What a find!
from 2Londoners
We have just returned from a 2-centre break in the Amalfi coast and our first stop for 4 days was the lovely Palazzo Marziale. My fiance and I just feel we must write about our experience as this place is an absolute find! Location is perfect, very central, everything is walking distance but not right in the middle of the main piazza which is nice as you can get away from the noise and hustle and bustle when you feel like it. Breakfast was spot on, lovely fresh bread + pastries and a selection of cheeses and hams. Also yoghurt,...

Great Location with extremly comfortable accomodations
from bobsuenj
You wont find a better locaton in Sorrento. All shopping and dining is within a 5 or 10 minute walk. If you wish to hydofoil to Naples or Capri or take a train to Pompei the departing locations are 15 minutes. Our room, the white room, was extremely comfortable. I did not find the negatives reported in a few of the reviews. The breakfast was more than adequate with local meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, dry cereal and a variety of breads and sweet rolls. Each morning we were entertained by Vincenzo as he prepared our capucino or...

Great Location
from Ann62
Excellent location for visiting the surrounding areas. Quality of breakfast was poor, we stayed in the Red Room and found it below average. No views from the window other that an internal courtyard facing the other bedrooms. The hotel is fairly noisy from both the plumbing in rooms upstairs and also the noise from other guests entering and leaving the hotel. Some of this should be partly offset by the friendliness of the staff. The hotel has limited services and feels more like a B&B than a hotel.
Great location - but completely ignored
from rinocnori
To see the Amalfi Coast, we decided to base ourselves in Sorrento for the week. This proved to be a wise decision - and the Palazzo Marziale was in a PERFECT location. It's close to the rail and bus stations, the port, as well as shopping and restaurants. We read great reviews about this place, and booked it because of the personal attention given to the guests by the owner. Unfortunately, we never saw the owner (until the last day, when payment was due from us). We were completely ignored all week. "Breakfast" consisted of...

Management response from Marziale
Dear Customers,
as it is now the second time that we had a review in which you say that the owner doesn't care enough about her guests, i can not ignore it, and i will make treasure of your comments and will provide to be more helpful and present.
In the same time i would like to explain the reason for wich this year something is changed regarding my attention with guests : i have now new and very intense business duties; but its also the reason that made me decide that i could not charge as much as i did since last year, when i was allways with my guests.
This year our room rate is much much lower than it was in the past. Aniway, i have now a new employer who is really very caring and friendly, we red together the last review and we will do our best to make you feel confortable and welcommed.
Thanks and look forward to welcome you in Sorrento,
Paola Savarese
Different yes - but friendly?

Ok. We stay 2 or 3 times a year at the Grand Hotel Royal a 4**** in the centre of town and love, love, love it! The first time we stayed 'off season' was the last week of October 2006 and thought we would squeak in a short break this March 2007 for 4 nights. The Royal closes in the winter months and we also do like to stay in smaller B&B type accommodation in other parts of Italy / Europe so thought we would give it a go this time in Sorrento. Very good website - we booked the white room (junior suite) which was lovely, location...

The perfect Sorrentine experience
from A TripAdvisor Member
Palazzo Marziale excels on all fronts. Not only is it luxurious and palatial, it is the perfect Sorrentine experience. The owner, Paola, welcomes you into her beautiful hotel and along with her excellent staff, succeeds in providing you with everything for a truly wonderful stay. We stayed for 2 weeks on our honeymoon and were made to feel as if we were the only ones in the entire hotel. We sipped grappa with our hosts, were treated to a fantastic Sorrentine supper and enjoyed many balmy evenings under the picturesque pergola overlooking...

A very intimate and special palazzo!
from Sylviad
We stayed here a couple of nights on our two week holiday in Italy. It met our expectations in practically all aspects! The hospitable welcome from Paola, where we were first invited to the large outdoor sitting area for a welcome drink, where we could hear a bit of the small town buzzeling out on the streets, while we were sitting in this secluded romantic outdoor "living room", with flowers and plants all over, and what sounded like a Parrot somewhere on the Roof top... The thing is that Paola, and her family still are living i parts...

A true palatial experience
from nangela
Stayed for 2 nights at the Palazzo and loved the ambience and the friendliness of the staff. Paola, the owner was extremely friendly and accomodating. We had to drop off our rental car, and Paola arranged for the company to pick up the car from her own garage. This service was incredibly appreciated as we were exhausted from our drive. We stayed in the Red room, which was a tad small, but its beauty and luxury made up for that. The bright, large, marble bathroom, was truly palatial, with everything one could possibly need, from shaving...

Wonderful luxury palazzo hotel
from Irenepr
We spent 10 days in this wonderful hotel. It is a genuine palazzo and when you walk through the wooden door into the reception area you can't believe how something so beautiful could look so ordinary from the outside. Our room was beautifully furnished with lovely antique furniture and very comfortable. Our hosts were very kind and helpful. The breakfasts are delicious but watch your weight! (gorgeous little pastries that you just can't stop eating). The palazzo couldn't be more conveniently situated, so close to everything. Just across the...

Palazzo Marziale - a wonderful alternative to a large hotel
from KJF65
We just spent two nights at a fabulous small boutique hotel/bed and breakfast - the Palazzo Marziale in Sorrento. It is right in the heart of Sorrento, but private, quiet, and very serene. It has five beautifully appointed guest rooms, and the public rooms are also exquisitely decorated with fresh flowers everywhere. It has a lovely private garden area, where breakfast is served during the warm weather months. The service was excellent and personal, and the proprietess accomodated our every need with recommendations and reservations for...
