Excellent Accommodation - Bijou hotel in its own stunning grounds. Although a smaller hotel the staff were very professional and accommodating. We and another couple had superior rooms and our only gripe was that these did not have their own sun-loungers on the terrace... more

a nice change from the chain hotels
The reviews of this hotel get pretty much right. The photos don't do it justice - the garden setting is lovely and the 'glass box' architecture makes the most of the views and the light. The rooms are fine, slightly smaller than other hotel zone rooms, but perfectly comfortable and we didn't hear much from the adjacent rooms. The standard bathrooms are not quite 5-star and there's no indoor swimming pool. On the other hand, the service is really good. The main negative is the steep 200-yard walk down to the Monumental road and there's no courtesy bus. However, the local buses have got much easier to use with electronic tickets and displays at stops giving accurate arrival timings.
What an Oasis!!
Had the most amazing time in this hotel!! Everything you've read about it is true!! The location is beautiful with stunning scenery all around. Yes, the bar is a bit tame at night, but I quite liked that, it's nice to be able to relax without having to chat to people or listen to music. The outdoor seated area just off the bar was particularly nice. The breakfast was fantastic every morning, everything you could possibly want was on offer. We ate in the restaurant one night but it was quite a limited menu, I had steak which was a little tasteless but the atmoshere, eating outdoors, more than made up for the food. The bedrooms are getting a little jaded but I heard the staff discussing renovations in February '08 so make enquiries before you book if you are goig there around that time as you may end up in a building site.Overall I would give this hotel 10 out of 10, I can't wait to return!
What a place!
We arrived in the morning, just after breakfast, but could get a nice snack. All personnel spoke perfect English and were all very friendly and helpfull. The restaurant is the best of the island. We also went to other recommended places, but this restaurant stayed our number one for the week. The rooms are all facing the great garden. The pool area and the spa are very clean. We went for a relaxing vacation and came back totally replenished!!!
Nice place but bad room
It's a nice place and well situated near Funchal. But when i get there i found it to confused. Didn'te notice where the reception was, so had to go through corridors....The arquitecture is esplendid. But inside the rooms i was disapointed. Bad decoration, you could hear your neighbour quite well. Has no sea view. I didn't get there anymore.
A wonderful place to relax
Everything that has been said is true. A really wonderful place to relax, not a kid in sight. The service and food are excellent, we went in mid June and found the weather to be mainly cloudy during our 2 week stay. We hired a car for five days and in that time had great fun touring the whole island, I really enjoyed driving the mountain roads through the clouds but not recommended for the more nervous drivers out there, steep hills and hairpin bends, great fun!! My only disappointment with the hotel was the total lack of atmosphere in the bar at night. On previous holidays the bar has been the meeting place to discuss with fellow travellers places to go an eat while on holiday. This bar was so lacking in atmosphere that it was deserted
Fabulous in every way!
Everything about this hotel is amazing, the setting is spectacular with mountain views and stunning gardens, the garden terrace for the superb brekfast was the most amazing way to start the day, the rooms are great, maid service twice a day, the leisure suite and pool were great and the staff could not have been more helpful. It's a short walk into the rather bland 'hotel zone' but 15 mins walk into the lovelier old town and the port. I would recommend this hotel to anyone but particularly if you want a chilled out, luxurious retreat for couples for a week with no louts, no screaming kids, no hassles at all. This truly is as good as it looks in the photographs.
Secret Hideaway
Never having visited Madeira before we were looking for guidance on where to stay. We trusted the reviews and decided to go for the Quinta da Casa Branca. We were not disappointed and loved the hotel. The staff are great, the place is spotlessly clean and apart from a little background street noise it is peacefully quiet. It is an easy walk in to town and there are plenty of restaurants close by if you do not want to eat in the hotel. There is no doubt it is a couples only hotel, so don't take the tribe there. The other reviews will tell you all about the hotel, just trust them it's great
A great place to unwind
Having recently returned from a weeks break at the wonderful Quinta da Casa Branca we felt we should share our views. The hotel was fantastic, peaceful and relaxing, set in extensive beautifully mantained gardens. The breakfasts offered a wide and varied selection served by very friendly staff. The hotels own restaurant was first class, offering great food with service to match. The hotel spa offered a gym, jacuzzi and steam room as well as some fabulous treatments (at extra cost). Would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to relax and unwind.
Peaceful oasis in Funchal
Had a lovely week at the Quinta earlier in the year. Thoroughly enjoyed staying there. Rooms were spacious and well equiped. Pool area is beautifully secluded. The breakfast buffet was very comprehensive. For a treat the restaurant is of high quality. We enjoyed several delicious dinners, with great service. The hotel prides itself on its gardens and certainly there was a lovely 'feel' about the place while the bar makes a perfect place from which to survey the gardens. We plan to return at some point
Wonderful relaxing haven
A fantastic hotel. Great rooms overlooking gardens. Good location - quiet but easy to get to restaurants etc. Staff were outstanding - very helpful indeed. Make sure you hire a safe - now free with a 40 Euro deposit for the key. Would most definitely go back.
