" Islantilla Real is located in... "

Islantilla Real is located in Islantilla Golf. It has about 90 two floor houses with services as swimming pool and a porter.

It is really close to the beach. We took just 8 minutes walking and it has the advantage of the quiet area (golf view, nice area, no car noise, peaceful night).

We did really spend a wonderful holiday time.

" We took a last minute holiday this... "

We took a last minute holiday this summer. Compared to other parts of Spain, we found that the Spanish Algarve (the region closest to Portugal on the south coast) had a much less developed and more Spanish feel. Although not empty (after all it was August, and lots of people from Madrid come down here), there were very few Brits. and hardly any horrid bars and restaurants catering to supposed 'British' tastes. Nice tapas bars though!
We flew to Seville, which is a couple of hours drive from the resort, you will need your own hire car. We understand that Faro is closer, but of course RyanAir don’t fly there at the moment. At least Seville airport is simple, with the hire car pickup right outside the terminal and only one terminal.
The resort is built around a golf course - lots of apartments and villas with nice green vistas. Parking is a nightmare unless you have a private area with your apartment (we did) - all the roads seem to be double-parked down the sides and then the pedestrians have to walk in the road! So don’t get a big car.
We arrived very late at night, and had a scary moment when we couldn’t contact the agent we were supposed to meet to get the apartment keys. But once inside, the apartments are lovely - bigger and better equipped that we’ve been used to in Spain, and looking right out over the golf course. We even had a washing machine and dishwasher - luxury! We had fans in each room - you will need that in summer.
Most of the time our children had sole use of the communal swimming pool - seems the Spanish prefer the beach. Which is nice and long and wide and seems clean and safe for kids.
There are several supermarkets in the area if you are self-catering - Dia seems to be the cheapest - and the quality of the food is great.
In the summer the golf course is pretty quiet - too hot during the day for us - and not too expensive. There are lots of courses in the area if you are a golf nut.
Ayamonte is a lovely border town with lots of shops, market stalls, restaurants etc. - worth a visit. Everyone was so friendly, even though we can hardly manage a word of Spanish.
We’re not into night clubs etc. so if you're looking for that I can't help you. The commercial area was very lively at night - just bars and restaurants and shops as far as we could tell though, very family-oriented.
Watch out for traffic queues into and out of Lepe (the town on the way to the motorway) - not really sure why.
