The Barbizon palace is right by the central station, so no costly airport transfers! Within easy walking distance of the canal boat tours.
The hotel was lovely and the service impeccable. The bar staff gave us free cocktails as we ordered champagne two nights running in the bar.
The concierge organised us restaurant tables and taxis which is really helpful in a foreign city.
I would highly recommend using the canal boats to transport you between the sights. We got on near the hotel so we got a nice little tour, hopped off at the Van Gogh museum, got back on to the Anne Frank house, then had a night time journey back round to the hotel. I thought that this was brilliant value for money as we got a general tour and transport in one for only a few Euros.
There are some fantastic restaurants just down the road and night time cafe's to wind down in. Don't b intimidated by the red light district, it's well worth a wander down just for the novelty value! All in all, the best holiday I've had in a long time.
