Mezzatorre Resort & Spa Hotel

Stayed at the Mezzatorre July 2005 whilst on Honeymoon around Italy. The hotel and setting is simply fantastic. We booked a suite with its own outdoor plunge pool, but was dissapointed to find the water and bath dirty, there was also a broken ash tray on the floor. However after one call to reception, the bath was cleaned straight away. The staff go out of their way to please the guests. We have been travelling to this hotel for several years now and I have yet to find another hotel where the welcome is always so genuine and warm. Some of the 'top' hotels are wonderful yet aloof but here we are treated as old friends. As a destination to relax in, enjoy the spa, and get away from the crowds it can not be beaten. The food and service is excellent - try the Gnocchi!

Overall the Mezzatorrre is a great hotel although I am not sure it is up to the standards of a leading hotel of the world, compared with others I have stayed at and given the price. We booked a tower room and although it was extremely small, it was manageable. If you have large suitcases with you it is impossible to stay in one of these rooms as there is little closet space and no space for suitcases with only about 1 ft space around the bed. This hotel has the most breathtaking location on the island of Ischia. The rooms are lovely and private as they are spread out all througout a natural park. The food is wonderful Italian food and reasonably priced. The spa is spectacular. They offer a good combination of both traditional and modern treatments. You walk into the spa and you immediately relax, Heaven!! The staff are friendly and helpful with not being too overbearing. The pool sits on the edge of the clifff and affords magnificent views.
