Bayview Hotel

This is the first time in Malta. The people were friendly, buses great for getting around the island, and tours gave lots of information. However this was let down by the hotel. Arriving at 8.15pm we were told the restaurant was closed and would have to go locally to eat.
In the description of the restaurants it implies there are more than one, Chinese & Indian also, however you have to pay to eat there. It also states a la carte menu - there wasn't one and the food generally not that good. Same salad bar all week, same breakfast cooked meat & cereals, a choice of cornflakes /muesli all week. Alternative nights desert was melon /ice cream, then a choice of same 3 flans and /or ice cream.
The rooms were basic, however I must say clean, although overlooking the harbour, the road very busy in the evenings. Other guests we spoke to also felt like us and we were told that perhaps in Malta you should go a grade higher in hotels, which is something we will consider if we go again.
The service provided by the Thomas Cook rep was well below the level expected of a highly respected tour operator.
