We can only echo the comments of Mrs Melville in the first review. We are also fairly widely travelled, and this has to be one of our most relaxing holidays. The Kalidon Palace is, as described in the Thompson Brochure, small and very friendly. From the Manager, the receptionists, the restaurant staff and barman, through to the support staff. The views are lovely and it is well worth paying the extra for a sea view. Meals were very good, also with a relaxed, yet efficient atmosphere. Relaxed dining whilst watching the sun set over Kokkari below was very romantic.
The courtesy bus is also very easy to use, leaving every hour on the hour during the day, on a regular route to the two nearby beaches (Lemonakia beach and taverna were very good), and to Kokkari village. Taxis are also available for the evenings and very reasonable. Going down to the harbour in the evening to browse the little shops and relax became a regular during our holiday.
To summarise, a very clean, friendly and relaxing hotel, almost worth 5 star rating!!! We would love to return.

Sep 2005, Mrs C Melville

We are a fairly widely travelled couple, and this has to be one of our best holidays. The Kalidon Palace was almost perfect. The hotel is small enough to be personal and so friendly, from the charming manager, to the chambermaids. The views are wonderful, and eating a superb dinner on the terrace, looking out over the village of Kokkari, at sunset, would move even the coldest soul.
We can't fault a single thing. I would add, that although the terrain is not compatible to someone with severe walking difficulties, there is a courtesy bus that runs several times a day, so this can be overcome and well worth the effort. The village of Kokkari is delightful, lots of places to eat and drink, and there are some great walks. The best we can say is at the first available opportunity, we will go back.
