Beautiful location and all amenities you could wish for

Aug 2010, Debbie

We stayed a week at California Cliffs in May. The caravan was a bronze type. Found it very comfortable, clean and well maintained, with everything we needed. It was booked direct with the owners, not through Park Resorts, and was a lot cheaper even after paying for the optional club passes. The kids loved the club entertainment especially the Sparky crew and the dancing activities. The swimming pools were clean and had a lifeguard on duty all the time. The club facilities made for a relaxing holiday as we could sit down for a bit while the kids enjoyed themselves, after spending the day at the beach or at Great Yarmouth itself. California Cliffs is in a beautiful location, much closer to the beach than are most of the other parks, our caravan was just a few minutes walk from the beach. The California Tavern which was just 5 mins walk away served really good meals. We would definitely stay at California Cliffs again.

I have just came back from Park Resorts California Cliffs and we had a great time, me, grandma and three kids 8,6 and 2. I have been to a number of other Park Reorts sites and they have been ok, apart from Kessingland Beach, which was awful. I was really impressed with this site. We had a Gold caravan which was in a great location, near to the adventure park and all weather pitch. The caravan was really clean couldn't pick fault with it at all. The rest of the park and bars and pool were clean and the staff were all really friendly. Pools are a bit on the small side but they were fine for us. The beach is about 10 mins walk but is not sandy more pebbly, we tended to go into Yarmouth for the beach, about 10 mins drive.
I will definately book on to this site again.

  • Advice: We will be boking on that site again, kids loved it.

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at Park Resorts Califonia Cliffs, Great Yarmouth, we managed to find a relatively cheap week staying in a PlATINUM caravan....IT WAS ALL TAHT WE COULD HAVE ASKED FOR.
Being a bit of a park resorts "Gold" accommodation expert, I was overjoyed with our Platinum caravan, it was clean, luxurious, and in a great location, complete with decking, much to the joy of my 13yr old son & 8 year old daughter, we had breakfast outside most mornings, and tea!!
The park itself was right near the beach, although the wind was bracing it was a beautiful setting, 5 minutes drive from Yarmouth itself.
All staff we came across were freindly and helpful and always made a point of speaking to you, the team stars were brill working very hard to entain the kids and adults all night.
The only thing I found dissapointing was the size of the pools, not overly big or much to do in them really ( for the kids who dont want to "swim lengths" )and health & safety rules spoil the fun - but then that isnt just at california cliffs.
The food was brill a good variety, restaurant great value for money, chip shop, chinese, and usual fast food.
An excellent time had by us all and I would highly reccommend it.

Never again will I be staying at this dirty place! We had booked a 4 night stay and was very close to staying elsewhere. On arrival we was given the keys to our Gold 3 bed caravan. As soon as we open the door it was apparent from the smell that the van was not up to scratch. Stained carpet, stained chairs, filthy fridge and cupboards. Beds advertised as made up on arrival where a mess. Bed linen was covered in fluff and hairs. Toilet seat broken and hanging off, loo dirty and pubic hair in the shower. Kettle covered in tea stains the list goes on !! After taking pictures we went to reception to report the un cleaned van. House keeping manager came back to the van so we could show her how dirty it all was she told us she would happily stay there! We was offered another van and we asked to veiw it first before agreeing to accept it . It was a little better but same basic cleaning jobs had not been done. We asked for the van to be re cleaned and was told to be there to supervise the cleaner. We felt uncomfortable doing this and asked for the house keeping manager to meet us there. She didn't turn up! We showed the cleaners our concerns in the van and then left to purchase sleeping bags and pillows. When we arrived back at about 20.00 put the key in the door and walked in to find another family had been put in our van ! All managent had gone home so had to wait while one came back. After a little wait we was told they was very sorry but the only van they had for us to stay in was the first dirty van we was offered. I could of cried!! We had no choice but to purchase a bottle of bleach and clean the van ourselves. A third van was offered the next day which was alot better then the first two but still needed cleaning again by us. By this time we had lost the first 2 days of our holiday. We was given two bottles of wine ,two site mascot toys for the kids and a full refund (yet to be recived). The rest of our stay was poor . We found the whole place was dirty. Toilets very dirty, tiles off the walls just really poor cleaning in all parts. The bar had run out of basic stuff on 2 nights. Very annoying that after all the trouble we had I couldnt even get a stiff drink because they had no mixers. We took photos of most of the dirt ang grime and will be forwarding them on to head office. My advice stay well clear !!

just back from california cliffs. There was me and my partner and my dog ,German Shepherd we were given a bronze caravan which to be honest i thought well its bound to be rough if its given to dog owners.Could not have been more wrong. The staff were brilliant, the caravan was immaculate and modern .the site was very clean and tidy.I reported my gas bottle needed replacing and by the time i got back from reception he was there changing it!.The ground staff were also very friendly.the beach was 2 minutes walk.the facilities for families with young kids were great.I checked it out for my nephews. For families on a limited budget this would be ideal as no big fair grounds and expensive arcades.swimming pool indoor and outdoor,go-karts,golf, bikes.all on site.
Very highly recommened.happy to sent pictures as proof..

When we arrived on the Saturday, we found the check in to be very chaotic and not very organised. We booked a Bronze 2 caravan and to be honest it was very basic and quite frankly wasn't worth the money. The main drains to the caravan were connected straight to the main sewer so the smell was disgusting when we complained it took three days for them to send a maintenance man, who realised that there wasn;t a trap to stop the sewer gases coming straight back into van, which was quickly rectified. Then on the tuesday night the Carbon Monoxide Monitor started alarming, at 9am when office opened we went and advised them and they said they would send somebody round, when we returned we found they had just ripped the monitor off the wall and hadn't checked the appliances to see why the monitor went off. I asked them about this and they very rudely advised me that by law they don;t have to supply a monitor. Maybe so, but if the monitor went off, it went off for a reason, so I had to fight Park Resorts and Hoseasons for them to get a Corgi Reg engineer to check apliances. Never Again would I go to a Park Resorts Holiday Camp.

We have just returned from a weeks family holiday at California Cliffs. The children (four and eight) had a whale of a time and spent every day with something to do at Sparky's Klub and every night being entertained at the Clifftop Showbar.
We booked a silver caravan which was spacious, clean and well equipped. The only occasion we had to contact reception was when a circuit breaker tripped late at night. It was fixed within a fifteen minutes by a friendly maintainance man.
We have stayed at Park Resorts Camber Sands before and found that site too big and had too many folks for the facilities. California Cliffs is just right in that there are enough there to make it lively but not so many that it is overrun. Having said that you need to get into the club early on, around bingo time, to secure a good seat.
Special mention has to go to the entertainment staff, the Teamstars, who work from morning till night to ensure everyone, particularly the kids, have a great time. The staff do change from year to year but this years bunch were an absolute pleasure. My daughter (four) was entranced by Spike and Alistair so much so that a threat to tell them she had been naughty day brought out her best behaviour for the rest of the day.
Everyone at the site had a smile even the guy running the go-karts slipped us some extra tokens as the kids went on almost every day.
The whole holiday was topped on the last night when my two were given a special award (there were six) by the Teamstars which each of them has proudly put on display in their bedrooms. Everyone who joined in the daily actvities got certificates but the special award left my son (eight) speechless... not an easy task.
This is an ideal family holiday and I would not hesitate to recommend it. There is something to suit all ages from craft corner for under fives to a teenagers club called the mix, they even managed to get some sulky teenagers to work out a dance and perform it on stage at party night.

We stayed at California Cliffs for a 3 night break, and were very impressed. It is a lovely little site. The accommodation was nice, clean and had everything we needed. We were encouraged at Reception to upgrade, but resisted, and there was no need anyway. The takeaway was better than at a lot of Haven sites we have been to, plenty of choice, didn't eat in restaurant so can't comment on that. With the California Tavern virtually next door doing really nice meals, we didn't need to. Found the club to be ok, fairly standard holiday park decor, entertainment probably superior to what you get in a lot of places. Didn't get hassled to finish up last drinks as soon as you had bought them, after being encouraged to get more rounds in before the bar closes, like at a well known competitor, beginning with H. Not that I have anything against them, we have had some fantastic holidays at many of their sites, but they have become money grabbing of late, and you don't get that at Park Resorts or Parkdean. The beach, which is just across the road, is a lovely little beach, and long enough to walk along if you are not "sit on the beach" type people. You have Great Yarmouth just down the road, and the Norfolk Broads a short drive away, so in a nice position too. Would definitely go there again.

Booked a last minute 2 night break at California Cliffs on bank holiday weekend for the special offer price of £129 which I thought was quite good. Caravan was a "Bronze" model which is quite basic but plenty good enough. The parking next to the caravan was a bit of a struggle sometimes as other cars sometimes blocked the way. The club at night is very loud and bassy and it is very difficult to get to sleep before it finally finished at 1am. The caravan cleanliness was acceptable but the bathroom smelt a little. The chip shop is overpriced. The swimming pool was good and was quite warm which was nice. Reception staff were polite.
Overall though it was a very nice 2 night break and would go back again.

We have just returned from a fab holiday at California Cliffs. We originally booked 4 nights but decided to stay another day! We were unsure what to expect as we had read some not great reviews but we were so pleased with what we found. We had booked a platinum caravan which absolutely stunned me! It was so modern and had en suite and a wicked power shower and walk in wardrobe/dressing room. It was located in a lovely quiet area of the park but was only a minute away from the entertainment complex. We debated offering Park Resorts our house as a swap!!! We had stayed in a platinum at a Haven park last year and it wasn't half as nice as this one. I'm a bit of a clean freak and usually give bathroom and kitchen a bit of a clean myself when we go away (what with having small children) but it was spotless so no cleaning for me! The park itself was very clean and well kept as was the entertainment complex.
The swimming pool was clean and lots of fun with a pool for babies/toddlers too. The food in the restaurant was of good quality at a reasonable price. There is also a Fish and chips takeaway which is good. The evening entertainment was superb. Our kids were so well catered for with the fantastic Team Stars and Sparkys Krew Club who were so enthusiastic and really interacted with the children. From 7.30 til 9pm it was all about the kids and it was non stop with competitions and dances. My 5 yr old daughter has returned with 5 certificates! I'm afraid I cannot comment on the entertainment after that as we were usually so tired it was back off to the caravan, but I heard it was very good.
I would strongly recommend a holiday at California Cliffs.

I booked the holiday before I read the reviews, then I was terrified, I was expecting a disaster! What I got was a smaller, quieter holiday park, 2 mins away from the beach. What a fantastic suprise!
The caravan was Bronze standard, we found this clean and exceptable and similar to a similar standard to our Haven holiday last year. The park was family friendly with all of the amenities that we expected from the brochure. Then pool was clean and the shop was reasonably priced and well stocked, not something that you can say about other holiday parks. The staff were friendly and the entertainment was fantastic dor children and later became fun for adults. The restaurant was reasonably priced, tasty and included pub food and costa coffee.
Being outside of Yarmouth was a bonus, we kept out of the hustle and bustle but still only had a five minute drive into Yarmouth itself and drove to Potter Higham to the start of the broads. The beach was 2 mins away but lovely and clean - very breezy out of season though!
California Cliffs offerend everything that we found from holidays from similar companies on a smaller and less crowded scale. The other reviews were probably accurate in 2007/2008 but I would really recommend it now. We booked our summer holiday for this year before we left and got a great deal, I can't wait! Don't be put off, they have obviously put in a lot of effort and it has paid off. I had a briliant time.

  • Advice: lots of tourist sites to visit for all areas
  • Activities: Grat Yarmouth, Sandringham, the broads

Myself, my husband and my 3 kids, as well as in laws spent a week here in 2008, and although the weather was awful, we had a great time. My Daughter had swimming lessons booked with Matthew, the life guard and after only 2 lessons, she is now a confident swimmer, he was great. And he only charged me for 1 lesson. The caravan we stayed in was great, no problems at all, and the bar area and restaurant was quiet, but nice enough. The best part of the park tho in my opinion, was the evening entertainment. My 3 kids enjoyed every second of it, and even joined Sparkle for breakfast 1 morning. We were so thrilled with the park, that we booked again for this year, and we cannot wait!!!!
