Pleasant Stay
Just returned back from a short break at the 4* Fanabe (16-20 June 06). GOOD BITS: The hotel is very clean, modern and well serviced and is in a good location with plenty of shops/bars etc in its immediate vicinity. Rooms were modern, spacious and the bathroom was lovely (the power shower was the best we have ever encountered throughout our extensive travels!). Hotel throughout is immaculately clean. NOT SO GOOD BITS!: Plastic sun loungers with a daily 'charge' for matresses. Main pool very busy however roof top terrace offers great views and plenty more space than the ground floor pool area - but it is very unattractive - it literally is a concrete roof with sunlounges plonked on - nothing attractive or relaxing about it. Bar service very slow. Food is typical buffet style but very bland and repetitive. I personally, found it difficult to decifer vegetarian options as no signage to identify certain meals and no matter what I pointed to, I was advised, by non-English speaking chefs "fish" (when clearly it wasn't!!). Meal times get very busy. I would advise going the minute they start serving breakfast at 7am or go just before they finish at 10am. Dinner is the same experience - again, go at 6.30pm. I would go B&B unless you get an amazing price for H/B as so many lovely restaurants to choose from. Weather was 25 degrees and warm but very cloudy - but that was just one of those things unfortunately. GENERAL: The Fanabe is a nice 4*hotel and, providing you get it at a realistic price, I think most would be pleased with their stay here. We got real value for money by using our usual internet booking company 'reserveahotelonline.com' - we paid £21 each per night half board!! which we thought was a fab price (as we just wanted a cheapie pre-wedding get away). The only problem we had - on a personal level - was the fact that 6 months ago we stayed for a week at the Costa Adeje Gran Hotel (it's 5* sister hotel down the road) and it's difficult not to compare the two. The Gran is, in every conceivable way, far superior to the Fanabe - which is why we 'moonlighted' there most evenings!! (It may sound pretencious but touches like posh toiletries, peanuts with drinks, waiter service, bathrobes and slippers, wooden sunloungers with leather matresses and enormous elegant rooms really make the finishing touches for us ..... but we are a bit fussy!! SUMMARY: Fanabe is a nice hotel with good rooms and good location (but if you are able to stretch just that little bit further with your budget - go to the Gran - it's worth every penny extra!!) excellent
Just got back from a week in this hotel (june 9th) My husband and I had a fantastic time. The hotel was well situated in the more sedate area of Fanabe, although only a short distance from puerto colon,a beautiful little harbour with many resturaunts and friendly bars. The lively centre of Playa Las Americas a good 25 minute walk or 5 euros in a taxi is easily reachable. The rooms of the hotel were spacious and decorated to a high standard, and the daily housekeeping service helping to maintain this throughout our week. The pool area very comfortable with a welcoming pool and a relaxed mood on securing a sunbed, although cushions for the beds were 1.20 euros per day each. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful from the time we checked in to departure. We will hopefully be returning to this hotel sometime in the near future.
Superb
Just got back from a week at Fanabe and cannot speak highly enough about the place. Food, service, clenliness etc were all first class and did not have any problems getting a table for our party of 6. The swimming pool was excellent and I don't think my children were out of the water all week they were having so much fun! I would highly recommend the hotel to anybody and we were very tempted to try and stay on for another week. We will definately be going back.
Superb!!!
After reading some of the reviews here i was a bit anxious going to this hotel because i was not sure that it would be of a good standard. I could not have been more wrong!!!!! Everything about this hotel was great, i honestly cannot fault it! It is situated in an ideal location, the area of Costa Adeje is beautiful! The hotel was immaculate and the rooms were so comftorbal! The food was also great, there was a really big variety and the food was always very hot and fresh! I stayed at this hotel for a week in May, had a super holiday and will definately be returning to this hotel next year!
Great Family Holiday
We have had a fabulous week at the Fanabe Hotel. Cleanliness of hotel superb as was the food. Staff all friendly and helpful. Will be returning Easter next year with more family members!
Fantastic Rooms
We stayed here in September 2005. We had a fantastic time, the rooms were spotless, cleaned every day. Beautiful bathrooms with double sinks and bidet. 2 sofas in the room which was very spacious. Breakfast was excellent we only stayed B & B so cannot comment on the food in the evenings. We loved it, great price too we booked through Bedbookers which differs a lot from other sites check before you book and compare the difference.
Never Again
Having stayed at 4 star hotels before, I do not understand how this hotel warranted more than a 3. Do not expect a bar of soap in your room never mind shampoo. Expect to pay for your towels and extra for a matress if you want to spend the day by the pool. If you like your food, then go to a different hotel. In this hotel you have to lay your own breakfast table and the food choice is Very restricted. Also when you get up from your table to get yourself another cup of tea/ coffee, expect to find some one else sitting there on your return. The table service staff are likely to have removed your half eaten breakfast and handed the table to someone else, leaving you to hunt for another table and start again. The location resort is very good but the hotel is on a hill, so expect to lose some weight when combined with the comments in the previous paragraph. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is spotlessly clean, also the entertainment is better than average, but the good points stop there. Gary, Ryarsh ,Kent England.
Our Honeymoon....
Young honeymooners We are currently staying at the Fanabe and as you can see it has internet access... The rooms are quite nice, very clean, the lack of fridge as someone else pointed out is a bit of a pain if you want to keep bottled water cool while sunbathing on balcony. Meal times are horrendous!!! There is no seats available and you end up going elsewhere rather than walking round all night waiting on someone to finish. Also there is no complimentary drink with your dinner, so although your half board you still have to pay for a glass of water with your meal. I would recommend not to go half board at this hotel as the meal times are so bad you won´t eat there all that often. Although we sound very negative it was a lovely place. The roof top terrace is very quiet and peacefull away from the kids at the ground floor pool, (Don´t agree with having to pay for a mattress for sun lounger though). Courtyard pool was quite nice as well although a bit busy for me, my husband liked the pool though. It is not as cold as previous review stated, just right i think. To sum up.... Great Place, Gorgeous hotel, Great Mini Golf, Great Weather, just don´t eat at hotel.
Oh dear
Have just stayed in this hotel 4th-11th Nov 2005. The hotel as others have said is spotlessly clean. The bedding is changed regularly and the towels daily. rooms are spacious and basically that is all I can be positive about. Although the rooms are clean there is no mini fridge just a big space in the cupboard where it should be. There is no kettle or condiment tray and the only meal time where you can get a hot drink is breakfast, so ended up buying a kettle, mugs, coffee and sugar to make a coffee which we had to drink black as the milk would have gone off quickly. No big deal you might say but if you like your cups of coffee it is a big deal and being a 4 star hotel would have hoped this was included. The pool was a joke for sun bathing it is surronded by 4 floors of the hotel on three sides and it is always shaded so everyone battles to get a sun bed on the side that is in the sun and you end up all being squashed together. However, there are two solariums on the roof top one side is for nudists although didn't see any and the other side is for anyone apart from the nudists. These are quite nice and have a plunge pool which I have to say once youv'e plunged your straight out as they are freezing cold but they do cool you down. There is a daily charge for mattresses for the beds one euro twenty per person per day and again as a 4 star hotel I find this a cheek as they should be included. I do also have to say that there were dirty glasses and jugs on the roof top when we got there and still there when we left at the end of the week also the drinks machine was empty and after informing them it took two days to restock. Meals times, not alot to say except a cattle market, very poor choice and repetative, cold and the most miserable and most unhelpful staff I have ever had the misfortune to meet apart from one. The rest of the staff weren't much better neither and I know people say that the wages they earn we would be to but we also work hard at our jobs to be able to go away and if it wasn't for the tourist industry I dare say they would be worse off. Lets be honest a liitle smile and a friendly greeting is all most people want but you dont get it here which is a shame cos the staff could make up for other down falls instead of adding to them. I cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel but I'm afraid I cannot praise anything else when you go half board you don't expect to have to eat out because of the poor meals. I will certaintly go back to Tenerife but I will not be staying at this hotel again.
good holiday but.........
The hotel has just been refurbished and could not fault the rooms at all. We had clean sheets 3 times in the week and the towels were changed daily. They were also decorated very stylishly. The food was ok but it was such a scramble at meal times we ate out twice. It was quite repetative and often cold! I agree with one other comment about the pool area, it was just like looking out on colditz, and as the hotel was 4 stories high the pool area was only in the sun part of the day, so the area that had the sun the most you were crammed in like sardines. Not nice at all!. The pool was also very cold. I also noticed dirty cups and saucers from someones coffee had been sitting in the same place for severall days! A full ashtray was in the same place all week!.Didn't really have much to do with the entertainment except we did watch the grease performance and in the words of my 15 year old daughter it was rubbish! It was a bit of a killer walking back up the hill each day especially in the heat, and wouldn't recommend it to the elderly or unfit. Despite all this we did have a good week, but would I go back to this hotel again? Definitely not!!!!!
