This really is a 5 star resort and with definite 5 star prices! Even the Americans raised their eyebrows and almost everyone at dinner only drank water with their meal - 15 euros for a water and very small beer! The food is pretty good on half board too, all buffet style... more

Lindian Village - Highly Recommended
from PeterGW
We have just returned from a stay at the Lindian Village and would highly recommend it. Go there if you are looking for peace, privacy and excellent service. We were welcomed in reception with a cool lemonade after the taxi ride from the airport, then given a tour of the facilities in an electric golf cart. The site is beautifully laid out along a fake stream and gardens, suggesting a traditional Greek village. We stayed in a suite with private pool and didn't really need to move from there all week! Complimentary wine and fruit were in the room. Complimentary water was delivered each day and the room was serviced at least twice a day. The level of service at the Lindian Village is excellent and the staff are efficient and friendly. Only complaint - as in most hotels the minibar prices are vastly inflated - bottled water costs 10 - 12 times the supermarket price. The hotel has a main pool and a children's pool, a private beach (albeit gritty) with loungers and four-poster beds! There is also a spa, an outside gym, a couple of bars and a small shop. One drawback is that the hotel is not within easy walking distance of Lindos, the nearest resort - a taxi ride away if you want alternative restaurants or shops - and a rental car is needed if you wish to explore elsewhere in Rhodes. There are four main restaurants - International, which serves as the main restaurant, and specialised Greek, Thai and a Fish restaurants. All were good, although the specialised restaurants were relatively expensive. Buffet breakfast is served in the International restaurant and was excellent - a large spread of hot and cold food. Don't go to the Lindian Village if you want organised activity and a lively night-life. Go there if you want peace, privacy and good service.
an oasis of relaxation
from MerseysideMilly
Our second stay in Lindian Village after getting married there last year. The hotel, service , food and staff are all great. We again had a private pool suite ..impeccably clean .Hiring a car took us around the island. Falarimos and Tsampeka and of course Lindos aredefinatley worth visiting. Everything about our two weeks was exceptional...we would gladly return to escape the rat race of Britain...Three wedding s when we were there. The two brides we spoke to had a wonderful day. Yes ,the service is short but very special. The weddings tend to take place later during the day as it is too hot during the miday sun ...And the photos look wonderful with the sun setting casting a red glow. The All in all only disappointment was that the watersports centre was just being finished when we were there. Cant wait tilli go back....
The superb Lindian Village
from Broomy7
Lindian Village, where do I start. My girlfreind and I are in our early 20's and chose Lindian Village for our first beach holiday together and our longest time spent together too (a whole week!). We arrived at Lindian Village in the dark, but were greated in the main reception with a cold drink and a warm welcome. Our bags were whisked away while we were taken on a tour of the hotel, all lit up it looked amazing. With its man made river, starting from a small waterfall, leading all through the resort it gave such a relaxed atmosphere. We arrived in our room welcomed by a bottle of wine and fresh fruit. The next morning we sampled the breakfast, a lovely well laid and well presented buffet, occumpnied by superb waiter services. All the breakfasts we had, everyday, was brilliant, you could not fault anything. There is everything you need on the resort, a small shop, 4 restaurants, 2 bars, entertainment, etc... For lunch we went to the 'beach bar' where we received excellent and freindly service. The pool side was very clean, the beach boy a novelty of our hotel, real nice fella and would do anything to keep you happy. You can receive waiter service whilst on your sun lounger or if your on on of the 4 poster beds dotted around the beach of swimming pool, yes 4 poster beds! They were excellent! No problems with the rooms, spotless all day long, the cleaners I think come in about 3 times a day, making sure you had fresh towels, your bed sheet was pulled back for the evening, your pyjama's folded nicely... you could not fault the maid/room service. Staff overall spoke good English and were so helpful, anything you wanted they would do their best for. We both enjoyed our stay at the Lindian Village, and said one day we would like to return there as it was so brilliant and we enjoyed ourselves very much.
beautiful location but not 5* service
from annaMerseyside
have just returned from 1 week honeymoon the holiday was originally booked to include our wedding but we got married at home the week before. saw two weddings whilst there and were glad we had changed our plans. Pool venue was beautiful but choose late evening due to people lying on sunbeds where the bride walks! The wedding ceremony was over in minutes registrar skipped off to next one! all seemed impersonal. hotel and grounds spacious and immaculately maintained, we were on half board but ate out 5 out of 7 nights restaraunt bar prices are obseen, overpriced and although food was good portions were very small, the shop provides no drink in any form not even water so you have to buy at the bar paid 28euros for two small ice creams 1 juice and 1coke, even though we were on our honymoon we didnt like being ripped off . The hotel is situated in an isolated position so car hire is a cheaper option than taxis which vary in price. We were happy to do our own thing being on our honeymoon and this place was a great choice for total relaxation and quiet, the beach is simply heaven. Hired car so travelled the island Lindos and Rhodes town are a must, the nearby village of Lardos has the best taverna on the left just before the square it is celebrating its 25th year and is excellent. Although it wasnt all we expected overall we had a wonderful holiday!
Lindian Stay
from porusky
We booked our stay with TUI Germany. On arrival we were taken by a cab to the Hotel (free of charge). On arrival friendly staff check us in and escorted in the little buggy to the room. We booked a Suite. Well, we arrived in a 30C/82F heat. The AC in the room, was not turned on, which in my opinion should have been done on the day of the arrival, especially at a price of E6,000 for 7 nights for family of 3. One of the AC outlets was not working, so after we called the front desk, it was repaired. The swimming pool Jacuzzi was not working properly, so we had to call again. Staff in the main restaurants was very friendly and the little shop by the restaurants where one can get smokes, sunscreen and WATER was very convenient. One thing is WATER - every night we got a free bottle of Norwegian water on the night table, ICEBERG water, that retails in mainstream European shops at E10 a bottle - here comes the fun part - ICEBERG WATER FOR FREE, but a 1L SPRING WATER for E5 at the restaurant with the meal - don't ya think somethings funny with that picture. The beach has some BIG stones, so beach shoes, those rubber pull ons would make walking in to the water much easier and not so painful, however a WILD beach which is a 5min walk away from the hotel is nice and sandy, so why this beach has stones on it, is a mystery. Will gladly stay again next year but giving 4 and 3/4stars for the lack of the room being comfy ready on arrival.
Beautiful hotel but horrible service
from Basel1
We stayed in the Lindian Village for two weeks in October 2006. The whole premises are just beautiful, so was our junior suite, the room was spacious and very nicely designed, so were the restaurants and the pool area. Unfortunately the service was not what you can expect of a hotel which wants to be the number one of Rhodos. Staff was mostly unfriendly, their English is often hardly understandable. We booked half board and tried also the Thai and Greek Restaurant. They are both very nice, although the surcharge for eating there seems a lot too high to us. The quality of the food in the halfboard restaurant was very variable, such is the service. One evening we ordered for examples two glasses of wine and got two glasses of different white wines, or when we came for breakfast one morning we had to order coffee, than milk, than sugar and than a spoon - so it took about twenty minutes until we cood start our breakfast. Housekeeping was also quite unprofessional, every day there was something missing in our room, tissues, matches, towels, etc. One day they even burned our sleeping clothes because they put it on the bedside lamp! Moreover, our private jacuzzi was broken for about three days (we were woken up in the middle of the night because they feared that it would flud our room). Moreover, the lock of our door was not working for days because it got wet in the rain. So we had to walk up to the front desk each time we wanted to enter our room (so had different other guests, which also complained about the staff`s attitude and strucutral failings in the hotel). It seemed not possible to fix the lock during our stay. What disturbed us most was that the hotel management did not take any actions when we were indicating that this was not what one could expect from a five star hotel - particularly if it is clearly asking the guests to pay more than five star prices. A Martini costs for example approx. 12 Euros! After our travel agency complained, they finally agreed to substitute the costs of our sleeping clothes and assured to pay us an extra dinner in the Thai Restaurant, moreover they wanted to deliver fruits and wine to our room. Needless to say we waited in vain for the last two things......
Splendid

Excellent

Been there in the first week of august: it's a beatiful resort. It's a real village with white two story greek style buildings amid mediterranean gardens. My room, elegantly furnished with dominant green and white colours, had a bath with bisazza style mosaics. The complex appears to be very recent and well mantained. The free buffet (I was on h/b) at the international restaurant was the best I've ever tried in a resort: many choices, especially of vegetables, only be aware of the extras, like wine, that are quite expensive (1 bottle of wine costs some 40 euros, the glass 6 euros). The staff is extremely attentive and helpful. All it's organized to let you feel at home and relaxed: no hurry for the restaurant or the beach beds: there's place for everybody. The beach is spatious and the water warm and clean. Also the pool was big and sorrounded by greek style elements and pavillons. For sure I'll go back. But the next time i'll remeber the plastic shoes for the beach: it's made of little rocks.
Loved this stylish contemporary hotel
from nealbaker
Stay 28th June 06 for 14 nights. Weather: arrived at 37 degrees C, very hot, can get slightly cool in the evening. My wife would recommend a very light pashmina or fine light cardigan. This hotel is so cool, stylish contemporary chic. A very lovely 5 star. I was half expecting it to be cold or unfriendly but not at all; the staff make it friendly and warm. Junior staff were mostly university students from around Europe but were well trained. Staff couldn’t have been more polite and helpful. There is a happy atmosphere. When we arrived we were invited to sit down and were given freshly squeezed orange juice to drink whist checking in. We were then taken on a tour of the hotel by riding in an electric golf buggy. Whist we were being shown around our cases were delivered to our suite. Standard rooms are in a traditional village style with narrow cobbled paths covered in lush flowering plants, canopies of bougainvillaea flowers, hibiscus and banana palms. Located between the beach/pool and ‘village square’. Suites are two years old and located further back but it is a nice walk next to the stream. Suites are arranged in blocks of four full suites downstairs and two junior suites on top. Junior suites have a very large terrace with furniture under a pergola, sun lounger, parasol and a Jacuzzi. Surrounded by high walls they are very private. The full suites are amazing, loads of space; the garden is a lot larger than it looks on the photos, a terrace with large table, armchairs and a huge sofa, all very stylish but very comfortable with a pergola for shade and obscures view from the junior suite above. The swimming pool is bigger than I expected, you can swim six strokes. The integral Jacuzzi is the real deal, has plenty of vigour. The garden is surrounded by eight-foot walls, part trellis covered in climbing flowering plants. The audio system pipes music to speakers on the terrace; it is so luxurious to lay outside at night on the sofa with a glass of wine under the stars listening to your own cds in total privacy. We have since looked for other hotels with similar private facilities but they are scarce and you have to pay a lot more money (e.g. Elounda in Crete). You get to choose the times for maid service and what time your pool is cleaned. The pool was cleaned ever other day. Turn down service early evening brings fresh towels and water (from Norway!). Great food. The buffet restaurant has a wide choice varied each day and plenty for my vegetarian wife (eats fish); good quality considering volume food e.g. crisp vegetables. Service was very good, drinks coordinated to your food, staff willing and friendly, easy to talk to. Only slight niggle was that plates were not cleared promptly between courses. The restaurant operates a Cat Café where cats are fed before guests eat so that they are not bothersome, staff dissuade you from feeding the cats, but a mother and her kittens were regular visitors to the outdoor tables. ‘Paul’ the ginger kitten would sit on your lap if invited. The a la carte restaurants are excellent, the service prompt and personal and the waiters knowledgeable about the wine menu. The Fish restaurant is so romantic. The chef came to see us personally to discuss our meal and ended up smoking a fish specially for us on a smoker downstairs. It was the best tasting fish I’ve ever had. Cost about 45 eur each plus wine; you get a 15 eur discount for HB. Wine costs around 34 eur per bottle; you can bring back what you don’t drink to any restaurant and take it back the next night. The main pool is huge, another pool on a lower level has water gushers. The water was pleasantly warm like the sea in June. All are FRESH WATER and don’t taste of chemicals. The four-posters on the beach and around the pool are for real and not just for show; they have drapes that you can draw and people go and take a sleep in them. Most people go to the loungers on the beach, which leaves the pool area sparsely populated even when the hotel was nearly full; which was great for us because we would arrive at the pool at 11am and have free choice of where to lay. There is rarely more than two couples in the pool at once. They beach boy changes the lounger covers regularly. You can get fresh pool towels from him as often as you want. The pool waiters are as attentive as you want them to be, they are always available by the pool and beach. The cocktails are great as well as the fruit punch made from freshly squeezed fruit. Typical costs are 3.50 eur for beer, 5.50 large wine, double baileys 7 eur, cocktails 12-14 eur. Greek salad (large) 12 eur. This is a 5-star hotel, you expect 5-star prices. Spectacular place to get married. There are several places a wedding could take place, in the small chapel in the grounds, very beautifully authentic, in the pool gazebo (in all the pool photos centre of the pool) and in a romantic island setting by the stream near the suites. (the hotel decorate the ornate iron work; the climbing plants are immature at present). The an a la carte restaurant would be wonderful for a reception. Pricey but hopefully you will only get married once. It was my wife’s birthday whilst we stayed at this hotel, not only did the hotel manager send her a card and bottle of wine, but a beautiful cake was presented to her whilst we dinned at night. Entertainment is at the pool at night, not well publicised. Good quality, tasteful performances. Few kids; good for little ones but teenagers would die of boredom. The shop on site is small but sells most things. Water is 80 cents for 1.5 ltr. Can of coke 1 euro. Huge bag of crisps 3 euro. George who ran the water sports was an excellent teacher. On the wind surfing course he accompanies you one to one, him in a motorised boat giving instruction. Small niggle, you cant leave your air conditioning on all day if you leave your suite but it works well, the rooms are cooled very quickly. The hotel is about 300 metres to the nearest bus stop. 1 – 3 euros to Lindos or Lardos. Taxi fare back is approx 8 euros from Lardos and 10 euros back from Lindos. The hotel is well away from tourist tack. Car hire would be useful from 1 to 3 days. The rest of the time you don’t want to leave the hotel. Would we stay again? Having looked carefully at the competition this hotel is very good value. We have booked again for next year. This year within the first day of sales we couldn’t get the dates we wanted, it is obviously getting more popular. We cannot wait to get back. This guy’s account is very good: submitted on Jul 11 from Essen, Germany.
Beautiful and relaxing but urgent need to hire a decent chef!!
from dianejohanna
I just came back from the Lindian hotel. And the beach with these beds are absolutely wonderful! So relaxing! The rooms are fine, clean and great with the little terrace. All you need is there. It is not flashy which I like and the village has incredible flowers and trees. The property is new , well kept and very clean overall. The staff is nice ( except the towel man who does not seem to like his job much and is quite scary if you did not bring back the towels to him even if he was not around...) Anyway that was for the little story, I think the pool was wonderful you can waterski with the nice english guy on the next beach who would pick you up and drop you in front of the beach for a cheap 20 Euros for a tour. Now here is the real break down, the food is really bad, and yes really expensive. I do not understand how after a week we did not have once a decent sandwich and a good meal by the pool. I do not mind paying if it is good but it was really really bad, and the ladies on the beach are lovely but need to understand a bit more english. As for the restaurant we try 2 the Thai and Greek, Some dishes are good others quite average still very expensive. So here are my recommendations. Rent a car and DO NOT MISS Lindos it is spectacular and 15 minutes drive, the food is real greek amazing and cheap food. The service is lovely as they are trying hard to make visitors happy. Go to Pefky and try the restaurant called TERPSYS again cheap and great food! Overall The hotel is wonderful to chill out on the beach ( bring your own food) and the pool is great to refresh yourself! The hotel has everything to be really 5* but they have to cook their home food serve it on the beach and really invest in the quality of the ingredients. I will hope they will improve this and will definitely return because it is really a beautiful peaceful place. Now note they are some constructions next to it not that loud but you will notice it. That shall pass too! Good luck and enjoy Rhodes! Try the Demetriades restaurant in front of the port under the arcades the old man serving there is wonderful and the food so cheap and great original greek food. Thank you for reading!

Prologue: After six years of other travels, we once again planned for a holiday in Greece which we wanted to take in June 2006. First considering to go to Crete – an island we have already visited twice – we finally decided to go to Rhodes because we have not yet... more
