Have just returned from holidaying here with my mum and my sister and we are hopeful to return again soon. The overall standard of accommodation is very high for Egypt. The rooms are clean and spacious yet perhaps could also be considered for refurbishing in Western terms.... more

I was very wary of booking into a 3 star hotel in Egypt due to having stayed in a 5 star in Taba a couple of years back, and knowing that the stars as we know them back in the UK are light years ahead of Egyptian standards, but I was pleasantly surprised with the Swiss Inn.... more

Quality hotel at good prices
Stayed here for 1 week whilst windsurfing with Club Dahab/Club Vass in Dahab. The room quality was good: - A twin room with table and chairs and a good size - A balcony also with table and chairs - Safe in the wardrobe. - TV (mostly German channels) and minibar - Aircon worked very well although it was audible at night (didn't bother either of us though). - Well tiled bathroom with on-demand hot water at a good pressure. Food was half-board and had a diverse selection at breakfast and dinner (both buffet): - Breakfast: Many pastries (inc toast of varying types and different breads), cereals, omelettes on-demand, different juices, fruit salad, fried breakfast food, usual continental breakfast foods too - Supper: Soups, many salads and different starters, a variety of hot foods but potato/rice usually available. Always something "special" - e.g. grilled fish or pizza or gourmet kebabs, etc. The pool was open from 8am and there were towels. Beach bar prices were OK - about £2 for a 500ml beer.
Lived up to expectations
Booked this hotel as it seemed one of the only ones that received consistently good reviews on this web-site, and we were not disappointed. Dahab is a wonderful location and the Swiss Inn is right on the beach. We stayed in a Garden Room which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The food was as anticipated for an All Inclusive place; self service buffet, not particularly inspiring, but well cooked and plenty of choice. Staff could not do enough for you, and there was no expectation of tips for this service. A tip box in the restaurant and at reception was there for those who wished to reward good service. The best thing about this hotel has to be the beach. Beautifully groomed white sand and a gently sloping beach into the sea - ideal for young children. Never a problem getting a sun-bed, although if you wanted to get one in the front row, you needed to get down there by 8:30 a.m. The norm at this place was to bag your bed and then head off for breakfast. (This hotel did seem very popular with guests from Germany).
Excellent Hotel
A friend and I stayed here for a week as part of a windsurfing trip organised via Club Dahab next door. We had the option of here or the Ganet Sinai next door, with not much of a price difference. The room was spacious and as close to the sea as it could've been (sea view virtually no price difference to a garden view room). The room was cleaned regularly and thoroughly, which is handy when you're constantly bringing sand in. We were there on a HB basis and not once did we feel the need to eat out. Well, we felt we should but the food was too good where we were!!! The staff were excellent, always trying to find you the best table and taking care of you throughout the meal. The food was varied daily but you always had the option of salad, soup, pasta, a large selection of mains and desserts and coffee's etc We'd be surfing all day, grab a lunch at the surf shack, then eat really well in the evening's. Breakfast was the same, lots of options, all good and set you up for a hard day ahead. No hint of a dodgy stomach (not that i've got a weak constitution, just considering you're in an underdeveloped area - plus everyone we surfed with that stayed at the hotel next door suffered). Seems odd to mention that but it was a slight worry at first but we gorged 3 or 4 courses a night and never had a problem - maybe good to know if you're going with kids. Anyway, not left a review on here before but think this hotel deserves one. I've stayed at excellent hotels all over the world and this ranks right up there with any of them, pretty much faultless. Going to Dahab to surf again this year and will most likely stay at the same place. Considering staying at the Hilton next door, the rooms there were pretty good (met people staying there) but it was soulless and sure there will be a large supplement for sea views. Also don't know how the restaurant will compare, the Swiss Inn would take some beating!!
Clean, good position, recommended
Had 7 days here. Nice hotel - clean rooms. Helpful staff (tips?) Right on the beach with loads of watersports facilities right there. It's a 5 minute cheap taxi to Dahab village. Asked to change rooms for a better sea view, and had no problems. Definitely recommend this place for a well priced enjoyable stay, where everything ran smoothly.
Beautiful setting
Spent 2 weeks here and was very impressed. The hotel is nestled between the sea and the mountains, it really is a beautiful place. We had a garden view room with a balcony overlooking the spectacular gardens-they really work hard to keep the grounds looking good. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful and they really added to the holiday. Food was great, with an excellent selection for breakfast and dinner every day. We dived and windsurfed in Dahab and it is an ideal base to do both these activities (although the water is chilly this time of year!). If you are intending on sitting on the beach every day, be warned...you need to get out there early to get a seat at the front...!!!
Great Hotel
My husband and I stayed here in April '05 and liked it so much that we are going back again in April '06. The facilities are good and the staff are excellent.
Lovely place.
I have just stayed here with my mum for a winter sun break. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens directly on the private tourist beach (nil hassle). Here the water is still and clear and sandy underneath - perfect for swimming (although it was a bit cold at this time of year). The pool looked nice, but again was a bit too cold for comfort. The views from the hotel and the beach over the mountains of the Sinai peninsula are breathtaking. I used the hotels own windsurfing and diving centres for activities - both very friendly and well organized, although probably pricier than the centres in town. For non-sporty types there isn't much to do apart from sunbathe. The hotel didn't have any animation/entertainments in the day or evening - but we were content with chilling in the cosy bedouin beach bar. It's worth going into the local town Masbat 5 mins by taxi for a bit more nightlife. Food was good - lots to chose from. Bottled water easily available. Alcohol expensive. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our standard gardenview room was OK (maybe past its best)- but we managed to upgrade to a seaview room which was much superior in all aspects. Out of the 4-5 hotels on the dahab lagoon beach (had bit of a look a round) - we would definitley return here.
Excellent hotel
A very comfortable, well-run hotel. The rooms were very spacious with plenty of storage space, ours was a standard room and was about 15' square. The bathroom was nice (little soaps etc are provided), but the bath was shorter than standard. The water was always hot and had good pressure. There is a minibar, but it's rather pricey. However, you can put your own bottle of water in the fridge to keep it cool. There are safes in each room. They work on a number combination which you have to set each time. I found this very useful because we didn't have to worry about keeping the key safe or hiding it anywhere. The food is excellent. Huge choice, and all good quality. The menus were quite German / Alpine influenced - a bit bizzare eating raclette in Egypt! Every Sunday there is an Egyptian dance show at dinner, so it's worth getting there early and finding a table near the front. Everyone stays half-board at the Swiss Inn, and this includes dinner but not drinks with dinner (not even water). Water is about £1 sterling a bottle, so not exactly going to break the bank but it is annoying that it isn't included. You can put all the drinks onto your room bill. There is a cash machine and a bank inside the hotel. We got a better rate of exchange into Egyptian pounds than we would have in the UK. You can also pay for things in Euros. The pool is clean and there are plenty of sunbeds (with matresses). On the beach there are wind-protected canopies with nice wooden sunbeds. This does mean that if you're not at the front then you can't see the sea very well, but at least you can sit out of the wind (and it is windy!). They provide beach towels, which you can exchange for clean ones every day. We'll definitely be going back.
Swiss Inn - a great place to stay
This was out first trip to Egypt and we were very impressed with the standards of the Swiss Inn. The rooms were lovely and clean and the food good. Our only complaint would be the cot that we had for our 14 month old daughter. The sides were too low (when standing they only reached her chest!) therefore she could easily tip herself out. If we had known we would have bought our travel cot with us. We were holidaying as part of a package with Club Vass and the hotel was a 30 secomd walk to the kit. The wind was great, flat water blasting all day. An excellent location. I personally prefer it to Club Vass as the wind in Dahab was there from the minute you woke up - wheras in Vass you have a lot of lounging around until after lunch. I would definitely recommend Dahab.
Swiss Inn Hotel
I stayed at the Swiss Inn Hotel and found it a very good, above average hotel. The rooms were spacious and pleasant. The service was above average and you always felt you were being delt with reliably and efficiently. I have been to Margarita and Vassiliki windsurfing. Dahab has been the best for wind i have ever been to. You have a choice of areas to windsurf in so beginners to intermediates can stay in the lagoon while the more adventurous can head out an area called speedy and the more advanced can go to an area called kamakazi. I went on a camel ride excusion for a bedowin meal which was nice as well as a night out in Mashraba where there is a good restaurant called Penguin. Overall a very nice place to stay and windsurf.
