Madeira Panoramica Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Madeira Panoramico Hotel for two weeks, Dec 20th 2007 - Jan 3rd 2008. It was our first time in Madeira. We fell in love with the island and would love to return one day. If we did, then we would definitely want to stay at the Panoramico. The buffet breakfast was good, the fried eggs were actually edible, plenty of choice. The evening buffet meal was sometimes short on main course choices and the meat could be a bit tough and chewy, however the salad items, soup and sweets were excellent. The major disappointment was with the xmas eve and xmas evening gala dinners. We arrived on Christmas Eve 2007. We were on a bed and breakfast basis so didn't attend the Gala Dinner that evening. The hotel staff were friendly, rooms and public areas very clean. We ate in the a la carte restaurant on site and the food and service was excellent. One night we did eat in the buffet restaurant, but to be honest the choice wasn't great, we have had better. We stayed at the Panoramico for 2 weeks in June 2007 and could find no fault with the Hotel itself, but I would advise to request a room facing the Tennis Court or Pool side as the barking dogs are a real problem around other sides of the hotel. The facilities are 1st.Class and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed at Hotel Panoramico Madeira 18th June 2007 for a week. The facilities were extremely good especially the indoor poola and the Jacuzzi which we used every day to relax after all the walking around Funchal. The Restaurant Buffet was very very good with everything you could wish for, meat and fish every night, loads of fruit and puddings galore. We have stayed in Hotels all over the world on our travels and this rates very high in our opinion. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Wish we could say the same for our Tour Company.

We booked this hotel as a last minute bargain deal, selecting the panoramico above others due to the price. So we were expecting it to be basic, just somewhere to put our head down. What we did find was a very clean ,spacious hotel with great staff, good facilities and an incredible view. the breakfast was the usual bun fight to get what you want , but the choice was very good (and plentiful) . Have a look at the review written by 'Stubbington Bob' on the 30 October 2006. I went at the end of February 2007 and agree with everything said in that review. Great hotel, clean, modern, nice rooms, great maid service, great facilities - nice staff - VERY nice staff, great food, great service. BRILLIANT! As that guy on 'The Fast Show' would say! I have never said it before about anywhere I've stayed (however nice) but I would go again!!

We stayed two nights at this hotel in February 2007. The view from the balcony was fantastic! We had half-board. The breakfasts were amazing - lots of fresh tropical fruit etc. The dinners were also great. We went on to spend the rest of the week at two other hotels on Madeira but neither of them was as good as the Panoramico. Only the staff, bedrooms and true panoramic view make the rating worth 4 stars. The internal public areas are small, some even claustrophobic, with furnishings in need of upgrading. It was very clean and tidy though. Breakfast was OK and just about made the rating, dinner however was definitely below par with little choice or imagination. On arrival at Funchal we had no idea where we would be staying we were told - you have been alocated the Panoramico and off we went. Well our room was on the lower part overlooking the pool and the bay of Funchal, the staff were just brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excelent, the room a little on the small side but well kept and very clean, the minibus service down to the town centre was great even though you had to give a come back pick up time and we mist it but were able to get it back later in the day, the driver... more
