" When we arrived, the park looked... "

When we arrived, the park looked extremely clean and well maintained. We were to check in at 4pm, therefore, we had a look around for a while. As we entered the reception, the staff were not at all welcoming and they were just generally chatting to one another instead of welcoming holidaymakers. The arcade was very nice, plenty to do in there and the staff were friendly towards us. We never went into the bar during our holiday as the prices were quite high.

The pool had to be the best facility by far on the site as it was very well laid out and the lifeguards were down to earth!

After we had checked in and were allocated our "silver" caravan, we were directed from the reception to where we were to stay. There were two caravans blocking the roadway, so we couldn't go the way the staff had told us to and had to find our own way there.

On arrival, the caravan was horrible! The bedrooms smelt and they were boiling! We found ants in some of the rooms, so we asked to be moved.

The new caravan was much better, although the vacuum cleaner didn't work! We didn't really stay on the site during the daytime, as we went touring round Great Yarmouth and other places.

On the nightime, the family played bingo, I think it was £8.50 for a book of 5 tickets and only 3 rows. Too expensive for us!

The entertainment was absolutely rubbish! The only good act was the comedian on the Friday before we were due to go home. To be honest though, the entertainment staff were friendly and made sure everyone got stuck into the activities.

The drinks were way expensive. Over £20 for one round for a family?! Ridiculous!
Overall, the holiday was NOT at all what we expected it to be! And especially for what we paid, we will definitely not be going there again.

Caister is the best place by far, that's where we will be going next year anyway!

" I was a bit worried about what... "

I was a bit worried about what California Cliffs was going to be like after reading the previous reviews but I was pleasantly surprised!

Our caravan was clean but there were a couple of minor problems (a door knob missing, we couldn't open one of the doors) which we reported straight away and within half an hour a maintenance man had fixed them.

The next morning when we went to cook breakfast we had no gas in the cylinders, which we reported again. The gas was changed within half an hour again and I found most of the staff really helpful and friendly.

Especially the guy who worked in the arcades who had started turning the machines off at the end of the night and after begging and fluttering of the eyelids, he let us have a go of the dancing machine which we had previously been on the night before well after closing!

The entertainment was even bearable; apart from the worst 'band' I have ever seen - BRIT CHIX ROCKS - doing terrible covers of decent songs. The men seemed to like them though as they were strutting about in knickers and corsets!

We didn't eat in there, preferring to cook our own and there is also a reasonable fish and chip shop on site. This is quite a small campsite but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park to anyone.

The beach nearby is absolutely fantastic, really unspoilt and the sand was lovely.

Do not be put off by the previous reviews, this is a great, value for money camp, it cost 4 of us £20 each with the sun £9.50 holiday vouchers, including entertainment passes and bedding and electricity/gas.

THUMBS UP!

" Just returned home after a lovely... "

Just returned home after a lovely 4-night stay at this park. We had a bronze caravan for myself, my partner and our 21-month old daughter.

We booked through the Sun newspaper holiday offer, so the stay cost us just £38! What a bargain!

Although we didn't use much of the site facilities, we were very happy with the site as a whole. The staff were every so friendly, smiling and helpful, and we were checked in quickly and efficiently.

The park was very clean and tidy throughout our stay. The caravan was clean and well-equipped. There was a lovely play park for our daughter.

We spent a lot of the time visiting different places in the area. Thrigby Animal Gardens a few miles down the road is excellent.

Another day we hired a boat on the Broads at Wroxham. We could easily have spent another week or two there just to see everything.

The site is in an excellent spot, as there are so many different places to visit and things to do and none of them are very far away.

We are planning a return visit, maybe next year, to see some more of the area.

" Just read some reviews about park... "

Just read some reviews about park resorts I can only comment on California cliffs.

I do find the staff uncooperative, rude and quite aggressive especially in the owners department.

No-one seems to take the complaints seriously. Losing paperwork is the norm. If you are promised something make sure you get it in writing and you do copies, so then if they loose it you have a little proof of what was promised - although sometimes not worth the paper it is written on.

I must admit though the park is fairly clean and tidy, never yet seen much litter about.

The Sparky Crew are about the only ones that seem to work very very hard, to make the kids holiday a good one. Most of the acts in the club have been excellent, but the drinks are a bit expensive.

Staff need to get their customer service skills sorted, this will go a long way to make the park a good place to holiday.

The park is in a good location ideal for Yarmouth, close to the beach and good walks.

Its a shame that these people have had a bad holiday and will not use any park resorts again. This is not the image to have. I cannot understand why they can't see this.

" Myself, my husband, his parents and... "

Myself, my husband, his parents and our 3 children visited this park in August. We booked two gold grade 2 bedroom caravans. The accommodation was poor as in one caravan the shower did not work properly and I was nearly scalded, this was reported but never dealt with. In the other caravan there was no bedroom or bathroom heating which should be included in a gold caravan. It was also next to a rather busy bus route which ran until late at night.

Reports made and forms filled out to reception seem to have been lost? and since returning home and complaining in writing they seem to have no such reports. The evening entertainment is fine for children although the show bar is rather tired looking, but I found the gifts in the Sparky store to all be a very reasonable price for children.

Access to the beach is good for able people down a slope and stairs and the beach itself is nice. The resort bar/restaurant is also not worth a visit as they we're understaffed and unwilling to help or even serve you. I cannot comment on the food as after it took 15 mins to get a drink and then we could not find any menus we gave up and travelled into Gt Yarmouth.

My family and I will not be visiting a Park resort holiday again , we will stick to the trusted Haven resorts as we have always received what we have paid for.

" Avoid at all costs ... Staff were... "

Avoid at all costs ... Staff were very rude, bordering aggressive and that was just the girls on reception!

Don't expect a smile and a cheery welcome, anyone would think you were there to enjoy yourselves.

Drinks and food on site are astronomically priced, caravans not properly cleaned ... we cleaned it ourselves in the end.

All the parts of the parks are named after birds ... we stayed in Bittern, once bittern twice shy.

" Myself, Mum and Daughter booked a... "

Myself, Mum and Daughter booked a Silver Grade caravan for 1 week. When we arrived we were told we had to wait until 4pm to check in - quite normal with campsites!

This gave us the chance to look around the show caravans that were on show. Very nice we thought and looked forward to seeing ours, we only waited about 5 minutes to get our keys but we were one of the first people in line!!

When we entered our caravan we were disappointed, it smelled musky but was overall quite clean, The TV was not tuned in and we were a bed sheet set short! These matters were resolved with 2hours. The basic utensils were not good with no spatula or baking trays for the oven, and the cutlery had to be re washed! I don’t think we could of told the difference between silver and bronze!

The prices of the drinks are astronomical with a G & T, vodka and coke and a fruit shoot coming to just under £10!!

The swimming pool is a lot smaller than it looks on all the web sites, and there is no deep end as in the deepest end I could stand up and it was up to my chest (I am 5'5!) so it was not possible to swim in, we went in one day and the doors to the outside pool were closed, but the indoor pool was freezing, so cold my daughter was physically shaking! I only assume they turn the heat off when the outside pool is closed!

Most of the staff were pleasant but a few were far from friendly. There was no presence of the staff as there is in pontins etc. Evening entertainment was ok with a few good acts, but the sound system was poor, often with the entertainment being to loud for the room causing distortion from the speakers.

We made the best of it by going out most days as it is far to expensive to spend the day and night on the complex and there are not a lot of facilities, mostly arcade machines, the entertainment complex is set out so you have to walk through the arcade to get the pool and both bars, Which is not great!

Overall it was not that good, and we have said we will never go again and we will not be tempted to visit another Park Resort Holiday park, I think I will stick with the likes of Pontins, Butlins and Haven, at least they seem to want to make sure you have a good time and not just take your money!!!

" Stayed in a bronze... "

Stayed in a bronze caravan(questionable!!). Upgraded(!?) By paying £50 and it was a complete waste of money as the caravan was dirty, poorly equipped and poorly maintained.

When we arrived at the park it took over an hour to check in due to poor levels of staffing. The caravan was dirty (toothpaste all over bathroom area, smell of urine coming from carpet in bathroom), the table in the dining area had wobbly legs so had to be wedged with cardboard, the light fittings were broken, windows were full of mould from condensation.

On arrival we did not have enough bed linen and it took them 4 days to get it to us. Oven did not work (great in self catering!!) The gas went out every time you closed the oven door. Although this was resolved it ruined a whole evening for us and cost us for the food.

Park Resorts have not been at all interested in these complaints (there were many other issues too) not at the time we made them when we were there or since we returned and contacted their head office. We have just been passed from one person to the next. This matter remains unresolved. My only advice I could give is DONT GO THERE!!.
