Nido del Aguila Apartments reviews

Lovely Holiday
8 / 10
Mar 2012, Jonah & Me!!

Just home from a really pleasant stay in Gran Canaria. The Nido Aguila Apartments were comfortable, cleaned every other day & had all that was needed for a self catered fortnight. The reception staff went out of their way to be helpful, as were all the staff. The position of the apartments meant that though we enjoyed a quiet holiday & we were able to have many lovely walks, we could easily get to bars & restuarants when we wished. We will be returning next year!!

Rooms are nice and clean, not much hot water, had to boil a few kettles to have a wash, food is average not brill, staff ain't very smiley or helpful , not enough sunbeds round the pool, pool was freezing !!! , all inclusive drinks are the cheap [xxxx], and only on til 10.30 , no entertainment went Europa for that so spent more money, restaurant is like a big garden shed and tables close together , but we just got on with it, the complex could do with a bit of a re vamp , and the menu a bit more thought into it..

A nice holiday in Nido del Aguila (Puerto Rico)
8 / 10
Dec 2011, Nightfall

Me and my husband just returned from a 2-week holiday from Puerto Rico, and we have nothing but good to say about Nido de Aguila. Our room was nice and clean and the area was peaceful (exactly what we wanted it to be), and there was a shopping center (Europa) with restaurants and a decent grocery store nearby. We were 100% self-catering so I can't say much about the food or the bar, but the most important thing, the apartment itself, pleased us a lot. And the price was utmost moderate as well.
I'd recommend Nido de Aguila anytime, BUT I'd also recommend self-catering because I've heard that the food isn't that great. Then again I wouldn't take all inclusive anyway myself, so...

Nothing to do

Oct 2011, Room good shame about the rest

Just got back this week weather was great holiday not so great
Accommodation was clean and cleaners in every other day meals however not good
Dining area cramped flies every where food cold
Same breakfast every day in the second week we bought our own butter from supermarket and took toast only it tasted so good. lunch was hot dogs or burgers chips ,ice cream
No other choices but ice cream was good but could only have it at lunch or dinner no other time
Dinner was themed to a country eg Spanish each day so ate out on a few days as did not like the look of some of the meals
The drinks were ok you could have 2 at a time but as no where but a small poolside area to drink unless you took them back to your room and then you can't be bothered to go and get more
NO ENTERTAINMENT
Nothing to do at night unless you go to the Europa centre across the road which is ok but you have to walk the gauntlet of venders pestering you to eat or drink in there establishment
We found a place called maryds which had live music ever night ( the rock guitarist is fantastic)and quizzes for drinks and was a good price for drinks and the staff were great
Going back to your apartment at night is very scary as you come through a gate if you have been out drinking at venues across the road this area has a lot of bushes and plants which are very pretty in daylight but at night the paths move with hundreds of cockroaches one of the nights
My wife and I had to walk to another gate as to scared as so many everywhere Bought spray to keep them out of room so only had unwanted visitors a few time
Would not be back
Needs better food proper area to drink and talk to people
Should be able to eat at any time for snacks and ice cream not only at meal times
Would I return to Hotel if

Very Poor

Read all the reviews before we went and thought it must just be that some people are overly fussy but unfortunately they were right. It would have been Ok if we were self catering as the room was fine. But we were all inclusive and the food was very very poor. some of it was definately reheated from the day before. We were expected to clear our own tables and scrape leftovers into a bin. Staff were at best miserable and at worst down right rude. The catering manager seemed aware that things were not good as she asked me what she could do to improve things. I ended up spending much more money than expected as we ate out most of the time.
Not a good place to go if you are not fit as it's a long walk down very steep roads to the beach but only cost 3 euros for a cab.
An Ok place to go for a self catering holiday but a total waste of money going all inclusive.

Do not go here!!!

Aug 2011, jo

Just returned yesterday and it was the worst holiday ever! Staff in the bar are rude and in reception don't seeem to have a clue of what they are supposed to do. Food is awful and we had to eat out a few times to compensate. Coakroaches running by the pool in broad day light and also in rooms. Left my suitcases in the garden just in case I brought some back with me. Same food in the morning and even if you like fool english after a few days you had enough. At lunch if you don't like burgers and hot dogs you had it because that's all there is. Food is displayed at least 1/2h before they open and it is not covered up so the flies are everywhere. I love salad but not if it comes with a fresh serving of flies! Children can only have ice cream at meal times and not during the day and all drinks are watered down beyond recognition. The dining room resembles a school dining room from the 70's and is dirty. Tables are so close togheter that you cannot move. There are not enough sunbeds and umbrelas around the pools so people leave their towels on them 24/7. I will definetly not recommend anyone to holiday here.

This is my third time here, and it is excellent value for money. This time I booked it direct with the Hotel, not sure if there was any real saving though. It's not the ritz so anyone expecting so will be dissapointed, but it's clean, friendly and there's plenty food and drink. I was there for Scuba diving at PR Diving, so didn't spend so much time around the pool and bar and missed lunch most days.

My partner and I have recently come back from the Nido, and after reading some awful reviews beforehand we were a bit apprehensive of what we were letting ourselves in for.
The appartment was clean and the maid came in every other day to change the towels and tidy around, our bed sheets were changed once a week. The staff we came across were friendly and we didn't have any problems with them. We did have a house guest cockroach on the first night but he soon hit the dust!
The food was good value for the price we paid, breakfast consisted of a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, a full English breakfast, rolls, pastries and toast, with at least 3 choices of fruit juices, and if you were a big eater you are able to have seconds which some people did.
Lunch was the usual hotdogs & burgers but there was always a salad on hand, fresh fruit & Icecream.
Evening meals had 2 main meat dishes along with vegetables or rice, and again fresh fruit, and a sweet and at least six different flavoured icecream.
The bar did stop serving at 10.30 but we were able to get a few drinks in beforehand as did everyone else so it wasn't an issue for us.
Our only let down was that the appartment was too far out from the shopping centre & beach in Puerto Rico so we often got a taxi which cost an additional £35.00 or more as there was not much to do in the Europa Centre unless you wanted to drink & eat. Also although our appartment had a balcony it was in the shade all of the time so no chance to sit and top up your tan and it was quite chilly.
We have been to Puerto Rico at least seven times and have agreed if we were to go back we will stay somewhere closer to the heart of Puerto Rico.

Just back last night from the 'Nido' and this was the first time I'd stayed there, so hopefully this review will help someone. Holiday was booked in September through a tour operator and then read the reviews. Oh dear, I thought, is this a bargain or a flop waiting to happen. Upon arrival the receptionist was pleasant and quick in checking us in. We located the apartment and were surprised at the space in the seating area. Our apartment was located on the right hand side as you go up the steps after reception. I think the two sides are listed as A and B block, and go odd and even numbers. Ours was an even number (not ground floor) in A block and faced the pool. This meant we had had the sun all day. A little lucky perhaps. We didn't use the pool bar or eat there so can't comment on standard, variation or price etc. Prices are listed on the central eating area doors and windows so you have the opportunity to both look at the price and quality before you purchase. Accomadation was basic i.e. fridge, two ring hob, kettle, toaster, set of crookery / eating utensils, cooking untensils and pots. Hand towels and shower towels provided (posssibly a little worn) and 1 bedroom with two beds. So thats the level of items provided. The rooms were cleaned daily and the same with the towels. The cleaning staff seemed fine although we didn't have a lot of interaction with them. There was a little shop on site although you also have the main shopping centre close by, were there is a good choice of bars, shops, restaurants, hypermarket etc.
The 'Nido' is at the top of a hill and central, so it's a fifteen walk down some steep hills to either to Puerto Rico beach / centre or to the Amadores beach / centre. A taxi was usually around €4 to go to either location. If you are mobile this is not an issue but, the steps and hills did seem to catch a few people out. Young families and the less mobile seemed to struggle a little. We were there for the week and, whilst we have stayed in better, we felt that what we paid more than satisfied our expectation. I did hear a few comments whilst there during the week but it didn't happen to, or we were effected by, any of the things being said. All in all, it was good base level accomadation at a low cost. Those working on a low budget and not bothered about the extras hopefully won't be disappointed.

the accomidation was ok but could do with up dating the pool was clean and tidy, staff at the desk were helpfull but the bar staff and cantine staff were rude.
the food was not the best as the breakfest was the same every morning and the evening meal was just snacks, the fizzy drinks mechine only worked 1 night out of 7 and it was flat.
no local bus service taxi needed to get everywere so expect to pay up to 5 euro to get to the beach or down to the main shoping center.

I arrived back from here yeterday and went with some trepidation due to reading too many reviews. Staff were friendly, never saw any evidence of re-using plastic cups etc., All in all a budget holiday and I got what I paid for. I enjoy walking so the hills I saw as a challenge but if you don't like walking this isn't the place for you.
