A bit disappointing
from June-francina
We stayed here for a week in September. The hotel is supposed to be 5 star but doesn't compare with other 5 star hotels we've stayed at in Egypt. The site is like a small village with a few shops and as we were at the far end it was about a 10 minute walk to reception, bars and dining. Gives you the chance to walk off your dinner. There seemed to a problem with the drains as we could smell them in different parts of the complex every day. Room: The tiles in the bathroom were all warped . The shower wasn't powerful but adequate. The room was a reasonable size but mosquitos came in every time we opened the door or went out to the balcony. There were six clothes hangers for two of us so we had to ask for more. Food: Plentiful and adequate but not quality. The main restaurant was a bit like a scrum with so many people getting food at the same time . The French option was disappointing. We paid extra for the options we chose from the menu... no bread roll with the soup and a lack of veg with the main course. Don't expect any potatoes or fries. The Italian was a bit better. The pools were good . The sea is very deep and you have to go off the jetty if you want to snorkel. The staff were ok .We tipped at the bar most days and rarely had to wait for our drinks. We met a few nice people there but it's not somewhere we'd want to return to. We expected better for the price we paid.
Wonderful Holiday

My wife and I have just returned after a fortnight at this hotel, and it was a wonderful experience. We stayed in room 4219 which was a family room. Two bedrooms/two bathrooms. The rooms are huge with very high ceilings, and are very comfortable. Omar, the housekeeper (cleaner) kept the room spotless and filled the fridge with water and soft drinks daily. He was also very friendly with a huge smile. Our room was near to the Relax Pool, which is where we spent most of our time. Lovely pool with plenty of comfortable sun beds, but the best part was the pool boys, all of whom were so chatty and friendly, especially Ibrahim and Anwar. They kept the pool and surroundings very clean. There is also a bar at the pool. There are three other large pools as well. FOOD. Breakfast was brilliant, with so much choice. I normally had porridge. There was also a station for omlettes and fried eggs. Beef bacon was also available along with sausages, and numerous other foods. Lunch was a little dissapointing. The beach restaurant was always very busy , but we were always served with drinks, even if we had to wait a few minutes. Lunch was also available at the Leisure Pool, which included salads, chips, burgers etc, and at the Bistro, which had chicked skewers, hot dogs, ceasear salad, soup, etc. The Bistro was normally very quiet at lunchtime. Dinner. If you avoid the time between 7pm and 8.30 pm, dinner is a pleasant experience. There is always plenty of choice, with something to suit every taste. The only downside is some of the guests, who have no concept of queueing or manners. The staff who are wonderfull were are fed up with these people as we were. The foodin the French and Italian Restuarants was good, even if the service was a bit slow. There are several bars open in the evening all of them offering something different. We had no problems getting drinks in any of the bars. THere are security guards all over the complex and if you smile and say hello it makes their day. All the staff were excellent, and if you show an interest in learing a few words in Arabic, you can't go wrong. The gardens are in the process of being planted and when mature this will be a fantastic resort, which has everything. We will definately return
Don't expect good food
from sheila00
The hotel is obvisiously new and in a fantastic setting. The rooms are large and very nice and the grounds are all well kept. However they do have a lot of service issues and overall the food was terrible. The impression we got was that the food was more geared for the majority of russian guests who stay there. The buffet restaurant was only open for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was OK as you can always find something even if it;s tea and toast. Dinner was another matter. Almost everything came in a sauce so it was hard to know what was in it, the veg's were soggy although a great pastry and dessert range there was no fresh fruit except for the odd banana or melon slice and that wasn't every day. There was a large bar and seating area near the main pool and at lunchtime it only served fish, and only one kind and that was served in a plastric dish with sections for rice and soggy veg. Sush a shame as it was in a beautiful setting. In the evening it became a BBQ restauant. We did look a couple of times but the food was so unappealing. One lunchtime we did eat at the beach cafe/restaurant but it was chocco block with russians and again the food was mediocra at best. We tried the Italian one night and although all right the menu was very limited and again the food was mediocre. We looked at the menu for the French restaurant and was surprised to see it was limited. 2 choices of starters, 2 choices of main course and 2 desserts. A big disappointment. There is a 24 hour bistro on the reception level but again the choices were limited. Funnily enough the Bistro served most of it's dishes with potato crisps while the room service menu, almost the exact same dishes came with french fries which they wouldent serve in the bistro !!!! The best food was at the top kiddies pool as it was fairly plain and the meat and fish were cooked in front of you fresh. Service was another issue, half the staff were brilliant and the other half were morose bordering on rude . I wouldent go back and until they can get the food up to a better quality and standard as well as the service, I wouldent recommend it to anyone else as well. Such a shame for a new and beautiful hotel. One person who helped us sort out our problems during our stay was Anna the Duty manager, she was polite and professional. Such a shame she had so many to sort out. Thank you Anna.
Good holiday overall.

I booked the Reef Oasis Blue Bay as a last minute getaway for myself and my fiance, as Egypt is pretty much guaranteed sun in October. I knew that the hotel had not been open long and had seen the reviews about the Russians, etc... but thought "What the hell!" Overall we had a lovely time and yes, the hotel is mostly made up of Russian people. Be prepared for a lack of manners at mealtimes which we found hilarious at times. It was as if somebody was going to close the restaurant the way some people raced to the buffet, pushed to get inside the restaurant and then cut in front in all the queues for food. Lunchtimes we found to be a total farce at the beach restaurant as they were majorly understaffed and sometimes we couldn't even get a drink of water. The food can get monotonous if you are a picky eater (as is my fiancee). He was glad we didn't go for 10 days as originally planned as his mealtimes were the same every day. Bless him! HOWEVER - the hotel is lovely. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, swimming pools are fantastic with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas to go around (no need to get up at 6am!) and the weather is beautiful. The spa is good as well. We both had a massage there. We did find the drinks a disappointment. Don't know if anyone else has mentioned that. The cocktails were really inconsistent at different bars and they kept running out of some of the mixers. When it is 100 degrees, the ridiculously small plastic cups you get for soft drinks can never hope to quench your thirst. I had to order at least 3 sometimes (just for me!). When they ran out of these at the pool, I was receiving my orange juice in little more than a shot glass!!!!!!! I would recommend this hotel though - it is not 5* yet but could be when the teething problems are sorted out. A lovely week away though!
Great but will be better in a few months

Stayed here for a week at the beginning of october. The hotel was very nice and although it wasnt finished yet, it didnt really detract from the holiday. The only think I would say about the hotel that was negative was some of the fittings and especially round the pool was starting to break up. Hopefully these will be fixed soon. The staff were great and couldnt do enough for you, A special thankyou to Aziz in the main restaurant, for teating us like royalty.
Needs improving, As do Thomson

Stayed there in August, the hotel itself is great, as are most of the staff. The main problems were that the hotel was not finished, we had a smell of raw sewage as they had a problem with this. Basically the cooks were not 5 star, we had bouts of sickness and so missed trips, plus 2 days with no electricity, the management were apolagetic, they just kept saying no problem. We had to call Thomson to get a doctor for sickness which involved 2 injections plus a collection of tablets, and missing a booked trip.Thomson were appalling they offered us £39 compensation for a well below parr holiday. Will never travel with Thomson ever again
Loved It!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September. All I can say is the food was excellant omletes, waffles and pancakes all cooked fresh every morning in front of you were fantastic! Lunch of chips, pasta, burgers and sausages got a bit monotenous after the first week. Dinner was excellent all fresh and joints of meat served every night too. If your worried about the food here dont, we were very impressed and had no 'Egyption Tummy'! (we had heard so much about.) The Hotel its self is large and very clean. I have Multiple Sclerosis and am wheelchair bound and although the hotel is wheelchair friendly I would not recomend it to disabled people as the ground is very cobbly and I found it a very bumpy ride. The staff are excellent and helpful both in the bars and in the resturant. Hotel staff are to most helpful and willing. The lundry service in particular is very fast and cheap! On the whole I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying the Egypt with the exception of disabled people.

we have just returned from sharm el sheik the Reef oasis blue bay resort dont be confused by the travel agents this hotel is a new one just open 2 months and not at the location as advertised in the brochures from Thomson ans Portland in fact the brochures say this is at ras um sid which is actually the other hotel and is 30mins drive away however this hotel does have a good location next door to the Sheraton and adjacent to the Hyatt the hotel is all inclusive and is generally very good although in our opinion is under staffed as although the staff are all very nice and hard working they seem to be under a lot of stress at all times especially in the restaurant they run around like headless chickens trying to please everybody because there are too few of them and also most of the poor lads were wearing soiled clothing probably because they did not have time to change i think the management needs to get their act together as this is supposed to be 5 star but clearly is falling well below the standard also mealtime is a bit of a bunfight between brits and russians and it was nothing unusual to wait in a queue to actually get in the main restaurant only then to find that most dishes were run out so be warned get there early or you will miss out clearly this is not 5 star treatment i have stayed in at least 10 5 star hotels in sharm and this does not match up overall this hotel is good but poorly managed maybe they are just getting going but dont hold your breath also be prepared for building work as the hotel is not finished and if you have children be aware of some construction with associated hazards
best hotel ive stayed at
from amandamichelle
I stayed at this hotel in June of this year on holiday with my husband. This hotel was excelllent the service provided was first class. Nothing was to much trouble and we were greeted every where with friendly people with smiling faces. There was a choice of a buffet restaurant also a french and italian this was particularly good. The hotel was near to the resort centre about a 10 minute taxi ride, and there were good trips on offer. The one i enjoyed most was to aquaba in Jordan. Entertainment at this hotel could be improved as this was repeated in the second week exactly the same. Alot of Itialians at this hotel very enjoyable holiday one of the best hotels ive stayed at for more information please dont hesitate to contact me
4* Hotel comes good - without a doubt this is now a wonderful 5*
from macdoh01
ok - so i booked this holiday back in July and I was a little concerned that maybe we'd get ill or the continued building work would spoil ours hols.. please feel free to read the earlier reviews but I believe this hotel has changed so much in the last 2-3 months. Yes, there are still buildings works ongoing but in no way does this remotely spoil the experience, yes, the lift down to the beach is still not operational - I heard that the lift(s) were delivered but didn't fit ! it's Africa remember. The fist resturant is not yet finished either. Most rooms are now finished & almost all landscaping is in place. I have to say the quality of the rooms, buildings, plumbing, pools, paths, ... everything - no corners have been cut. the workmanship is of a high standard. We travelled as a family with two kids (5 & 7) so booked a family room, this meant the kids had their own room (with own tv & stocked fridge) & ensuite. The waiters and other hotel staff were great with the kids. mini club: You can let the kids play to their hearts content in the outdoor pool here. There weren't many kids around (we are moving overseas soon so were in egypt to take in some sunshine prior to our move) so older kids might get bored especially if this had been a two week stay. Overall the animation team looking after the kids were excellent and the mini disco each night was loved by our two. resturants & bars: We tipped our waiters in the early days. These guys would remember your fav drinks and yip, no sooner had they seen you then your 'usual' would be at the table. oh, confession.... if a barman says "cheers boss" to you then that could be my fault ! (sorry). Try the crips. they are great. we had no worries with the bistro, in fact we had snacks & light lunches there a few times. LePetit (main buffet resturant) is now working flat out and the range of food on offer is fantastic. BREAKFAST -- imagine a Hilton breakfast were you might play a game and try to eat 99 different things ?! well.... i dare you to attempt 199 ! lol ! I guess sometimes, the bar staff could still be a bit quicker but what I feel is missing here is an experienced barman to be onsite to undertake a little training. the sweat was pouring off some of these guys morning, noon & night. excursions: Quad Safari - for £35 you'll go up into the Sinai mountians then lunch down at the beach. I loved this day. tips - take a towel to go swimming. you'll be charged 30 Egyptian Pounds for a head scarf to wear whilst on the bikes. If you go to Cairo or Luxor buy a scarf there. still, 30 Egyptian is only about £2.50-2.75 . buffet lunch & soft drinks included. Red Sea Cruise - £104 for family of four. this was an incredible day at sea taking in three dives sites within the Ras Mahammed area. The snorkling has to be experienced. buffet lunch & soft drinks included. my biggest tip: Take 10, 20 & 25 Egyptian Pound notes. I had taken a bunch of 100 pound notes which wasn't easy to break down. All in all, a great hols. Please feel free to send e if you have any queries.

We had a lovely holiday there at the end of August, the weather was perfect - hot but perfect - and the accommodation superb but the Fish Restaurant was great. Ayman and his staff really put themselves out to make our holiday one to remember and were so friendly. We spent... more
