" Just had a wonderful holiday at... "

Just had a wonderful holiday at Coraya Beach, the hotel is like an oasis in the desert with beautiful bedrooms and public rooms and I loved the Nubian village atmosphere with it's little cobbled streets and archways, food was fantastic and very varied and being a retired chef I am fussy about quality, hygiene standards and presentation but no problems here. Now to the staff where can I start, our room was spotlessly clean as where all the areas in the hotel the gardens were a joy to see and they were kept in pristine condition, reception staff were very efficient and courteous, animation team did their best under difficult conditions as most of the guests had chosen that hotel because it was quiet and they just wanted to chill out, now we come to the waiters and chefs etc we had so much fun with these people no matter which restaurant or bar we were in and the service was excellent the one thing we remarked on was that not once during the holiday did we feel that anyone was hanging around waiting to be tipped, I must mention the deputy manager who was always around quite often eating in the buffet restaurant like the rest of us and he actually waved us off when we were leaving which you don't often see, last but not least our rep Mark who did a very good welcome meeting not too long but very informative didn't push his trips although we did go on the one to Luxor and he was always visible around the hotel in the mornings.Had two weeks at this hotel and could definately have done a third, we have travelled all over the world but have always been a little hesitant about Egypt not anymore can't wait to go back!
" Went away for New Year - departing on... "

Went away for New Year - departing on 26th Dec 07 and we can not wait to go back!
Great location for a relaxing, chill out holiday. 10 mins from the airport - which is a private and small airport so very stress free travelling wise - we were the only flight out of there on the way back.
Food is great - no upset tums etc. A mixture of Egyptian style food and more familiar fish, chicken, veal, beef, salads, pasta etc. Excellent omelettes in the morning and everything is beautifully presented. The gala dinner on new years eve was amazing - you need to see it to believe it - they put on an excellent show and first class service/food. The local spirits are an acquired taste - need a double measure to taste. If you like your spirits I would recommend taking a bottle with you so you can have a couple in your room. Also no champagne available on normal days - only champagne available was on new years eve - moet at £180 a bottle - yes that's english pounds!! If you like your wine we found the white the best and if you are a lager drinker then you have no worries - local beer is excellent and comes in half litre bottles - freshly opened in front of you.
The service was brilliant all holiday through - nothing was too much trouble - I was travelling with my partner, my parents and grandmother - so there was a range of ages to please and none of us were disappointed - make sure you have plenty of coins for tipping - it is not compulsory, but for the excellent service we received they deserved it. We took a combination of euros and english money - these were eagerly accepted, along with us dollars and of course the egyptian pound.
One thing to mention - the pool at the swim up bar is lovely and warm - great for a winter holiday - like getting in the bath!
The weather was fantastic - temps in the day around 25oc to 28oc - a bit chilly on some evenings and you will need a jumper/light jacket if sitting outside. The sun goes down about 4.30pm too at this time of year so an early start in the morning is recommended to make the best of the weather.
Hotel has a private beach and coral - snorkelling is fab!! Went 3-4 times and it was breath taking.
If you are not bothered about going on any excursions do not go to the welcome meeting - a waste of an hour and a half, with the classic line 'I'm not into the big sell.....' but then proceeds to go on and on and ON about fabulous trips such as a 6 hour coach journey to Luxor to look at tombs etc etc - if I wanted to do that I would have booked to go to Luxor - not go to Marsa Alam and struggle for 6 hours on a coach to Luxor!
If you want peace, tranquillity, rest, great food, lovely views and excellent service this is the holiday for you - it really is a fantastic place. We will be booking to return shortly.

Superb hotel, extremely clean with staff that make you feel very welcome.
Two great pools and your very own coral reef off of the beach.
Two great restaurants and a great beach bar as well as two additional bars in the evening.
Evening entertainment every night is average but enjoyable and a nice selection of gift shops etc in hotel.
Gym, spa, sauna and indoor pool (if needed!) and day time activities are all there.
We went half board and the good thing is you get to eat the same food and at the same sitting as the all inclusive guests there is no separate dinning times or food.
Hotel is isolated and other than one shop about a 15-20minute walk away, the hotel is a superb ,get away from it all, relaxing place to be on holiday.
Room service is a must -but if you like you afternoon tea or coffee take a travel kettle as room as air con and mini bar/fridge but no tea making facilities.
Well worth 5 star rating - were booking up for 2 weeks for next Christmas (2006)- Well Done Thomson-great choice of hotel.
