My girlfriend and I have just came back from the Sierra last week and the one thing I can say is that the hotel is exactly how it looks in the photos.Im normally quite a fussy person but I am struggling to find faults,2 areas I can one being food. The food was repetitive on a morning however was still alright, dinner you had a good choice aswell as the snack bars, the only downfall is some of the staff can be miserable, mind I would be too standing in blistering heat and having to serve rude Russians!! Dinner time again there was a wide variety but the food is very rich hence the reason people moan about bad stomachs,We decided to eat out a couple of nights and WOW is all I can say, the Mandarin bar is amazing for food. The Ice bar is a must! The other small complaint is not in the hotel but the bars outside where you are still all inclusive, they do their upmost to ignore you unless you tip them and even then its like pulling teeth.Generally speaking though the hotel staff cannot do enough for you irrelevant of Tips or not.The spa pool was amazing and the the lifeguard called Sameh is one to talk too...what a laugh. The rooms were amazing and complimentary water is provided everyday sheets on the bed changed daily and fresh towels daily, room service is efficient and the safe in the room is FOC which is good, the air con is brilliant and the showers are cool but just what you need after a long day in the sun.Drinks, they are fine however avoid Ice as this is known to upset your stomach.I would not advise Naama bay if you dont like being pestered or you lady being laired upon!!!!!! it is a bit extreme,SOHO is totally opposite you can realx and look where u want without hassle, the beach is amazing also recommend scuba diving and snorkelling. All in all an amazing holiday and I will definately be returning

Some rooms are a little tired now and could do with some TLC, but the complex layout and excellent staff more than make up for these small problems, just back from our third visit and have seen vast improvements every time we go, food is plentiful and widely varied and very well presented. Night time in Soho Square is improving each year, well done to all Sierra staff, see you all soon.

  • Advice: be adventurous, try everything,be very careful of sun during the day.

We didnt know what to expect after reading some reviews but myself and partner had a lovely time! The staff are very helpful and friendly, the food and drinks avaiable should satisfy everyone, that is unless you have nothing better to do with your time but moan!
The rooms are cleaned everyday with fresh towels and water, all beach and pool towels are provided, the beach is only a 10 min walk through the Savoy hotel with buses avaiable every 30 mins to take and bring you back, all clean and air conditioned!
The only thing that we would suggest is that they provide a more varied entertainment programme ,it could be very repetative and boring!
Would defo go again!

I John Morris my wife and two daughters recently stayed at the sierra, the first thing i noticed was that the rooms were in need of repair such as doors needing re hanging on cupboards re grouting in showers etc.the staff were helpful food not bad,The entertainment was poor the sierra hotel and Soho square needed some good British acts, but would probably not want to pay the going rate of better acts so our nights were cut very short not much else to do.I would advise anyone booking a trip with MTS travel in the hotel not to,on the board in the hotel they advertise the Ciro museum and the pyramids trip.it cost alot of money we flew from sh arm airport to Ciro on the trip of a life time, we got on the coach at Ciro and was taken to three places that were not mentioned on the advertisement in sierra hotel or by the rep for MTS.one of the locations was a masc the other a church and a papyrus factory all of which we had no interest of seeing and wasted at least two and a half hours sitting on the coach with others in very hot and dirty streets waiting for the few that did take up the offer.and then we were rushed through the Ciro museum like cattle the toilets in the museum were terrible and they were charging for toilet paper, the Egyptian government should spend a little of there millions they earn every year from the museum on updating the toilets.then we were whisked from there on the same coach with not very good air con through Ciro market it was absolutely filthy,we spoke to other people at Ciro museum who were with other groups they were having lunch at the hard rock cafe or the Hilton hotel.we was taken to a building on desert road near a canal which was damned ten feet high with rubbish all the way along it the building is called the queen Cleopatra we went inside upstairs to a room full of buffet food i walked across the room to the net curtains and lifted it i looked out of the window all the areas around the building were stacked with rubbish so we never ate a thing.the pyramids are one of the wonders of the world but even though we had a guide people were getting ripped off and harassed.the following day in the sierra hotel we complained to the MTS rep he said he would investigate our grievances the following evening he did not turn up the next evening he agreed to pay us back 50% but this did not materialise and on our final evening the manager of the hotel became mediator between us and MTS the final outcome was the rep said he never ageed to pay us any money back but HTS manager found in our favour and said to the rep you have miss sold this trip to these people and you should not be taking them to the queen Cleopatra for lunch.at this point the manager of the sierra said go to dinner and come back in an hour and that he would contact MTS offices to see what compensation they would give us,after being in the dinning room for around thirty minutes the manger appeared and said there was nothing he could do.i told the manager you should not let the MTS rep keep his advertisement for the trips on his wall because they were misleading and he agreed. but when we went into reception the same advertising was still there and the MTS rep was persuading another unfortunate young couple to part within there hard earned cash on which my daughter 21 stepped in and pointed out the pitfalls to the young couple who were most grateful for the insight.I had also seen others complaining at reception about MTS and some people having money and clothes stolen from there rooms but all these things seem to be stalled until there was no more time to achieve a conclusion we left the hotel with a bitter taste in our mouths, and told all the people who complained to sort it out when you get home good managment ah loll.

I stayed at the Sierra with my partner and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We are a couple who like to go on adventures when we are on holiday and sightseeing is our middle names, however the Sierra hotel was so lovely and the staff was so cool that we just ended up laying by the pool most of our time in Egypt! The pool is amazing and the Sierra alcohlic cocktail is delicious.
As we only stayed for a week, we did not find the food repetitive. It was quality food and very yummy.
Bartaring in the local area when shopping is a must in Egypt! don't be afraid to bartar!!!
I would recommend camel riding and quad biking in the desert if you are looking to go on any excursions.
The staff really make this hotel and I would recommend it to anyone.

The Sierra is a good hotel and in our view deserves it's stars. Unfortunately we contracted food poisoning whilst there, my wife & 2 children quite badly. My wife lost 16 pounds in weight!. The Sierra management did however pay all our medical expenses up front and took responsibility. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for ON THE BEACH holiday booking company or YOU-TRAVEL.COM both of whom backed away when we tried to claim. I am really appalled with these so called travel companies they really don't want to know afterwards. There customer service is the PITS and they really should not be allowed to peddle holidays in my view. I urge anyone booking for 2010 not to book through these uncaring so called agents. The Sierra and staff are very good but don't have ice in your drinks. Watch the salad has not been washed in there water.

We had a fabulous holiday at the Sierra Hotel. Booked last minute on the Monday and arrived next day on the Tuesday night. Staff are friendly and will do anything to help. The room was clean and tidy, each block has its own cleaner who you only needed to ask and he would do anything for you. The main pool is fantastic and there are several others some more quieter if you prefer but I have to say that the main pool was never over crowded. The food was good, yes it can be a bit samey but we found it you went round and checked out what was on offer first and then made your choice (rather than just filling your plate up with a bit of everything which so many people do) you can then have something different each day (same goes for puddings which were all very delicious). Really cant think of anything to complain about. Its close to the airport which personally was a good thing, no long coach journey which after a long flight is great, and my children loved to watch the planes land and take off. The location was great, just 10mins walk from the beach where the snorkelling is something that must be done. Also went on the Red Sea Cruise for more snorkelling and this was a really great day out. Would definately go back there again - best holiday ever - so relaxing. Yes you get the doggey tummy but it did not spoil the trip, just get some tablets from the chemist and your over it.

  • Advice: Its hot so make sure you have high factor sun tan lotion
  • Activities: The Red Sea Cruise was brilliant - we ate only at hotel and food was always well cooked.

My boyfriend and I visited the Sierra in June 09 and had a really great stay. We arrived at the hotel around 10pm and were greeted by helpful staff who gave us our all inclusive wrist bands and hotel info.
We were taken to our room, which was very spacious and comfortable with a massive shower, balcony and pool view (although we had stated Garden View when booking!). The air con is a god send, very powerful. Each day the cleaners change your sheets and tidy your room, and leave fresh water bottles in the fridge, which is handy for brushing your teeth also.
The hotel staff were very friendly, and often tried to use typical English phrases i.e "Alwite mate/geez" and "Diamond Geezer" which was funny. A small tip goes a very long way e.g 5 Egyptian Pound (40p approx) ensured our sunbeds were safe, room was immaculate and service was excellent.
The food....was a little disapointing. They have themed nights such as Italian and Oriental, however some dishes were a little boring. NYou would never go hungry as there would always be a selection of pastas, pizzas, breads, cakes, fruits etc everyday. At the pool, you could get pizzas, burgers and chips etc and the pool bar in the main pool served lovely cocktails, beers and soft drinks.
Unfortunately, no matter how careful you are with hygeine, you will definately get an upset stomach. My boyfriend and I got it on our 4th day there, unfortunately mine started in the middle of the desert!! As soon as you feel unwell, I would recommend asking for an injection at the local pharmacy at Soho Square. It only costs 40 Egyptian pounds and relieves the upset tummy and severe cramping within an hour, and you can then continue to enjoy your holiday.
There are many amenities to use at this resort, 4 pools, a gym, spa (which they charge you for), but what they don't advise in the brochure is that you can get free entry to the clubs in Soho Square and discounts at the Queen Vic pub if you are all inclusive at the Sierra. We had many enjoyable nights, especially in Naama Bay, which you can access by Shuttle Bus. Just put your names on a list at reception and it will say when it is picking you up. 10mins later you are in the heart of the night life, with many bazaars, bars, clubs and things to do for a fun night out.
The weather was wonderful, abut 38 degrees when we went in beginnning of June. I wouldnt recommend going in July or August. It would just be too unbearable!!! Stock up on Mosquito repellant, as I found out the hard way, after getting bitten 26 times in one night.... my leg was swollen and lumpy - resulting in another trip to the good old pharmacy.
Overall, I really recommend the Sierra, we had such a fab time, really memorable holiday despite the stomach troubles!! Great staff, good amenities, activities and it even has its own stretch of private beach where you can go snorkelling (which i really do recommend, its great!!) swimming, jet skiing, paragliding, or just chill out and sunbathe!.
Wish I could go back! Have a good holiday if you do go!

I am a lone female traveller and have visited the Sierra Sharm on 4 occasions. I will give an honest review on my experiences. I have been visiting the Sierra for the last year and fell in love wither service and attention to detail that the staff offer.
I find it strange to read the reviews on here…
The pool is dirty????? I have never seen a cleaner pool in my life. It is cleaned from 11pm – 7am!!! Pool very clean, very tidy and a lovely area to sit in... If you want a quieter pool there is the SPA pool which is always quiet but still has all the services you require, towels drinks, lifeguard etc.
Food – All inclusive food is designed to cater for all. You are never going to have food cooked to order, however there is a huge choice of food from salads, breads to a multitude of mains and a HUGE sweet selection. I never have a problem finding a meal and yes I also use the SOHO Square option if I get bored and fancy a change. I have never had an upset stomach or any sickness bug!
Room – It’s clean, tidy and comfortable. I have stayed in all parts of the hotel now and have never had a problem. If there is a problem however you just contact reception and it is rectified within a short period of time. (People forgetting the safe combination seems to be popular! Loll)
Beach – Nagy and Sheriff are fantastic. They like to converse with the guests and are very informative on the area and the sea life that you can see. If you are unsure of anything there is always help at hand. There have been a few occasions where people have cut themselves on objects and had injuries (falling over mainly) and they are dealt with professionally and without fuss. If anything sometimes people say they are ok but the staff still attend and make sure they are treated. The diving staff on the beach are also fantastic and helpful offering free trials and helping people to snorkel.
Staff – I can say that I have gone abroad for the last 15 years 3-4 times a year and I have never experienced staff like at the Sierra. There is never anything that is too much trouble. After a 14 hour day they are still happy to smile and pass the time of day. They will solve any problem and they love the English sense of humor.
Personally I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I would give the following advice:
• Never use tap water to brush teeth, use the water provided and ask for more if you need it!!!
• Do not drink alcohol during the day… its no good drinking from lunch time in 40 degree sun and then wondering why you are feeling poorly! WATER WATER WATER
• If bored of the food go out to Soho Square its fantastic and a totally new concept for Egypt.
• If you don’t want Men looking at you, put some clothes on!!! Walking the streets with your cleavage showing and then complaining they are staring…. Its not rocket science!
I love this place it’s my little piece of heaven, a place I go to unwind, chill out and relax. I always experience something new and I think I have met a group of the most genuine people on the planet. If anyone would like any further information or have any queries drop me an email to sarahb1976@googlemail.com and I will be happy to help. I will be back in 3 months and have booked for Xmas and New Year…..
Special mentions to Mr Hany a true gent, Reda,Louis,Aidel,Mena,George service in the bar was as always spot on and Reda makes the best Cuppa t! Sheriff and Nagy on pool and beach duty..... And Matt and Mahmoud in the queen Vic, the chemistry and banter between the two was top class and you made T time Raspberry Dakaris fly by!! A must to visit them!
