" Malta is like Marmite..... "
Submitted By: PenMorgMy husband and I found it very clean, in an excellent state of decor, and what I would expect from a self catering studio in the med. Yes it could be noisy, but we found this was from some younger guests who were also staying there who rolled in at 3am most mornings and were roaring drunk rather than the hotel staff themselves.
The staff were always friendly, helpful, and couldn't do enough for us.
then again, the taxi driver said to us that Malta was like marmite, you either loved it or hated it............but I really couldn't find any fault at all in this resort and would recommend it if someone is genuinely looking for an SC room, but not if you are going expecting hotel style accomodation.
Advice: be prepared to explore to find what you want, and don
Activities: Mgarr air raid shelter

" Fantastic Island and hotel!! "
Submitted By: jack harrisAs soon as we arrived at the White Dolphin we were greeted by the receptionist who accompanied us to our room. We had a beautiful studio apartment overlooking the pool and also the bay of qawra!! The apartment had all what we needed and considering it was a studio it was very spacious with a largish bathroom and fantastic balcony where we enjoyed having our breakfast and most lunches... The staff was extremely helpful and friendly..
Will definitely go back to the White dolphin and recommend it to anyone who wants an economical holiday in the beautiful island of malta.

" Are we all talking about the same... "
Submitted By: Mrs C LeeThere is not much to do in qawra other than if you consider a princess diana tribute pub as a good night out. Even travelling out to the more prestigious st Julians bay was a disappointment, i have had more classier nights out in the grafton bar in liverpool (and those of you who know the area will understand what i am saying!) The best part of the trip was a 'cruise'???!!!!! around malta. This actually means sitting on a giant ferry like cattle with about 100 people. HATED malta, would never go back and wouldn't reccomend to anybody. Most hateable time and ruined what should have been an amazing honeymoon.

There is plenty to do and see in Malta and we are looking forward to returning there next year.

" This was my first holiday away... "
Submitted By: Miss H WhiteleyWe stayed in a studio with a balcony and a sea view. The apartment was lovely and clean with all the essentials i.e. toaster, kettle and even an egg cup!! The oven was electric so just make sure you have plenty of time to cook food!
The only problem we had with the hotel was they didn't clean the room very often; they only changed the sheets and towels once. Also if you want to sunbathe by the pool then do it in the morning because by about 1pm the sun has moved round and you’re in the shade.
The area where we stayed was quite nice but there isn't a lot there apart from a couple of restaurants so we had to keep going to Bugibba. If you want nightlife then I wouldn't stay in that area.
We would go again but maybe a different resort like Sliema or Valletta where it has a bit more bars, restaurants etc but overall it were a good holiday.

" Just got back from Qawra yesterday (... "
Submitted By: Mr B. PearceIf you don't want to cater for yourself the Hotel can provide all meals with breakfast would you believe at 1Lm (about £1.60p).
The swimming Pool is medium sized but quite adequate and the best time to use it is in the morning as the sun moves round about noon so you are in shadow. Not cold though. Should you wish to swim in the sea well it's just a stride over the road and believe me is so warm. Over the week the weather was superb too.
Entertainment is on hand in the Hotel if you wish to stay "In house" with the usual karaoke on a Saturday night.
The Staff are very friendly and helpful and they really made our holiday. We can't wait to pay another visit.
The Hotel is set in the quiet area of Qawra but is nevertheless very convenient for all ones needs. There are two Mini markets a couple of minutes down the road and the main bus terminus is only quarter of an hour's walk away. Having said that there are bus stops opposite the Hotel if you wish to visit Sliema and the fares are so cheap (from 0.20c to 0.50c).
If you like a beer in the local bars a pint will set you back about 0.80p on average.
All in all we can thoroughly recommend the White Dolphin. Really good value for money.
The rates for rooms (not per person by the way) are from 15Lm for a Studio Apartment to 35Lm for a Penthouse and believe me the views from the Penthouse Apartment are something else. Unbelievable.
It was the first time that my wife and I have made our own holiday arrangements and it all worked out well. Sorry now we didn't book for the fortnight.
By way of interest a taxi from Luqa Airport to your Hotel and return will cost you anything from 16Lm to 20Lm.

Submitted By: Mr P.B HUNTNicki the rep put our minds at rest the staff made us welcome problem solved. Accommodation spotless food in restaurant fantastic. Just far enough out of town centre for quiet but only 2 minute walk away so not far away.
Pool was clean and busy but 2 minutes across road rocky coastline bathing platforms and the locals use the area for swimming so it can’t be that bad.
I would not hesitate in recommending white dolphin to anybody. Nicki sorted 2 fantastic days out swimming with the dolphins (do it) and castaway well worth it.
We couldn’t find fault with anything and enjoyed our week there (wish I had made it 2) so a big thanks to all the staff. But remember if you want the Hilton book the Hilton.
These apartments will not disappoint you. Nearly forgot go on a bus ride you will not experience anything like it at any theme park.

Submitted By: Mrs Rm ParkerGreat 2 bed apartment, loads of room. We are a family of 5 and we then put the extra bed from under the bed settee in the lounge into the second bedroom and all three children had plenty of room.
Great toaster/ kettle can opener etc all provided and loads of towels. The only down side was the beds are hard but you get used to that.
The pool is not salt water now and yes it does get cooler after lunch without the sun but with such high temperatures in summer that is a great relief also not having to worry about sun block for the kids in the afternoon is great. However if you have kids that don’t swim that well bear in mind that the main pool is very deep, but its very easy to buy arm bands etc down the road, where there are also lidos with sun all day although they are salt water.
The staff at White dolphin are very friendly, the food is great and well priced. The noise from the bar stops at 11 and is not loud before this anyway.
The location is great - just down from shops and a short walk to the main tourist area of the island. I would certainly go again and I would firmly recommend the tour rep as she was brilliant. We don’t normally do excursions but did this time and she was so helpful and great with the kids, they loved her.
Go for the 2 bed apartment here in summer and I would say you are almost guaranteed a good holiday!

Submitted By: Miss LB BurkeThe room was quite small but it was so nice inside, if you are going to go and stay at the white dolphin I would stay in one off the pent houses in there which is a bigger room and includes washing machine etc.
The staff were very polite and helpful always smiling, I would go back and stay at the white dolphin hotel it is the second best hotel which I have stayed in as you cannot beat the Hilton hotel in Malta of course.

Submitted By: Mrs D FreemanVery noisy, could not get to sleep until 4.00 in the morning only to be woke up by the staff dragging out the tables & chairs for the guests at 7.00am!
After 2 nights of this we asked to move to another hotel, but were informed that there was no room elsewhere!
We did pay for an upgrade in the White Dolphin apartments to the penthouse suite, cost us more, but at least we got some sleep & some sunshine on the top floor.

" We stayed here with our two children... "
Submitted By: Mrs L BakerThe apartments were spotlessly clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Although we didn't eat here every night we found the food both pleasing and great value for money. You can get a cooked breakfast for 2 lm. They had a pizza night and a barbecue night which goes down great with kids.
It's not far from Qawra's bars and restaurants and it's also only a short walk into Bugibba or to the buses.
The only downside is that after 1-2 o'clock the swimming pool and sunbeds are in the shade and as it's a salt water pool it gets rather cold.
Also there is not much for the kids to do, but if like us you like to get out about it doesn't pose much of a problem.
I agree that the view wasn't exactly great from the balcony but who wants to sit in apartment all day?
