The best thing about this hotel is...
6 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss F Daley

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is 10 mins from the beach or in the opposite direction, the lovely small town of Lardos. There is also a bus stop 2 mins away where you can start exploring the island. The hotel gardens are beautiful, and the whole area is perfect if you want to stay somewhere peaceful and away from the rowdiness of large towns/resorts.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. In fact when we arrived at 4am, the barman George (who was just about to leave) was completely happy to stay and have a few welcome drinks with us! He also insisted we try various local inebriating drinks each time we passed the bar throughout our week long stay! Also Steve was great - when we were walking into town on our first day he stopped in his car and gave us a lift.
But now on to the down side.....
The food was disappointing to say the least. Breakfast (included in the price) consisted of a bread roll and jam. Therefore it is not worth getting up early for, and they should advertise as room only, I think. We only eat one evening meal there. The vegetables looked and tasted like supermarket frozen mixed bags, and the swordfish was very oily and fatty. By the way, there is very little (if anything) for a vegetarian to eat here.
The rooms and plumbing are basic. There was a large hole in our bathroom, which if I was tall enough, I could have seen through to next door. Also the pool bar plays loud British music non stop all day, so would drive me a bit mad if I wanted to sunbathe for any length of time.
To sum up, this is a great base for exploring Rhodes, but not a great hotel if you want luxury or to stay/eat there for the whole holiday.

The whole staff were friendly from...
9 / 10
Jul 2007, Ms L Wotherspoon

The whole staff were friendly from the word go. The accommodation is what you expect in Greece and is wholly adequate. We were offered choice of room.
The gardens and pool area superb. Pool cleaned every day. Breakfast was adequate with option to purchase extras if needed. Night bar staff very good. Good base for exploring Rhodes.
Only disappointment was at Greek night I had expected buffet barbeque and the meal was plated up but the excellent entertainment made up for this.
There was some renovation going on but this did not disrupt our holiday. Staff keen to arrange taxi for you without charge for phone call.
Dining was also good from the menu.
Thank you for making ours a holiday to remember.

Probably the worst place we have ever...
1 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr S Birch

Probably the worst place we have ever seen in all of our holidays, we were not expecting the world but this Hotel is in a very poor state.
From the outside the gardens are beautiful but as soon as you step through the front door it all goes downhill!
Staff were not unfriendly, they just hardly spoke, no welcome or details of what's where, just given the keys and told where the room was (next to the kitchens and toilets).
The room was terrible, no air con, no room to move, no outside light on the balcony that looked out upon a wall and rubble. The shower was a trickle and the drainage was a tile with a hole chipped out.
The whole place was grubby and dirty and hygiene is a concern. The pool table had moss growing on it and looked as if hasn't been used for years. The pool bar was a disgrace and filthy we decided against eating for fear of food poisoning.
Breakfast which was included in the price was only Cornflakes or a bread roll... anything else you had to pay for even the toast! So don't think you’re getting a good deal here as you're not.
We move to a hotel with the same rating up the road and it was stunning. I cannot believe that this Hotel has so many good ratings 10/10?! It really isn't what it advertises.
They are in the process of building more rooms so the gardens are covered in rubble, fittings and everything else you wouldn't want to sit and look at.
An awful place in all you can get much better for the same price - try the Cosmos Maris instead.

Our first time to the olive gardens...
10 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr Colin Banks

Our first time to the olive gardens and we think it’s a shame you can only score 10 out of 10, because the whole team at this wonderful hotel deserve much more.
From arrival to departure we were treated with nothing but friendly respect by all the staff. The food although inexpensive was first class and we found no need to wander off to the local tavernas.
The grounds of this delightful hotel are a sight for sore eyes and extremely well maintained by Steve and his team (sorry Steve!) His wife, Jan will bend over backwards, so the rumour has it (sorry Jan!) to provide your breakfast and refreshments throughout the day.
George and Steve (night) take care of your needs throughout the evening and night.
Peter, Diane, and Nick are your hosts and make everybody most welcome.
The existing rooms are to be refurbished at the end of this season and the new wing should be complete for next year. If you want to relax and chill out this hits the spot.
We will definitely be going back for some more in the not too distant future. Love and best wishes and a big, big thank you to all at Olive Gardens, Paul, and Colin.

We first went to the Olive Garden in...
10 / 10
Jan 2007, Mr DW Hardy

We first went to the Olive Garden in 2004 and have been back 4 times since , and will continue to go there.
You just can't beat the way that all of the guest's are looked after like it has been said in other post's nothing is to much trouble.
In 2006 we went in May and Sept and upon our return booked for May 2007, it's the piece of mind knowing that you will be looked after.
In Sept 2006 I was taken ill and the way that Diana dealt with the doctor for us was next to perfect, she even sorted a get better eating programme for me and made sure I stuck to it - 100% commitment to their guest's.
I know the hotel is being enlarged a little bit, because once you have been you just have to go back. I have been all around the world but never have we had a holiday like the ones that Peter & Diana give us.
All I can say is see all at the Olive Garden soon. D W Hardy.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel...
10 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr C Cassley

My partner and I stayed in this hotel in September 2003 and return in little over 2 weeks time.
It’s been great the last few months reading other people's comments about the Olive Garden and merely confirming what we had always thought of it after our first stay there. We found the owners, Peter and Diane to be very welcoming and friendly, with their staff taking a genuine interest in your holiday and how your stay was going.
The Olive Garden is ideal for relaxing and unwinding; the beach is a 10 minute walk away, Lardos itself just over a 1km or so. Some people may find this too long to walk but we found it good to be on the outskirts of town rather than in the middle of the resort, it added to the peace and ambience of the location.
One word of warning, be careful of the main road outside the hotel, it does get very busy and the main road into Lardos itself could be better lit - just be aware.
As for the hotel, it may be a 2 star but we found it ideal, the right size with enough to do during the day if you don't fancy spending all day on the sun bed. Breakfast is limited but you get what you pay for, the atmosphere of the hotel makes up for it. Ideal place for a week or 2.

This was our first time in Rhodes and...

Aug 2006, Mrs LM Knox

This was our first time in Rhodes and we were very pleasantly surprised by the olive garden hotel. Peter and Dianne could not have done enough for us and made us feel so welcome during our stay.
The hotel is quiet, relaxed and very friendly. It has a real family atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble. It is nearby to the lovely beach of Lardos and is within walking distance to the town where there are plenty places to eat. The hotel food is excellent and reasonably priced.
We felt very safe here and because the hotel is small, the guests all mixed with one another and socialized together. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we hope to go back next year.

Mar 2006, Mr J Green

When we arrived to the hotel we couldn't be more impressed, nothing like we expected. For a 2T hotel we were pleasantly surprised to find beautiful rock gardens with the sounds of running water.
As we checked in, the owner of the hotel Peter greeted us like he had known us for years & that he & the staff had been waiting for our arrival. For the two weeks that we were there I was made to feel like I was at home away from home.
I have never been to a hotel were the guests of the hotel have enjoyed the company of the other guests so much. The hotel just has so much atmosphere especially by the pool & in the bar, you just want to soak up as much of the holiday you can while your there. First time I saw guests cry on departure when they had to say their goodbyes. By far the best holiday I have ever taken.
Thank you to the Olive Garden Hotel for everything & see you again next summer. I recommend this hotel to everyone, happy holidays.

Feb 2006, Mrs A Hayes

FANTASTIC. Peter & Diane really know how to treat their guests. From the moment you arrive, you become part of their family. You can be as relaxed or as busy as you want. Just lazy around the pool, or explore the island, it's all good.
The rooms are spacious and very clean (cleaned daily) The food is great. The sandy beach is only a short stroll away. The village centre is not far & within walking distance. Whatever you want from a holiday, you will not be disappointed with The Olive Garden. You can either kick back & relax or use the olive as a base to discover the nightlife & history of the island.
Over the years I have made many friends & that is why I keep going back (twice a year) I've already booked for May 06.
