Villaggio Verde Hotel & Bungalows

We arrived at this hotel at the end of May, the pictures from italyib [-] shwed luxery log cabins the reality however was very differant, and we felt like we stayed a week in a garden shed, the cleaners did come in every day but under our bed was thick with dust, the complex did have a small pool which was very cold but the strict rules which had to be adhered to when using it we did not think was worth the bother, and people were regulary shouted at if they did not adhere to these rules. We thoroughly enjoyed our fortnight's stay at Villagio Verde and Kelly and Tony, our hosts in this family run haven of tranquility in an otherwise busy resort showed sensitivity and graciousness towards us and all their guests. The chef showed us that he is capable of preparing excellent meals and his desserts are first class. Where else can you stay half board and choose from an a la carte menu? I booked Villagio Verde through Thomsons in the UK. I've travelled extensively in North America, the Caribbean and Europe, and I have to say that Villagio Verde was a delightful place. It is a small family-run hotel of self-catering chalets and hotel bedrooms. I stayed in a bedroom next to the swimming pool and ate in the restaurant. Noise was never an issue. We just returned from a week long holiday at Villaggio Verde and had the most wonderful time. We have two small children and stayed in one of the chalets. It was perfect for our family as the village is closed off and the one road through it is safe and quiet. Our 4 year old had a great time going back and forth on the lane and both kids loved playing in the shade of the lemon and orange trees, swinging in the hammock and splashing in the pool. we had an amazing time at villaggio verde. The pool was great although it was cold (although it was only may/june) The location is great about a 10 mins walk to the main square and if your lucky the driver will give you a lift down there in his mini van The resort is fantastic lots of shops and reasturants. There may be only a small bit of sandy beach but there are plenty of bathing platforms to make up for it. The views over the bay of naples is breathtaking. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. We stayed there in the first week of September for six nights. You get your own little cabin amongst the lemon trees. The cabin wasn't luxury, but it was nice and clean. You get your own kitchen which came in handy - we went to a supermarket and bought some nice cheese and bread etc (and a few Peronis) to have for dinner one night and ate on the porch. Food was FABULOUS!!! and home cooked too! The staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly!! Our room was very clean and comfortable, the towels were changed every day. The gala night was very good-good entertainment and good food! The only small bad note was the mozzies and "heart attacK hill" which isn't Toni's fault. Dani the waiter is a really friendly lad and a good laugh! Would recommend to go back again. Sorrento was beautiful.

My partner and I visited Sorrento at the beginning of October for a week and we loved it but.... Firstly the negative points (and I'm please to say there was only one):- We checked in very late on the evening we arrived and the room we were allocated was the closest to the road so we could hear alot of traffic noise especially when they sounded their horns which was frequent and the room had no bath, which we needed as my partner suffers from health issues. As with most hotels in Italy the rooms are a tad on the small side but they are modern and clean. The food is excellent. The family that run the it are friendly & helpfull. The pool area is again small but we always got a bed. GO THERE!!!

I recently went to Villaggio Verde and it was really lovely. There was a very pleasant atmosphere in the family run environment, which was made picturesque by the log cabins being surrounded by lemon and orange trees and other foliage. The pool area was lovely and the hygiene in this area was thorough, which I appreciated. You do have to pay for the sun loungers, but there are free deck chairs also. The log cabins are basic, but provided enough comfort. There wasn't a kettle so to boil water you had to use the conventional hob method.... more
