of course at an extra charge. We finally went to the Bar for a Drink which we found to be quite entertaining. The bartender was terrific and of course the view from the terrace was fabulous. All in all a beautiful hotel, some staff could be nicer, others are great, location is out of the way if you want to walk to restaurants and shops, the view is fabulous, be sure to book a room with Air Conditioning if that is what you want.

We stayed at the Ino Village Hotel for 2 weeks and we could not have chosen a better hotel to stay in. The family who own and run the hotel are wonderful people, they were eager to ensure our stay with them was very pleasurable. The restaurant that is in the hotel is incredable, they employ a Greek chef (who closes his own business in the summer to work at Hotel Ino) and the dishes that he prepares (that are very affordable, most being 8-10 euro's) are equal if not better than many expensive restaurants that I have been to in London. The hotel is located 15-20 minutes from Samos town on a hill side, positives are that there are no mosquitoes and the view of the harbor and the sunset is breathtaking, the only negative is that you have to walk up hill to get back from the town, but as others have said the taxi's are very inexpensive. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Ino for making a fantastic summer holiday, we will be definately be visiting again next year.

A beautiful hotel, situated on a green mountain with stunning views. The bar staff (Dimitri, especially!) are extremely friendly and their english is great. The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious with excellent views from the balcony of either the sea where you can watch the boats come into the harbour, the pool or the mountain. Its worth a visit to the Monastry which you can see lit up at night at the top of the mountain. Also every Wednesday evening there is a traditional Greek taverna, just right from the entrance of the hotel, which plays live greek music and greek dancing-a fantastic evening never to be forgotten!! A wonderful holiday!

We (7 of us) spent just 2 nights at the Ino but it is one of our favorite places to stay in Greece that we have visited in the last 5 years. It is very comfortable with a spectacular view of the sound below and you just can't beat the constant cool breezes during the "warm" summer months. We will be returning again this summer!

This was our first visit to Samos - won't be our last. The Ino was lovely - yes the rooms are fairly basic but this is Greece and this is not a 5* hotel. The staff were really friendly - family run and the views from the breakfast terrace were fabulous. A bit of a hike down to the town and the sea but taxis are very cheap. We would return.

a small quiet, peacefull and friendly hotel. Our room was basic but clean and adequate for our needs. The hotel owners are very friendly and will do anything requested without delay. Hotel is just outside Samos town on a hill ok when going down but may not be suitable for less able although taxis are available and only cost 2 euros from town centre. All in all had a great time Samos is a lovely unspoilt island, and I would certainly stay at the ino village hotel again.
