Il Moresco Hotel

My wife and I along with another couple stayed here for 3 nights in late May 2007. We had a pleasant time in the hotel other than a few details which make the claim of the hotel to be 5 star a false one. When I decided one afternoon that I wanted a sauna, I wandered down to the inside pool, only to be told that the hotel requires 2 hours notice for the sauna to be turned on!! We have stayed in the Moresco on several occasions - this was our second trip there this year and I write this review with mixed emotions, as it really is such a fantastic hotel that perhaps selfishly we don't want to advertise the experience! Whilst the decor and general ambience at the hotel is understated yet elegant its the service that really makes staying at the Moresco a first class experience. We stayed for two weeks in June 2006. The hotel was spotless, the room quite spacious , and the service first class. Although we found the buffet breakfast quite boring we discovered that eggs can be ordered as long as they are not poached! The evening meals, in contrast, were superb with an excellent buffet table for first course and a very knowledgeable wine waiter. We enjoyed a fine Barbaresco for 30 Euros. In all a wonderful holiday in a great hotel on a beautiful island.

As experienced, discerning travellers, we find "Il Moresco" to be a true "haven of tranquility". The attention to guests' comfort is highly professional and friendly, though discrete, at all times. Ideally suited to couples who wish to relax, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the setting, the service and the food (oh such food ! never tasted better!) Having enjoyed five previous visits, we look forward, with great anticipation to our return in 2007.

Stayed here for 1 week in a deluxe double room with balcony. Food, setting, atmosphere and service were all fantastic. Hotel Il Moresco is not a clinical 5 star hotel. It is however a perfect place to go if you prefer a more rustic authentic Italian holiday. Over 50% of their guests return year after year. The good: 1) food 2) friendly staff The bad: 1) the hotel office says they have a private beach, but this is not true. They have a very small area on a wooden scaffolding and it closes at 6:00PM. 2) Once you check in you can leave early but you will be charged the full amount of your intended stay; 3) No ocean views from most rooms 4) The website makes the pool area look much bigger than it actually is 5) They stop serving dinner at 9:15PM 6) The rooms are very small - more like a 3 Star 7)... more

Have stayed here twice and would definitely recommend that you upgrade to a superior room as the basic rooms are small and the balconies can be restricted with poor views. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the staff are very professional but friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and the service in the restaurant faultless. The general facilities at the hotel are excellent although the fact that you have to pay for a medical examination before enjoying the therapies on offer, does push the price up substantially. The situation of this Hotel is not good bearing in mind it is only 100 metres from the sea. There are no sea views only garden and road, not even the swimming pool unless you are in an expensive suite. Some room outlooks are very poor - not the standard we expected at this price (Tui/Thomson). However we could not fault the service, staffing or food!

This hotel is truley one of the last of its kind...the service is absolutley proffessional, staff is attentive, the decor of the property is beautiful, Moorish in style and feeling, and breathtaking. You truly feel like you are back in time with the beautiful mediterranean decor, and a warm inviting lobby with beautiful chandeliers from Murano. A peaceful haven away from the bustle of Ischia. Food of an excellent standard, served by friendly, attentive staff who are always pleased to help or advise in a multitude of languages. The ambience of the piano bar is superb in the evening enhanced by the excellent service of the bar staff. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere and provides an excellent selection of spa and beauty treatments along with a gym and three thermal pools - just the thing to soothe the soul and ease tired bodies.
