Americana Hotel

I am typing this as I sit in my room at the Americana, connected to their wifi with the airconditioning blasting away. This hotel has been renovated to a brilliant standard with a seating area outside at the front of the hotel with a nice bar. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and freshly painted. There are large balconys and it's a short walk to the beach and outdoor cinema. The centre of town is an easy stroll away. We booked the hotel on a friend's recommendation who stayed there last year as a Thomson guest. The hotel is no longer connected to Thomson. I must say this is their loss. We wanted to be near the port and the town. This hotel is within 10 minutes walk of both. Although the hotel is only listed as a 2 star property, the owner, Chris, has done a complete renovation over the winter and it should be at least a 3 star. we stayed at the americana in may and was really pleased with the hotel.yes the rooms are a little tired but very spacious,we had a end room with a double balcony,chris the hotel owner is a very good host plus her lovely little dog lizzie who likes to go walk about to the restaurants with you. the areas around kos are beautiful well worth a visit ...chris/laurie warner hadleigh suffolk

Stayed 15-22nd september. Hotel very clean but very basic even for Greece.Everything is tired and old, abd it needs a complete refurbishment. Thomsons have dropped this hotel from the end of this season and I can see why. There are no facilities apart fro a TV in the Bar area. No Air Con, fridges or Televisions in rooms. no pool or even sun bathing or relaxing area. Stayed for 2 nights from 8th Sep - found the hotel to be very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious with nice balcony area. Drinks at the hotel bar were very reasonable. Would totally recommend staying here. Only negative i can give is that there didnt seem to be any air con but to be fair we never asked if there was any. Also Shower very small but done the job which is all you need.

I stayed here for a week as i was after a cheap deal and didn't mind that there was no pool. The owner chris was really friendly and helpful, we loved her little dog! She seemed to work 24 hours a day! The rooms were basic but clean, we werent to keen on the 2 single beds that you had to push together to make a double. fantastic hotel, the new owner chris coudnt be more welcoming! lovely breakfasts ( greek yog and honey) mmmmmmm great location, near bbeach and kos town. didnt want to leave.

a small friendly hotel. We were made very welcome and made lots of new friends. A good place to stay if you want to explore the island.

The Americana Was an excerlent place to stay! However Tony (the owner) left the Hotel at the end of the 2004 Season and went out with a bag with a post season party! If you stayed before 2004 and want to go back, don't expect the same people to be there.....
