Submitted By: lisajacobs42I must admit the aeroplane wasn't nice, but this has nothing to do with the hotel. The hotel is beauiful.
The service we recieved was ok, obviously they love the russians, apart from that we were served promptly and the food was lovely. Their breakfast buffet was the best meal of the day, I had fresh pancakes every morning, had a good variety of fruit and fresh veg. You do have to get your own drinks in the restaurant, however once you get to know the staff they are friendly and get your drinks for you. Please and Thankyou's don't cost anything.
The iailian restaurant however you do have to pay for, but it isn't very expensive, and is really nice.
The beach and the coral is well worth it. We went snorkelling everyday, and would be in there for an hour at a time.
The room we stayed in had a perfect view of the pool, beach and the gardens. The wardrodes were coming off the runners, but you soon get used to them. Our room was cleaned daily with water re-stocked and cleaned towels. They do have water fountains to re-fill your bottels, but i don't see a problem with re-filling up your bottle.
Our bed was massive and very comfortable.
Please bare in mind Marsa Alam is in the middle of no where, so if you want to see the egyptian history marsa alam isn't the place for you.
We wanted a holiday where we could have some sun and relax, and thats exactly what we got.
The entertainment people tried their hardest to kepp you entertained, they are very friendly. I enjoyed it as is was light entertainment and not in your face.
I thought with how big the resort is the pool would get crowded, however this was not the case, everyone was on the beach.
Our second week there, which was beginning of november the pool was freezing, but the sea makes up for that as it is warm all year round.
Well worth going. I can't wait to go back.
Advice: Beaches lovely
Activities: not recommended for sightseeing

" Too many flies "
Submitted By: D HoneymanThe outside grounds and beach areas are excellent, dont know if it was anything to do with time of year but we had no problem finding a sunbed.
The only down side to this holiday was the amount of flies, they were everywhere.
I have not read any other reviews complaining of the fly situation, again maybe this was something to do with the time of year we went.
The water was a little colder than i expected.
I would definately recommend this hotel, excellent value for money, but take plent of fly killer.

" terrible! "
Submitted By: Streuth…you crammed us on a flight with Astraeus. Almost six hours on a stinking wreck of a plane without any inflight entertainment whatsoever!!
You obviously do not care much about guests because of the appalling lack of water on this ‘all inclusive’ site. We got a bottle each on our first night. After that we were expected to fill up our bottles at water fountains. What kind of all inclusive service do you call that from a ‘five star’ hotel?
On top of that, you advertise the room as having a minibar. An all-inclusive hotel with a minibar should mean that it is stocked. This one had water in it for one night and that was it!!!! Therefore it is called a ‘fridge’ and not a minibar.
The air conditioning made everybody ill. After flu-like symptoms for 2 nights we found that turning off the aircon cured it after a couple of days! Legionnaires disease, here we come!
My wife and I are lucky enough to have been to several officially rated five star hotels. For the all-important food and service, this place should get a 3T because it is ever so slightly rubbish. Here are a couple of examples:
Every meal time we had to clear our own plates from the table and put them onto a neighbouring table. Otherwise they would not get cleared.
We all decided to stick to vodka and cola and ordering that was a challenge. None of the fancy cocktails here…not even a cocktail list! The bar tenders did not have a clue and the service was invariably slow with no ‘to the table’ drinks.
There is plenty of staff to ensure a good level service…but half of them do not work. The blue shirts just sit by the bar and do nothing and the white shirts supervise the blue shirts…and do nothing! n.b. they do not like it if somebody asks them to get a drink!!
The food was a choice of either bbq, bbq or bbq in various guises. And it was all pretty much rank. Oh, you also had to queue up for water for the table!! Classy place this one.
Our rep, Mr personality of the year 2007, tried to mitigate. He almost made me feel guilty for complaining!
Naturally we could not wait to get home. As we boarded the transfer coach we were comparing notes with other disappointed guests. The Atrocious plane had broken down (wonder it managed to fly in the first place) and we were delayed for a day!
" Brilliant holiday, food very good... "
Submitted By: Mrs S BarnesDefinitely recommend. Beds are hard but you soon get used to them. As with anywhere else that you go if you want a sun bed then you have to get up early to bag one, but have you honestly been anywhere else when this wasn't the case !!
Went to Hemingways on the last night, lovely setting for a candle lit dinner on the beach, but food was very disappointing.

Submitted By: Miss L ChilversFirst morning we went down for breakfast at 7.30am it was ok, we then went to the pool, no beds left at this time so we thought we would try the beach, no beds left there.
The beds round the pool that were saved never got used until about 5.30pm. The following day i was up at 6.00am, lucky to get beds but i did. i then went to have breakfast, as i was sitting there i saw someone throw my towel of the bed so i went storming out there and some bloody intalian woman started screaming and shouting at me, anyway i got all her things and chucked her off. So that was it every morning i had to go down at 6.00am just to get the bloody beds, i was suppose to be on holiday.
What you have at lunchtime is warmed up for the evening meals, we all ended up with dodgy stomachs. but i must recommend Hemingways Restaurant, we had a lovely Lobster meal on the beach for 40 euros each, well worth it if you like fish.
The Tiffanys bar is so bloody boring, no music and miserable staff, they tried to sell us a 1 litre bottle of coke for 9 pound as we wanted to have a drink in our room, yeh right. instead we just ordered 15 glasses of coke. A tub of pringles was 5 pound.
The hotel is all for the intalian, we could not believe it one afternoon when loads of them arrived they were given the full tour, the animation team making a fuss over them it was quite sickening. The Intalians are arrogant pig headed people, god i thought the germans were bad enough but give me them any day.
The pool area is very dangerous, so slippery and a part of the pool dips at one side so through the day you get flooded.
My kids were never approached by the animation team, they were only interested in the intalian kids. We was going to go to a foam party, but then found out we was the only english family we cancelled at once.
The pool bar was fantastic, Ali and Mohammed were so funny and friendly.
I have been to Egypt before but went to Sharm, i would never go back to Brayka Bay again. The pictures look so nice and entertaining, just be careful. My view is that the hotel is far to big, especially at meal times they do not have enough time to clear the tables so someone else can sit down. It was like a cattle farm.
If you do need to go to the doctors, just ask them what you want if he wants to examine you say no, because this will cost you 90 pound this is without medication. The family that went in before us ended up paying for three people to be examined plus ontop of that they were charged 12 pound for the tablets.
If after reading this you still book up then good luck!!!!!!!!!

Submitted By: Ms J ScottFirstly our holiday rep,Simon, was brilliant.Didn't have all the answers but had only been in the resort for 7 weeks and did his utmost to help us.
Love you Simon xxx (I was his entertainment).
The hotel was clean and the staff helpful and courteous better still never expected a tip.
This is a new resort but has a lot to offer especially to anyone who wants to snorkell or dive.
I would not recommend this resort to anyone with small children or those wanting the night life.
Childrens club was limited and usually in Spanish, the night life was pathetic but for me great as I prefer to sit and chat with new people ....showing my age.
So teenagers ...not for you.
The health Spa was brilliant and I never indulge at home so this was a good opportunity to spoil myself.
Sadly icecream was at an extra cost and we all know kids love icecream as do I.
Yes this part of Egypt is windy at times but without the wind you would be struck down with heat stroke .
The food was mediocre but if your hungry you eat although a lot of people were unwell including myself.
Well I had a good time and my only complaints would be
1. The life Jacket that nearly drowned me on a badly organised trip to Dolphin Island.
2. Fellow holiday makers ,mainly Germans and Russians, who felt they had the monopoly on the sun loungers.
Sadly we Brits followed suit but at 5am they and we were out there bagging a sunbed !
Having spent 8 hours on a bed by the pool looking at umpteen beds occupied by only towels I had an urge to chuck the lot in the pool...better still return them to the towel point and then they would have lost their towels..at a cost !
So I went one better and applied for a job as the 'Sunbed Police'.
Still waiting to hear.
But if I get the job I will be the one chucking towels in the pool after midnight!
Seriously this is a great place in the making .The snorkelling is amazing but not for children or teenagers at present.
I have also drawn up a list of words that anyone visiting any resort in the world needs to learn understand and appreciate.
1.Please
2.Thankyou
3.Excuse Me
4.Sorry
5.May I
6.I apologise
Non of us are perfect but we all need manners.
I only wish I could write this in several languages.
Well Marsa Alam I had a good time and you will grow and improve.
Simon,Thomas Cook, Brayka Bay,I love you,Your one of the best reps I have ever met .God Bless.
" Good points:
Lovely hotel... "
Lovely hotel rooms Kept very clean very large bedroom and bathroom with walk in shower (but hot water a bit hit and miss) very private balcony over looking the gardens and sea. although Thomson wrote and told us we all would be put on the ground floor rooms but know reason was given. all areas and pool very well kept. nice plush reception and reception staff very helpful and friendly, private sandy beach with access to the coral reefs very safe for children as the sea is shallow, clean beach towels every day.
Bad points:
The restaurant very over crowded and noisey at peak times a job to get a table many people walked round with their meals trying to find seats, very poor lay out of food area and long queues at times, a week was enough of eating chicken how many ways can you cook it!! breakfast a good selection of eggs! most food covered in five spice and herbs ( not Egyption)
Sunbeds same old thing not enough had to get up early like 6am to get a sunbed on the beach or round the pool anyone after 9.30am missed out.
Most staff very friendly but as usual some bar staff not.
Entertainment:
Very poor mostly carred out in the dico room as there is a lot of building work being carreid out to extend the hotel at the rear of the open air theatre
Overall a good holiday and would never say never go back! Very Very Hot

Submitted By: Miss S LaversIt is everything and more than the brochure says and has the wow factor from the start of your holiday to the end. I can't believe anyone could have anything bad to say about this hotel and the amazing staff. I'm going again on 7th May and then again on 24th September with my Mum.
The beach and snorkelling is fantastic as well and equally as good as the Maldives but less than half the price!
Well done Brayka Bay and see you all soon!

Submitted By: Mr G DavisThe only time you get plastic glasses like some people moan about is by the pool or on the beach which you get in any hotel whether it be 3 star or 5 star. We have just rebooked for next year we enjoyed it that much and this is the first time we have booked any hotel twice.
This is our fourth time in Egypt in 4 and 5 star hotels and this hotel was good and everybody we talked to there didn’t have a bad word or complaint about it.
