" What great accommodation! "

Just got back from the Cordial Green Golf Bungalows - and we are very impressed! Originally booked in to El Palmeral but they chose to decorate so we were put in here! Brilliant decision, lovely modern looking bungalows, great location - right next to the pool. Very clean - cleaners come nearly every day, compact but in a cute way, great bar staff - looked after us very well. Advise to use faro 2 shopping centre for food supplies as shop is expensive on the essentials. Nearly everyone was very friendly that works there (older woman in shop wasnt very sociable!!) Definetely coming back next year.

Advice: 2nd time back and its good to know where to go

Activities: El numblo at faro 2 - lovely meal!

" I am lucky enough to have 3/4... "

I am lucky enough to have 3/4 holidays a year. THIS place however has to be the worst i have had the pleasure of staying at!
Arrived at 11pm to be told the bar was shut and we couldnt get a drink unless we went into town by taxi, with a kid in tow this wasn't appropriate hence the time. Hubby bought a lukewarm bottle of water from the receptionist after being told by a neighbour this was possible. Our room was awful, our front door was facing a wall and we had a tree in the front garden that literally took over the garden cutting out all light and allowing every kind of wildlife in through the window, on the 1st night i woke to find i was sharing a bed with cockroaches, ants, lizards etc... nice!... staff told us they would move us within 2 days once the complex became more empty, hubby went to reception 2 days later to be told to come back in 2 days when the manager was in, after threatening to sue they then threw a key at him and gave us another room. please note that the spanish take there school holidays same time as the english and they take up 90% of the resort ( not a problem it is afterall their country..and except they hate the brits)
Staff in the bar were extremely rude although i was fortunate enough to have gone self catering and didnt have to face them everyday. on site supermarket was overpriced, so its best to take the 5 minute walk to faro2 to get ur shopping. baby pool was filthy and we didnt once see it being maintained.... the hightlight of the holiday tho has to be having a drink and playing cards, sitting on the veranda with some friends we met there, to be told by security at 11.15pm to go to bed as we was disturbing the spanish who were vacating there! they then proceded to take the snooker cue of the kids because of the noise, as you can imagine it didnt go down to well.
sooooo, if u wanna holiday where u like to be in bed by 9, this is the holiday for you!

" Booked our package through Travel... "

Booked our package through Travel Republic after finding prices were far more favourable than Thompson’s.

Apartments are compact for three people but adequate. No air conditioning but the main rooms had ceiling fans. They are obviously well used but quite clean with maid service five times each week and it would have been nice to have an electric kettle and a microwave. Despite other reviews we were not plagued by cockroaches inside!

No real problems with sun beds as there generally seemed to be enough - but some did leave them covered with towels all the time. The on site shop is expensive as you would imagine but Faro 2 is only a short walk away for a better supermarket.

Both pools were cleaned to acceptable standards every day except Sundays but some of the pool terraces were no swept for a few days. Reception staff as reported elsewhere seemed ‘curt’ but once a rapport was established we found the staff to be nothing but helpful.

Lots to do on the island including Palmitos Park & Sioux City to name the best we found – if you don’t hire a car then one of the coach tours around can be thoroughly recommended. All in all a very nice holiday that all went well.

" We booked as one group, two families... "

We booked as one group, two families in seperate apartments (a child in each), only to find when we arrived we had been allocated apartments at either end of the complex from each other. As the complex is spread over quite a long area, we were not too pleased, as we really couldn't have been placed any further apart.
However, after two days of pointing out to the rep, the hotel staff and the manager that this was making our lives very difficult as we were self catering and planning to share the cost of food etc, we were moved to apartments next door to one another.

The complex was great, the apartments, although small, were perfect for us, and clean. We had shower trouble on more than one occasion, but each time the plumber was there within minutes to resolve the problem.

The pools are a great size, and we had no trouble finding sun loungers each day. There is shade if you want it under trees and some strange looking shelter-type things, but the rest of the pool area is in the sun all day. (I thought I would comment on this as I once went on holiday to find the pool and loungers were in the shade all day!)

If you are happy to be out and about every night and only return to the aprtment to sleep, then do so, but if you want to stay in the hotel bar, then expect the staff to be having a great laugh and joke with the Germans, but offer the English a few nods and grunts.

I would like to offer a word of warning to anyone booked to stay at the Green Golf Apartments - check your change!!! We didn't notice we were being short changed until the second week of our holiday, and after we had noticed we were short changed EVERY time we went into the shop. Even our 11 year old which I thought was disgusting. I pointed this out to the manager who said she would deal with it, then 2 hours later my brother went in and was short changed again, so it would seem it is acceptable to the management and staff. This goes for at the bar too as they were doing the same every time I bought ice cream.
It was even the topic of conversation between annoyed families around the pool!

All in all, a lovely resort but let down massively by the service they offer there.

" I stayed at Green Golf with my... "

I stayed at Green Golf with my boyfriend in late June, early July. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the lack of air conditioning in our bungalow made for restless nights and groggy mornings.

The on-site supermarket was grossly overpriced, while the food in the restaurant was mostly inedible and expensive and the staff at the resort were not that friendly.

The bar closed too early (10pm), the entertainment was dreadful and the gate card system was constantly on the blink.

All that said, the pool was gorgeous and the other visitors were nice. It's perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the madness. But if you want madness, Playa Del Ingles is only a taxi drive away. There was no drunken louts or misbehaving in Maspalomas. Very romantic for couples and seems ideals for families with children.

I highly recommend renting a car, with air conditioning, and driving up into the centre of the island. Amazing views and everything is cheaper too. (Have a phrase book at the ready though.)

Nice place to stay if you get your entertainment fix and meals elsewhere. The perfect base for your holiday.

For the low cost of the Falcon package deal, it was good value and gorgeous and I will go back (If they don't read this and bar me.)

" Stayed here with my boyfriend earlier... "

Stayed here with my boyfriend earlier this month and had a fab time. Rooms very clean and spacious, pool area was nice and clean too, they had a large pool which was mostly used by the kids where they had spoon diving and various entertainment, then at the smaller pool was where most of the couples were as it was nice and quiet. Not a huge amount of bars and restaurants in the immediate area, unless you just wanted to stay in the Faro 2 shopping centre, we spent a few nights in Meloneras and also got a taxi into Playa Del Ingles for something a bit more lively, taxis were constantly waiting outside reception and very good value. Went to Sioux City for the second time, its a must when you go to Gran Canaria! Overall had a very relaxing lovely time, would have been nice if the pool bar stayed open a bit later so you could get to know the people staying in your apartments and some of the staff could do with being a bit more friendly! also beware the card entry system at the gate, regularly didnt work and had to go up to reception to get a new one.

" My partner and I arrived for a seven... "

My partner and I arrived for a seven day break and were instantly impressed by the cleanliness of the place as well as the style and modern features of our bungalow. On our first day there, we found a total of 10 cockroaches in our bungalow, this is not a reflection of poor standards though as the accomodation was immaculately clean, I believe that this was caused by the large amount of vegitation in and around the complex. The vegetation is lovely and very well kept. We went to reception to complain about the cockroaches, after that some men came round and sprayed the whole bungalow as well as the cleaner giving the place a very thourgh going over. Problem solved. Although we did find the odd one or two after that. But hey, it's a hot country.

FOOD - The standard of the food is not bad, it is buffet style and the breakfast is more than addequit. We went half board and were glad we did, we were given tickets for every breakfast and tickets which we could use for either lunch or dinner, lunch is an option of four items in the pasta and eggs section of the a la carte menu or anything on the sandwich menu, and in the evening it's buffet again.
The reason we were most glad though is that there is not lots of eating choice within close proximity to the bungalows, the shopping centre FARO II is the only real option within walking distance. The restuarants here are a mix of international cuisine, steak houses and cafe's and pubs. although every restaurant seems to 'specialise' in every kind of food. I had a steak one night at a steak house near the top of the centre and to be completely honest it was rubbish. Johny vegas would have been leaner, and as i never had a saw with me I had to just leave most of it to lie there.

Beach - The beach is amazing and worth going to the island just for that alone, the dunes are spectacular. Although mid way between maspalomas and playa del ingles there is a nudist reserve which you walk in to with no warning, some people may not want to see that bit of it, but we found the way that naked men stand hilarious.

Excursions - We took the buggy tour of the island and that was great for my wife as she could admire the fine views, but not so great for me as i was driving, if you take your eye of the road here it's thank you and good night. The terrain on the tour is simmilar to that found in the scene at the end of the italian job, lots of sheer cliffs and no barriers.

SIOUX CITY - One word, GO. The best night on the island without a doubt.

Overall, the cockroachs were the only thing i had to complain about and that was fairly minor. I probably would go back.

" My two daughters(ages 19 and 29) and... "

My two daughters(ages 19 and 29) and I went from 24 Dec 07-7 Jan 08 to Maspalomas Gran Canaria. I have been to this area on 9 separate occasions and have always stayed in 4/5 star hotels as I never could find a really nice self catering apartment until now. Cordial Green Golf was great!

The complex is modern, extremely clean, and roomy. We had everything we needed. Maid service was regular and very good. The complex is kept to a high standard with two lovely very large swimming pools. The staff were very cheerful and amazingly helpful.

We were very well situated for a less than 10 minute walk to the Faro shopping centre where there is a superb Spa supermarket, excellent (reasonably priced) restaurants, and lively bars.

A 20 minute walk will take you to the lighthouse at Melenarias and the up market designer shops, fabulous restaurants on the seafront(although a bit pricier then the Faro),great quiet bars and the casino.

There is a doctor’s medical centre less than 5 minutes from the complex.

I can highly recommend this complex in the winter months as it is very quiet, however I think it will be very crowded in the summer months.

I hope you decide to stay at this complex as I feel it will suit any family.

" Me and my pregnant partner chose this... "

Me and my pregnant partner chose this resort for a quiet winter break and it fitted the bill perfectly.

The apartments are compact but clean and comfortable with a good bathroom and cosy living area. TV (nearly all German except news) is 13euro for the week and a microwave is 25 which is a bit steep. No grill but there is a toaster.

The pool area is this complexes forte. It really is fantastic and well maintained. The only reason this place doesn’t get 10/10 is that the staff in reception are very abrupt and the courtesy room is terrible.

There is a small supermarket hidden in the complex but you have to ask to find it. We only had the breakfast buffet one morning and it was good. For anyone looking for a wilder time playa del ingles is only 5 mins in taxi for 4 euro and you can sleep in peace when you get home.

Nearby faro 2 shopping is scant but a good place for midday snack and playground for kids.

Maspalomas beach is fantastic if you enjoy a walk and dunes go on forever but sea is fairly rough for swimming.
