My husband, daughter and myself stayed at the Electra village from 14th September until 28th September. First of all we thought the apartment was lovely, i havent had a holiday in 30 years so if the apartments were dated, i didnt notice it, they had everything we needed. The staff at the village were always very helpful and our cleaner who came in most days was very friendly and helpful. The entertainment was ok although we were in Cyprus for our other daughters wedding and she was staying at another hotel so we spent quite a few evenings out on the town. The pool was fantastic and always kept clean. We were self catering but the only thing i actually made in the apartment was beans on toast, we upgraded to half board and it worked out cheaper than going out for meals like breakfast and dinner. The food was very good also. There were still quite a few children around (i thought kids were not supposed to take holidays during school term) but it didnt spoil my holiday having kids running around, they were all just enjoying their holiday and no trouble at all. My daughter took part in the Karaoke evening and i was really worried because people can be a bit cruel (my daughter sounds like Hilda Ogden when she sings) but everyone was great, they all cheered and sang along. There was just such a nice feeling of friendliness and comeraderie amongst the holidaymakers (mostly all of them were brits). I would recommend Electra to anyone of any age for a holiday at this time of the year, I dont know what its like in high season so cant comment on that. It was quite a walk from the nightlife but that isnt such a bad thing. Every other car is a taxi and as long as you agree the price with the driver before you set off, there shouldnt be any problems. So for a couple in their 50's and a daughter in her 20's this was a great place to have a holiday and we would definately come back again.

APPARTMENTS A BIT DATED, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BE UPDATED LATER THIS YEAR. POOL AREA IS VERY NICE. ITS ABOUT 50 YARDS FROM THE SEA FRONT WHERE THERE IS A PATHWAY THAT TAKES YOU TO AYIA NAPPA HARBOUR AND IF YOU TURN RIGHT THE PATH TAKES YOU TO SANDY BAY AND THEN ONTO NISSI BAY THEY ARE VERY GOOD ,BOTH HAVE PLENTY OF WATER SPORTS . COME BACK BY THE MAIN ROAD AND CALL IN AT THE WELL PUB OWNED BY ANDREAS AND MARRIED TO A SCOUSER GOOD FOOD TOO. THE ELECTRA IS SITUATED ABOUT 25 MINUTE WALK INTO THE CENTRE OF AYIA NAPPA, A NICE BAR THERE IS CALLED THE GOLDEN ARROW, THE OWNER CHARLIE IS GREAT.IF YOU WANT TO STAY AT A NICE CENTRAL HOTEL IN NAPPA , THE NESTOR HOTEL IS VERY GOOD. Me and my family have just returned from these apartments and i wouldn't recommend it to my dog never mind a human. Where do i start! Our room(3501) was infested with ants and cockroaches which we were killing nearly every night, the food wasn't up to much, well not my cup of tea anyway which was made worse by the attitude of the waitresses.
My son had 45euros that was part of his birthday money stolen from our room by the cleaners which i reported to be told the manager would be informed but nothing else was said and i got no reply from anyone.
One good point was there was a different show on every night and activities during the day in and around the pool but, although they weren't brilliant, we must commend the efforts of the two reps Nikki and Anis who worked tirelessly to make the holiday better for everyone and did make a huge effort always having time to stop and chat.
I wouldn't ever go back to this place but would definately go back to cyprus.

just arrived back after 1 week with my wife and grandaughter age 7 years, great sea view from appartment, but full of ants, maid only came once in the week, would only give 1 kek per room, so it was very hot when entering room in evening, resturant very small also bar very small, no air con in either, food ok nothink special, bar ran out of ice every night at about 9pm entertainment very poor, kids disco only half hour, then raffle price 5e then bingo, i thought bingo here is expensive but 10euro for 1 sheet of six, price only 50 euro, only good thing about holiday was swimming pool, i have been on 4 all inclusive first choose holidays and this was the worst,

just got back from that fab village (not)were to start acom was very basic as we read but didnt yhink it was that basic made do only been in bed 4 hours and got bit to death by ants all over bedding and we were on top floor, aircon was leeking on floor had to put 2 bath towells down to stop kids from slipping and hurting themselfs.
barstaff didnt talk looked like they did want to be there now we no why ,they wernt allowed to talk to us whats that about.
food was passable had better not worse, not a familly resort for the small kids, but if you just want to get drunk and let your teenages run amock its great, they were throwing bottles busting lilos and dumping them in the pool at night when the pool had been cleaned.there was 12 or us made the most of it and met some good friends there was a maid called alma she was great and cleaned our rooms(fab)and her daughter called santa she was fab and lovely, there was also richard he was the gardener, there all familly so friendly
we travel with firstchoice everytime and this was the first holiday that we were very unhappy with, for what we paid the amount of spending money we spent.
the reps were great

All of this all inclusive holiday was great, but best bit first - Entertainment, Entertainment, Entertainment.
The two entertainment reps Anis & Nickki were mega, they were such a good laugh and kept very busy orgainising water polo, quizzes, aerobics, darts and the evening enterainment bingo & cabaret (Oh Yeah!!). They really made a good holiday great.
The apartments were basic but very clean and well serviced. The complex had a good size pool for the number of rooms so there was no cavalry charge for the sunbeds. It is 10 mins walk to the clubbing square and 20 mins walk to the harbour with loads of shops and resturants and pubs along the way.
Weather was 90's to 101 !! Wow.
Give The Electra Village a try - Agia Agia!!

Good Points
Close to the sea, clean rooms, clean pool, within easy walk of the town.
Bad Points
Insufficient restaurant space to sit everyone at times, meaning having to wait for seating and when you had a seat the staff has to clean up from the last person using that table, dirty table cloths and floor, food sometimes cold, menu boring, food the same for both weeks of the stay.
No air conditioning in main lobby or restaurant area, asked the reason behind this and it was down to the hotel manager being to tight to spend the money to have air con on.
Drinks were plentiful but cocktails were put together in a “slipslop” way to say the least, bar staff would serve you as long as you had blonde hair and female.
Staff could do with lessons on how to smile and be friendly which would have helped. Entertainment was of poor quality.
General points
We stopped there for the last week in July and first week in August 08, the rooms were basic but clean, the swimming pool was clean and enjoyable for the kids. Having meals were spoilt by the constant wait to have breakfast and evening meal in the undersized restaurant area, you had to wait for seating and then have the table cleared before you could have any food, if you weren’t careful the staff would take your plate before you had finished your food in a rush to get you out so someone else could have your table. It was a travesty that there was no air conditioning while you had your breakfast or evening meals, this was purely down to the hotel management not willing to spend money on having the air con on, after spending all day in the sun it would have been nice to sit in comfort in an air con room, the Electra was the only hotel along the beach front of some 10 hotels to have no garden area so you could not even sit outside at night to have a drink unless you sat on the hotel steps or car park.
Sun beds were available as long as you got up at 4am to place your towel, if not you had no chance of having one, the cocktails and kids drinks were of a “slip/slop” fashion which meant that it was a bit of this and a bit of that to give you something in a plastic cup (at least you got a straw) that always tasted the same what ever the name. Entertainment was poor the hotel was occupied by all English people so for some reason we had a poor English speaking entertainer which made no sense at all. Kids club was only for kids up to the age of 8.

After reading just about every review on this site myself, my wife and our two children aged 12 and 9 headed off into the unknown to holiday at a resort that you either loved or hated.
I will keep this review short and sweet but be assured i speak from the heart and this is the thoughts of all my family.
Rooms - We found our appartment to be very clean with NO ANTS and our bedding was changed regular and the appartment was also cleaned on a regular basis. Overall GOOD.
Staff - We found the staff at the resort to on the whole quite friendly although we did have a problem with someone called Paul who did not want to serve any children and looked for paying customers first before all inclusive customers probably cause he was after a tip!!! After a quick chat with the holiday rep this was sorted although he did continue to serve people with a sneer on his face. All other members of staff we very obliging and did thier best Overall Good.
Pool - The pool is large and on the whole is clean although it would be nice if everyone took thier rubbish home with them and not let it be blown around the pool. Towards the end of our holiday the "Lifeguard" finally left his chair and decided to scrape the algae that was on the rocks in the pool meaning that little bits of green algae were floating around the pool not very nice for the kids again a quick chat with either Anis or Nikki and his error was soon pointed out to him. Overall Good
Food - Very Very Good always warm and very prompt once ordered from dinner time menu, choice was good although you get chips with everything - still we were on holiday.Overall Very Good.
Entertainment - FANTASTIC Anis and Nikki are an absloute credit to this hotel and over the whole of the two weeks they never stopped trying to ensure that your holiday was one to remember. Anis and Nikki always ensured that the kids came first whist maintaining that all adults were entertained as well which is quite a task. I read a report claiming that Anis was a perv RUBBISH. He is their to entertain you and if you dont like what he does go to Ayia Napa which is probably what attracted you there in the first place!!!!!!!. Anyway back to my holiday and Anis and Nikki my youngest cried when we left that was the impression left on my kids Overall SEE YOU NEXT YEAR YOU MADE OUR HOLIDAY - THANK YOU.
Overall we thoroghly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend you give it a try we booked quite late through First Choice and had a great deal although we are looking at booking ASAP for next year.Once again this is an honest review and i would again like to thank Anis and Nikki for making our holiday a truly memeorable occasion Thank You.

Me and my 3 girls stayed in Electra Village, being 18/19 it was our first girls holiday and we loved every second of it!!
Aiya Napa was the place to be, we made some pretty decent memories and was really pleased with the hotel. We were under the impression we would have screaming kids running round us all day (not the best thing when uve been up till 6am drinking on your balcony) but we were pleasantly suprised when we were surrounded by some gorgous lads.
Entertainment was really good, even tho we managed that on our own :P and the rooms were good for what we needed.
From Wotsit, Lozza, Branston & Pauline... WE LOVE U NAPA... WE'LL BE BACK!! xxxxx
Peace Out Geordies & Welshies :P :P :P

this is the 4th time staying here at Electra, and as always it either pleases some people or not,but we always enjoy it as the kids always love it here and we know they are safe,I have wrote other reviews on this site for this hotel also.
Firstly,Cyprus has always been a dear country, this even more so since the switch over to the euro,as an example, this year originally booked to go s/c,as on previous years it had been much cheaper to upgrade to all inclusive at the hotel rather than thru tour operator. However i emailed hotel before i went and for 2 adults and 2 children,(1 eating free)it worked out at almost £2000 to upgrade once there for 2 weeks!!!!
So i managed to upgrade with first choice before i went at a cost of £238 p.p,i felt it should have been a bit less for kids but still works out value for money when you think of the amount of drinks they will be having throughout the day.I heard one lad go to bar and ask for a shot of Jack Daniels cost 8 euros 50cents!!!! so I would definitely recommend that you book all inclusive,if you dont wish eat there you can just upgrade to have drinks all inclusive on arrival,i have a leaflet with the prices for this season for different upgrades once there so if anyone wants any further info, drop me an email!
STAFF very friendly, quite a few new faces this year, but cant fault Vassos(forrest gump)he's lovely(my boyfriend a bit jealous cos i have a bit of a soft spot for him hehehe) he and bar staff all work hard and long hours to keep everyone satisfied,so do give them a fair go.Andreas and his wife Maria in Mini Market are the most friendly helpful people you could meet, this year hours before we were to fly home my boyfriend got a tooth abscess,as it was sunday all chemists were shut.Asked Andreas if he knew any that were open and he promptly went home and came back with some antibiotics and something to stop the pressure in the flight causing pain,he had only the week before had exactly the same thing, and it was very thoughtful of him to go to that trouble for us.
FOOD was good as always, never much choice for the kids either chips and nuggets or chips and some kinda chopped up hamburger,so mine as always lived on chips for a fortnight hahaha, lunch menu is excellent, nobody ever suffers upset stomachs in the years we been there, food is hot and a good selection but does get reptitive if you there for 2 weeks.I did miss my fruit a lot, they do have fruit but it always seems to be watermelon which i hate lol.
HOTEL/ROOMS are always clean but rooms are a bit dated and could do with new beds, they are very hard and the kids that sleep on the sofa beds have very thin cushion/matressess on the sofa beds,i cant imagine an adult wanting to sleep on them.(now i have one query here, the rooms sleep 4 ppl, there were 4 of us yet first choice charged an occupancy supplement which was almost £500 which I am currently looking into)as the room was not under occupied has anyone else came across this??? All the other years that I have been i have never had this charge, yet it has always been same number of people.
Maid service was good sheets changed about 3 times per week, only gripe is that my other half likes to lie in a bit and one day he woke up to find the maid looking at him hahaha.
ANTS...yes its a hot country and you do get insects, but beware if you leave anything, even clothing socks etc on the floor by morning they will be filled with the pesky things, and it not just sweet things they go for,my son left bag of crisps on the table and next morning picked it up and it erupted like an ant volcano lol,but as other person said put your stuff in cupboards or fridge and you will be fine,i was told you can go to reception and ask for some ant spray to spray round your doors windows etc and you shouldnt get a problem.
POOL: is lovely and clean, plenty of room for everyone, although you do get some ppl that cant be bothered to put their rubbish in the bin, although the barstaff came round regular with bin bags to collect rubbish left out, glad they finally got new sunbeds about time!!! but you do have to get out there pretty early if you wanna stay round the pool, and we call the Germans lol.
Did get one problem the gangs of clubbing lads and women. It is guaranteed that at bout 5am ish you will be woken by screaming girls obviously being thrown into the pool by the lads etc.And on one night they must have sat there stupidly smashing bottles into the pool.
Next morning my son went diving in the pool and found lots of broken shards of glass, luckily we took this to the lifeguard, the pool was then promptly closed for cleaning. But afterwards more glass was found,it is stupidity of some drunk people who dont think what their actions could cause, and as there are lots of kids in this complex i think in the end they should think about making it purely accomodation for families,as they always seem to have problems with some groups of lads and having to throw them out etc.
ENTERTAINMENT:well you dont expect much from hotel entertainment quite cheesy, was provided by Nikki & Anis this year, they worked hard and were very friendly, although my partner had a spat with Anis cpl of days before we left as he was very arrogant,he had a joke one day by throwing nikki in the pool, and anis didnt take very kindly to this. Before we were leaving he asked for a photo of them both and Anis said you have problem with my friend,no photo for you sir forget it,also he could be a bit how would you say pervy lol. They did one game where ppl had to collect as many items of clothing as they could, obviously some women removed their bras etc,but when they went to collect them again he was asking them to prove that they werent wearing a bra before he would give it back to them, one woman got everything out in front of him, however one girl was adamant she was not showing and he made her stand there teasing her for a good few minutes before finally giving her the bra back.
The parrot show on a Sunday evening was prob one of the best ones to watch, although beware they guys come and stick the parrots on your shoulder at start and take photos, they cost 8 euros, and you dont even get it in a mount!! If you walk into the centre there is a large tobacconist gift shop that has loads of birds outside and they have 2 parrots also, charge 1 euro for a photo of you with the parrots, which is considerably cheaper, although obviously you probably take the pic yourself with your own camera.
CAR HIRE:I always hire a car while in Cyprus, however have now learned to book it before I come and collect from airport,on previous years we have booked through rep and has cost us around 180 quid for 3-4 days. This time booked online through cypriot company kyprexxo and cost £200 for fiesta for 10 days considerably cheaper than doing it via rep at hotel.i would recommend driving to anyone as you dont always wanna be sitting round the hotel.
WATER PARK:we chose to go on a sunday as it would be less busy, got straight in no queuing at gates and not many queues for rides, cost 30 euro per adult and 16 per child, was unsure if to go as my 8yr old hates going on anything but i did manage to get him on a cpl of rides so was worth it.
SWIM KIDS: Highly recommend,my eldest did this 4 years ago when we were there and decided to put the 8yr old in this time as he wont move from shallow end of pool, cost 36 euros for 5 private lessons well worth it,by the end he was standing in middle of pool and putting his face in the water, also managed to swim 5 metres by himself which was an achievement in itself.
Also I highly recommend that you do the scuba diving, offered in the pool,i paid for my 11 yr old to go and do a sea dive was 55 euros and he had a brill time fed the fish under the water etc and the company is excellent cant fault them at all.
i have so much i could say about cyprus and the hotel but ive waffled on long enough now if anyone wants any more info or pics then mail me and i will help as much as i can!

We stayed in the electra for two weeks all inclusive from 22 June until 6th July 2008.
Weather was superb in the high 30s low 40s everyday.
Hotel was clean but could of done with a bit of updating. Maid service did a good job of cleaning your room. We had a few ants in our room on a number of accasions but we found if you put anything edible or any drinks in your fridge this more often than not got them to dissapear some where else! we also had a cockroach in our bathroom one evening.
Staff were friendly enough but didn't smile very often.
Pool area was lovely and pool very safe for the children. There was a lifeguard on duty most days but he would rather go play tennis or gossip then watch the pool. He nattered my brother in law for a game of tennis and when he finally obliged the lifeguard got caught and got a telling off.
Entertainment was poor but Nikki and Annish did the best they could and worked really hard to try and please everyone.
Food was georgous i put half a stone on to prove it!!! Could not fault this in any way. Lovely.
Cost me over £100 to take 4 of us into the waterpark (without food or drinks) but it was good. Go on a Wednesday or Sunday as this is change over day and you don't have to queue for slides. food and drinks inside were not bad prices at all and there was a fish and chip shop.
Beach was ok outside hotel but very stoney if you walk to your right for 10 mins you come to sunny bay which is a lot better beach a further 10 minutes walk takes you to Nissi beach very nice but definately over rated. Beaches in Majorca are a lot better.
Cyprus suffers with high humidity. I have a natural curl to my hair and every evening I would shower and straighten it, within 10 minutes of going outside my hair would go curly/frizzy because of the humidity. Towels left on your balcony would sometimes still feel damp in the morning.
Over all - The seven of us who went 4 adults 3 kids certainly enjoyed it and we would consider going back in the future.

This place was by far the best holiday we have had. I travelled with my wife and our 6 year old duaghter. The trouble on writing this review is where to begin but I will start with the only negative side to our trip: The bar staff (Most not cypriot or english) seem to have a scam going on whereby they will give you an old Turkish coin that is similar in appearance to a €2 coin. This was quite embarrassing when we then went to give the coins as we thought them as part of a tip....!!!!! Needless to say a quick visit to the reception saw the bar staff get a public tearing off and return of our money and free drinks.. ;-)
While I am on the subject of the bar, make sure you go all inclusive, a spirit+mixer and a beer will set you back the best part of €10... not as cheap as when it was CYP.
Okay only available moaning over.... the resort is in a family oriented low rise, pool centred style roughly 10-15 minutes walk from the centre (The Square) one way and the same the other way to Nissi Bay.
While we were there we had the pleasure of what must have been the best double act in holiday entertainment terms via the delights of ANIS and NICKI who worked tirelessly for what seemed 24 hours a day 7 days a week....! Truly amazing, can't spoil anything by providing further comments but its worth going to see them alone..
This was also the first location we have been where we have eaten in both the resort and out (Usually self catering but the feedback was the food was good so we tried it). On site the food was served buffet style (Help yourself, eat as much as you like) for breakfast and dinner and there were lots of options, the food was well presented, hot and replenished quickly. Lunch was anything you like from the bar menu.
The resort is spoilt in terms of local restaurants to visit, up to the main road and turn left or right will see you in the midst of loads of restuarants etc. We tried those where we thought we might get local food and all I can say is go for it, we never had a bad meal, the service was superb and the prices were very good. Wine prices were amazing but again beers and spirits were quite pricey, including the local stuff...!!
Taxi's seem to charge €7 for pretty much anywhere you want to go in Ayia Napa. Down at the centre you have the Square which is full of clubs and bars, it doesn't seem to get busy until quite late though so you can still go and visit if you like me are refusing to get old and still want to see a bit of the scene without getting ear ache from the missus for wanting to be home too late.
Ayia Napa itself is a harbour resort and it is the harbour where you will find the best selection of eating places, full fish and meat meze's for reasonable amounts of money, down there you can also get to see Greek singing and dancing while eating which is pretty cool.
Okay back to the resort for the last part.... Kids club..... This was brilliant, the reps were very well organised and took great interest in the children, they felt very safe. This resort also has swim kids... its an opportunity to pay for professional swimming lessons for your kids... we did €36 for the week (5 sessions) and no word of a lie our non swimming and otherwise not to confident in water daughter was swimming without armbands by the 4th session... !!!!!!!!!!! Amazing.
Well, probably more like rambling now than reviewing (should probably be reminiscing) so any questions drop a reply here and I'll see if I can answer them.... I haven't myself read many negative things about this place but if you find them they are truly only an exception, you'll have a great time I am sure.....

I spent a week in the Electra Village with three other mates in October 2007, it was getting towards the end of the clubbing season so wasn't mad busy in the centre but trust me it was busy enough!
Ayia Napa, the town itself, is perfect for anyone! Families, teens, or people of a more mature age. As we were leaving, people in their 70's were arriving for a nice getaway there, also arriving were more teens and families. At this time of year there is a good mixture of them all.
We were going out to all the closing nights of clubs, where drinks and entrance fees are free everywhere! We didn't have to pay to get in once. The drinks are relatively cheap, I came home with more money than expected and was able to exchange back into pounds - I got over £150 back, which was really good.
During the day there is the town to go shopping in, there is a wide selection of shops right in the centre of Ayia Napa which we were able to get access to very easily as the Electra Holiday Village is smack dab in the middle of the sandy beach and the town. If you want a peaceful nights sleep then the Electra is good for you, if you want to go out at night, get tipsy, and be able to walk back to your hotel then the Electra is also good for you!
In the day we went on lazy day cruise, which kinda bored us a bit, the majority of the people on board were families and more mature adults. But its still worth the money I suppose as you get to swim in the sea, sunbath on deck, receive a fully cooked lunch and take a tour around the ghost town of Famagusta. We also went to the water park, which wasn't as busy as you would have hoped it to be, as with more people more rides are open, but I think this was mainly due to the time of year that their custom wasn't fab. The rides we did go on however were brilliant.
As for the Electra Holiday Village, the entertainment at nights is primarily for families, i.e. Mr Magic Show, Bingo, Pub Quiz, Karaoke, etc... But younger groups shouldn't worry as you'll be spending most of your time out in the town at nights. The day time entertainment was good for all, with competitions by the pool and watersports, etc... The hotel is about a 2 minute stroll away from the long sandy beach where you will find more people and a lot more watersports, like parasending, banana boats and water skiing, personally I loved parasending. Its great to look out over the whole town of Ayia Napa.
About 15 minutes further down the beach from that is the main stip of beach, Nissi Bay. Again, there are tonnes of watersports with a wider range of people and beach bars.
The rooms are very satisfying, although the room service didn't arrive on a couple of days, this was the only disappointing thing about the hotel. There is a cooker, toaster, kettle, cupboards, the whole lot. We stayed in one room with four beds, the beds are comfortable and very clean. The balcony could have been cleaner, but with the great view of the pool and the beach/sea we had, we couldn't moan. There was a table and three chairs on the balcony all in ok condition.
The entertainment staff, the bar and restaurant staff are all helpful; the manageress is slightly moody, but you learn to ignore her. There are internet connections available and a tv and games console, a gym, an indoor pool and daily snacks available. The hotel breakfast was very good, the lunches were fine too, we never tried dinner there but I imagine that would be good too.
I would recommend the Electra Holiday Village to anyone of any age, Ayia Napa is a very good place to stay and I would definitely go back there.
