The Good The Bad and The Ugly!
5 / 10
Jul 2011, Steve & Anne Stafford

This hotel is so lovely in so many ways but has it must be said it does have some downsides and is most definately not a 4 star but a 3:(
My wife and I are mid 50's and have just come back from a 2 week stay 10th July 11 at the Sa Coma Platja. The following heads are market out of 10 with a summary at the end.
Food: 6/10 (repetative but adequate)
Cleanliness: 7/10 (Sundays & Thursdays (No Maid Service: No Clean Sheets / Towels)
Amenities: 5/10 (No Gym,Suanna or Jacuzzi as expected from 4 star)
Entertainment: 1/10 (No Adult Disco or Adult Music or shows Kids Shows Only)
Staff Friendliness 9/10 ( One matilda type waitress who never smiled but the rest of the staff were great)
Locality: 10/10 (Fantastic Right by beach)
Suitability for Couples with Children: 9/10 (Lively and Noisy)
Suitability for Couples without Children: 1/10 (No Adult Entertainment and far too many noisy out of control children from morning till night) :(
As you can see due to the fact my wife and I are a mature couple with grown up children this hotel was completely the wrong choice in that respect. If you like lots of small children running around from morning till night go to this Hotel. If you want peace and quite then don't bother.
The staff here are worked very hard by the management and all the staff without exception do a great job to cater for all their guests needs but it must be said the Hotel was bursting at the seems when we left and as a result we were very happy to head for the airport after spending 2 weeks at this very busy hotel.
I hope this review helps you make an informed choice on weather or not this is the place for you. Basically if you have small children and you want a noisy child environment go here and you will have a great holiday if you want a romantric lovely place for couples go elsewhere.
One final point we booked via teletext holidays with a company called broadway travel on a last minute deal booking in flight meals. When confirmation of the holiday came via email no mention of inflight meals so contacted Broadway who confirmed in flight meals had been booked. Upon arrival at the Thompson check in we discovered no in flight meals had been booked! Beware of Broadway Travel Ltd.

Hotel was nice, clean and airconditioned throughout, rooms were cleaned 5 days out of 7 with fresh towels and bedding. Went S/C as enjoy eating out, so took travel kettle on ealier reviewers advice and bought fresh baguettes but wouldn't dream of actually cooking anything! The pool was also cleaned daily. the sunbeds did have towels over them - even though not allowed - but still never had a problem finding 2/4 together when we wanted to stay at the pool. The beach is really nice so spent most days there - 2 sun loungers and an umbrella did cost 13.5 euros per day though, but was definitely worth having the shade of an umbrella. All entertainment was German, but we don't bother with that anyway so wasn't an issue.
Walked into S'illot most nights and ate there, it's nicer because the bars are on the seafront rather than on the main road and its not all English food - saying that we did have a roast dinner in the Irish pub (Kenners/McKenners) which was excellent. Ended our evenings in Flic Flac, a German bar, where we had wonderful cocktails.
If I went back to Sa Coma I would stay here again if the Blau Mediterraneo wasn't available because that looked fantastic and had an equally good sea view.

Hotel was ok, i have stayed in worse and i have stayed in better.
Its rated as a 4 **** But it is not a good 3***.
The good points are Views where really nice. All rooms have a pool and sea view.
The down side is.There is a Bar across from the hotel which is called the Britania Bar.
Unfortunately your bedroom backs onto this and if you don't like your late nights and party,
Then don't stay here.
The hotel is 85% german aswell ...The hotel entertainment is mainly in german language,as the entertainment team speak very little english.
Don't get me wrong the holiday was great the kids loved it.
I go on holiday to chill have a nice time. German, white ,black ,yellow, i am not bothered everybody is there for the same thing ..A holiday.
If you travel with travel republic ..Get a private taxi ..Its worth it..Even though its a little more expensive. You may have to wait for a couple of flights if you are on a shuttle. As the company won't leave till the coach is full .So could have a bit of a holiday in the airport..Which is not good with children or older people.
Also which i nearly forgot. If you go SELF CATERING take a travel kettle, pans microwave, toaster, infact take your camping equipment with you HAHA they say its self catering and don't caterer for you ..They will try to get you to go ALL INCLUSIVE. tHEY WILL TRY TO CHARGE FOR s/c equiptment.
SOME REALL Y NICE ENGLISH FAMILIES THERE.BUT I HAD TO PUT A UNION JACK TOWEL OUT TO ATRACT THE OTHER ENGLISH FAMILIES.
Good side.lots of nice places to eat out and simular prices to u.k
Weather was great.

we have stayed at sa coma platja six times, each time made fantastic friends. The first holiday was in 2002, our girls enjoyed themselves so much we just kept going back. The staff are really lovely here and always welcomed us back. Bart was a dutch entertainer whom really kept all the children entertained he was like the pied piper, they followed him everywhere. Yes can be a little noisy at night but all in all, just relax and join in the fun. Very safe area. probably best for families and couples. Not really a singles resot.

Me and my husband stayed at this...

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon 2 years ago and got it as a last minute deal. The hotel was gorgeous and right on the beach next to a supermarket. The room was really big with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen/diner. There was also a balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the beach.
There is a large pool but you are a stone’s throw from the beach so we spent most of the time there. There is a restaurant at the hotel but also lots of restaurants all round the resort so your never short of somewhere to eat, we tended to go to the fish restaurants rather than the British places.
The resort itself is very British, so if you like that kind of thing its great but can get a bit boring. There is a pub called the Britannia which is right across from the hotel and is open till about 3am so can get quite rowdy when you’re trying to sleep!
There was a receptionist called Carlos who worked at the hotel at night whilst we were there, I don’t know if he still works there but he was really helpful and we really liked him and missed him when we came home!
We went on 2 trips whilst we were there and both were great. The first was to the waterpark in Magaluf and the second was to the "Pirates" show also in Magaluf. I would recommend both of these trips to anybody.
There is also a bus which goes to the safari park throughout the day which I would also recommend, the baboons are hilarious!
Other than that there isn’t a great deal else to do, as for going out. I’d say the resort is more for families and kids but it is still a gorgeous place and a nice, relaxing holiday.

This is a basic sleep and go out...
5 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr B Wilson

This is a basic sleep and go out hotel, lower end of the scale but you can expect much it was cheap. At the end of the day it’s a place to sleep, cooking facilities were very basic a 2 hob ring and that’s about it, overcome and adapt I say and we did.
Sa Coma I a quietish place but lovely and the beach is fantastic, in general I would go back but it’s a little too relaxed for us.
Pub wise the Britannia and Kings head are the main one, Delaney’s is a good Irish pub but a little too far to walk, food is overpriced and small, the Royal Oak make everyone else’s meals look small, but saying that the chip' are awful, over cooked most of the time but plenty of them.
Entertainment was good most of the time in all 3 places ,except the Britannia the must have the worst Elvis and biggest in the world, he is that bad its funny, you don’t know whether to clap or laugh. Tina Turner and the Neil Diamond tribute were fantastic.
Tina was very attractive and sexy, one for the fellers, Neil Diamond, sounded just like the real one, he had a great sense of humour, made everyone feel really special, and had a wicked sense of humour.
The king’s head had the biggest shows ,the Beatle's were brill, Robbie Williams was really good, and Delaney’s had a superb Elvis on and also JP a madness tribute, excellent.
We would go back, but there’s lots of places we have not seen yet.
If you go to Sa Coma go to Royal Oak, Atlantic Bar to eat, very good, and Nou Moon Chinese Restaurant excellent. Get your water for the week or fortnight from Lidls really worth the taxi fair back to your hotel etc.
Enjoy, hope this is of some help..

Our family spent our 3rd year at the...
10 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs R Galashan

Our family spent our 3rd year at the Sa Coma Platja in 2005. The holidays we have had here have been the best ever.
We found the Cosmos reps helpful whenever we needed them. I have been reading some of the comments made by other holiday makers and I find some of them hard to believe.
The Dutch reps Bart and Lyn were brilliant. My eldest daughter was persuaded by Lyn to be part of their reps 'Grease' night and perform the part of a Pink Lady. She took some persuading by Lyn, but in the end she did it and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Lyn went out of her way to help us. My daughter wanted to visit a shop in Cala Millor and Lyn came with us to show us where it was. How many other reps do you know who would do that during their few hours off they get?
Our favourite eating place was the Fox and Hounds which is opposite the Caprabo supermarket. The owner Miguel is a lovely person who has made us welcome year after year.
We are returning to Sa Coma in 2007 although not to the Sa Coma Platja as the Germans are now in there. We are staying in one of the private apartments next door and will be visiting Miguel again for our tea most nights.
Sa Coma is a recommended holiday destination in our household and we are planning to return in 2008.

It was the best holiday I have ever...
10 / 10
Jul 2007, Miss SL Langham

It was the best holiday I have ever been on, it was so enjoyable and I felt so welcome. It is right on the beach and the people were so friendly. There was a great restaurant to eat out at called JJ's and that made the experience very tasty!
The food at the hotel was lovely. The kid’s entertainers were ok, Bart was brilliant with the kids but the other one was moody and grumpy! We were really looking forward to coming back to the hotel until we found out that it was being brought by a German company and we were gutted!
Overall I would say it was a life changing experience and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

This is one of the most run down...
5 / 10
Mar 2006, picklepuppy

This is one of the most run down hotels I have ever stayed in. I normally stay in 4-5* accommodation, and only booked this because it was so cheap and now I know why!!.
The hotel itself wasn't that bad if they had bothered to spend some money on it and refurbish it. When we walked into our room it smelt damp and the lights on the wall of the bedroom were both missing lamp shades. There was what was supposed to be a wall mounted coat rail on the bed and the wall where it should have been had bare nails sticking out of it, which correct me if I'm wrong should have been fixed before our arrival.
The railings on our balcony were really loose so you couldn't lean on them if you wanted to try and get a better look at our 'sea view' which was really a view of another block of apartments.
The actual resort of Sa Coma was not to my taste but I know a lot of people who would love it. I don't travel to a foreign country to eat a burger king. There was a lack of any decent restaurants apart from the Oasis Restaurant, which is some of the nicest food I have ever eaten. The beach was lovely and so was the walk to castle, which I recommend everyone does.
The rep at the hotel was useless, she couldn't offer any guidance about what was cultural to see in the area and messed up our San Amor booking meaning we had a to book through another operator which took time and effort. We were lucky and hired a car so we could see the island which is just as well as the cost of the excursions were beyond a joke. They were charging 17 euros per person to go to the market at Inca (which didn't give you enough time to see the whole market), but a whole tank of fuel only cost us 40 euros and we saw the whole island!!
Overall we had a fantastic holiday but it was down to what we did and saw not the hotel or staff or the area.

Jan 2006, Mr C Boardman

This was a brill holiday and we would go again. The views from the apartment where stunning. The food was great everywhere we ate apart from 'the red lion'. The music bar was great as they had 2 for 1 drinks.
The only downside was the cosmos reps they where no help at all. Bart and Lyn where great . The beach was fantastic and the banana boat was cool. I would most definitely go back again as long as it stayed a British hotel. Xxx
Both my daughters Morrisa and Joanne aged 15 and 18 said that this was the best holiday that they had been on. xxx

Well what can I say the hotel was...
5 / 10
Oct 2005, Mr D Wilson

Well what can I say the hotel was okay for what you need, but be aware that you don’t get a oven and not even a toaster, just 2 hob rings and a microwave, so not good for a self catering holiday!! The resort was okay but was too much of the same. British and more British food. On eating out The fox and hounds is the best in the area with good deals and really friendly staff. Beware of the Chinese selling what looks to be a cheap menu but then charging you 3 euros a coke, so that is where the catch is.
On the pub front the hotel bar is cheap and well set-up with loads of seats and friendly staff, if only they could smile would be nice though. On other pubs around the resort, they all charge about the same but carling etc are expensive so stick to the local beer. The worst Place is Sa Coma is the Britannia Pub which is opposite the hotel, the karaoke bloke loves himself and makes everyone else unwelcome with bad jokes and going to far on occasions.
The Britannia is an expensive pubs which takes advantage when people are having a good time by giving the wrong change and taking money for tips with out even asking, so in my opinion this is a place to avoid at all costs unless you don’t mind being left short at the end of the night. I wouldn’t go back to Sa Coma again but for families it is okay. Location is great and the beach is amazing.

Me and my boyfriend have just come...
10 / 10
Oct 2005, Miss H Cadd

Me and my boyfriend have just come back from a week in Sa Coma 3 days ago. we were a bit nervous to begin with as the holiday was so cheap, we had a fantastic time. the coach transfer was quick its just a shame the rep we had was a bit snotty...it wasn’t Grace she was fantastic! top marks! the views from our apartment were fantastic, looking over the beach, pool and burger king!
The staff were friendly and helpful. the only problem we had was when we had to ask for more linen after too many cocktails at the Britannia bar(doesn’t do your stomach any good!)And the maid gave us clean linen but didn’t collect the dirty stuff till 2 days later!
The Britannia bar and the kings head are great for entertainment but I wouldn’t advise eating there. the best places we ate were the happy bar and the royal oak, the meals were huge! the only thing is like all the reviews have said everything comes with chips! I was desperate for a proper roast when i got home.
All in all its a lovely holiday, I don’t agree with everyone saying Bart was better than Lynn, he liked the sound of his own voice too much! Lynn was brilliant with the kids and the adults and at just 19!!!!
I would have definitely gone back but sadly its being taken over by Germans and becoming an all inclusive.
Money well spent!
