Great weekend
We stayed at this hotel in April 07 and we totally agree with all the positive reviews we had read in Tripadvisr. Clean, comfortable, priced right, pleasant staff and great location. Metro close by and a wealth of bars, restaurants and quirky little shops and arcades scattered around the maze of little streets surrouding the hotel. A brisk walk down the Rue Laffayette will take you past L'Opera and straight to the Louvre. We will be back to Paris and will have no hesitation in booking in at the Hotel de L'Ocean once more.
Don't book this hotel they FOOL you!
This is a way to let you book a cheap hotel at an A1 location. When arriving they told us that there was 'water in the room' so we had to go to another hotel, 30 minutes by taxi with no further info. We cancelled it and looked for another hotel that night. Result: Now I have to make sure that my credit-card is not being charged and we had to pay a much higher price at another hotel!
Great Hotel and Location
everything went well, it was New Years eve too. Great reception, hotel mmanager was great. Brilliant location.
Fantastic Location, Great Value,Excellent Room
We booked our accomodation in conjunction with eurostar ticket and got great value for money. Located just off La Feyette, the Hotel Dl'ocean was very comfortable. Very generous sized rooms, very clean. Had to request for cot to be supplied twice, however, this did not detract from our stay. highly recommend.
overbooked our room
Just a word of caution. They may overbook your room and send you to Hotel Lebron. And you do not want to stay there. We booked with Hotel de'Ocean through Hotels.com for one night and when we got there they said already had rented the room. Maybe we had this problem because it was only one night. But if your read the reviews for Hotel Lebron you'll see this has happen to at least one other person. Book at your own risk.
Great location, Good value for Money
We stayed in this hotel in September 2005 and returned in November 2006 as our experience had been a good one and we were not disappointed the second time around. We paid £214 for three nights for a double room and in my opinion the hotel is good value for money when you consider it's ideal location, general appearance and cleanliness. It is certainly not luxurious ( but very comfortable beds ) but we did not expect that given the price. It was very cold outside and the hotel was really warm and comfortable and very clean. We were not... more
Great location and nice, quirky rooms
We didn't actually plan to stay in this hotel, however, the one we had booked had just been flooded out by a burst water tank. Let me say that this was a fortuitous for us. Nice quiet street, friendly staff with clean comfortable beds. If you're American you are going to find the rooms on the small sided and if you're over 6ft 2in tall the beds will be on the short side, however, when we arrived we were given the option of several rooms and invited to choose the one we liked best! We chose a quirkly split level room on the first... more
Not for romantics
I booked the hotel with eurostar for a great price, but you pay for what you get this is two star at best and not for couples. Ok it is clean but very basic my girlfriend nearly had heart failure when we arrived, on the second night we stayed at the Hilton at L'defence although three times the price it was worth it.
A poor first impression of Paris
We had booked more than one room at this hotel for the first night of our recent "family reunion"/return visit to Paris. (We have travelled to Paris several times in the past.) This hotel was selected due to its convenient location, close to the Gare du Nord (train station) and Metro. Please note that the rooms themselves are about par for the course of a 3-Star Hotel in Paris - clean, small, basic, but acceptable. Unfortunately, the surly, "frosty" reception we received at the front desk would cause us to NOT recommend this... more
Will stay there again
My wife and I stayed three nights. The rooms were small but when in Paris how much time are your going to spend in the hotel, Walking distance to the Grand Opera, shopping and lots of great eating places. Will stay there again.
