not worth the money
from ert234
as someone who has visited this hotel in the past it is dissappointing to see that the new owners seem to be trying to cut costs at the expense of good service, the rooms are still very clean with regular changes of linen, the pool area was very messy but this is the fault of inconsiderate tourists, we had no poolside entertainment except rifle shooting a few days a week even though it was advertised on the notice board, we were left to our own devices to get equipment befor the germans found it and took over the pool. i also noticed two rats one evening near the pools.i suspect there would have been more if not for the hotel cats keeping the population down as i found a few dead ones too, the food in the hotel is fair but with very little choice compared to other years we stayed here, dont touch the turkey its aweful. prices in the bars are about what you would expect and the mainly east european staff arent bad, the food in the casablanca bar was much better than the main restraunt but you had to pay for it though the portions are very good so i skipped the evening meals in the main eating area and purchased my evening meals in the casablanca, while we are on the subject of the casablanca show bar the entertainment is quite good and free, the entertainer ray is a very hardworking individual doing just about every job in the place including singing, he has a good powerful voice and we chose to stay here in the evenings, paddys bar next door is also part of the hotel and is open till 4 in the morning with live entertainment and great staff, in general this place is becoming a little run down with plaster falling off the ceilings in places, i hope they turn this once fantastic hotel around and make it once more a place for the brits to come too, till then i think i will go somewhere else nearby as i love san antonio,
Lovely Hotel

just stayed at the Costa Sur Hotel. i gotta say that its the best Hotel break i've had abroad. the rooms were clean if a little small. the two pools were superb but be prepared to get up between 8 and 9 am to put your towel on one of the beds. lots of different nationalities Wales, English, Irish, Italian, Spanish and Germans. all very friendly. the staff are very HARD WORKING (especially the bald waiter) and that may be why some don't smile so much. the entertainment is great, especially the belgian trio. i liked them cos their belgian accent made the songs sound funny. the resident entertainer (Ray? the man with the moustache)was great, good with kids and adults. food was good in the hotel and the rooms have superb air conditioning which is included in the room price. have heard about other Ibiza hotels which charge extra for this. the only downside is that the only enlish speaking channel on the TV in the hotel is CNN in case you want to stay in one night and chill with a couple of cheap beers from the supermarket. Paddys Bar next door is good also and the small girl behind the bar is really cheerful and friendly.
this hotel has changed a lot

after many visits to this hotel in the past we were disappointed to say the least, the usual friendly waiters and staff had all left except a few and they dont smile as much as they used to the food has changed for the worse with little choice compared to previous years the only thing that hadnt changed was paddys bar at the front of the hotel, still a good laugh in the earl hours, the casablanca cabaret room has turned into something like an unpopular working mens club without the resident entertainer Ray Moss who left halfway through our stay,. the entertainment is now provided by 3 young belgians who dont seem to have much idea, the pool area was sptlessly clean in the morning but had the appearance of a council refuse tip in the evening after the mostly non british guests had finished with it, the ground staff were very good at cleaning up though hosing the area down most evenings, im afraid we will not be returning to this once very good hotel,
Brilliant, fun, clean family holiday hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in June 2006 with my boyfriend and his family, including an OAP and a 5 year old child, my boyfriend and I are both in our 20's and everyone in our party found the hotel to be a fun, friendly place with something for everyone, we would definately go back there again. We stayed on a half board basis in the hotel side of the complex, but there are also apartments for if you wish to go self catering. The rooms in the hotel were cleaned every day to a very high standard. The maids were very pleasant and always knocked before entering the room. It seemed that if you booked a 3 bed room you got a double bed and a single bed and if you booked a 2 bed room you got 2 single beds. The food in the restaurant was lovely, much nicer than we had expected. There was always a large variety to choose from, with an extra counter serving things for the children. The staff were extremely nice, most of them spoke perfect english and were always happy to help. As with the rooms, the restaurant was always kept clean and tidy. There are 2 large pools and a child's pool, with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Some people got up at the crack of dawn to reserve their places by the pool, but we never had a problem finding a sunbed and a nice spot. There are regular activities and games by (and in) the pool, run by the reps for anyone to join in throughout the day. There is also a kids club at certain times throughout the day. There is a bar by the pool which also serves food, such as sandwiches and pizza, we ate there a few times and found the food to be very nice. The hotel is next to serveral bars, shops and restaurants. As the hotel is on the bay it isnt as busy with pubs and clubs as san antonio centre is, but there are regular boats (every 10 mins) to the centre and back, which only costs 1 euro each way. The last boat back to the bay leaves the centre at about 11, but it doesnt cost much in a taxi if you want to stay later. The nightly entertainment in the hotel is great for kids, they all loved the host, Ray, and his adaptation of 'is this the way to amarillo'! There were special guests several nights of the week, such as a drag show, which was great for kids and adults and also the marvin gaye tribute. Next to the hotel is a restaurant/bar which has a bouncy castle, trampolines, water dinghys, a large play area and a minature golf course! The food there is lovely and the bar staff are great. We went there most nights as our 5yr old niece loved it. There is also a karaoke there every night!! We would also recommend going to the mardi gras, which is an evening show, great for kids and adults. You can buy tickets through the reps at the hotel, we also went to the hippy market on a coach for the day, which was organised by the reps. both trips were well worth the money. All in all the costa sur is a great place to stay for a fun family holiday. 5*!
Best Hotel.

Thomson Super Family
from A TripAdvisor Member
We visited this hotel in Aug 2005, on a Thomson Super family package and stayed in an apartment room. The hotel is in San Antonio Bay, at the far end from the main San Antonio nightclub area, so it is relatively quiet. The room was clean and tidy, towels and sheets are changed frequently, and will be changed on request. The room had TV with a BBC childrens channel, but bizarely it was only on for a few hours in the middle of the day?! Tthe only other channels were CNN and Sky News (frequently the service was unavailable). The catering facilities were sparten, two hot plates, toaster, kettle, fridge, sink and a basic microwave. There was nowhere to store food, and the extractor fan wasnt connected, the cutlery and plates were short in number. As usual with med hols the room had twin beds, ridiculous for a couple. Sofa provided two single beds for the kids. The room was very quiet as we were on the top floor and furthest from the entertainment area, rooms over the entertainment wouldn't be so nice. The bathroom was acceptable, but as we were on top floor water pressure was low, also the water has a very high mineral content, and is very salty(sea like), makes washing (showering) difficult, and bathing unpleasant. Take a plug, if you want to use bath, bidet, or basin as they werent any good in any room! The entertainment was good in part, we stayed for two weeks and saw a variety of acts from excellent to damned right awful-in fact one act was cringe worthy, the hotel has the Casablanca bar and an Irish bar. The resident singer in the Casablanca bar Ray Moss was an excellent host and enjoyable singer. The Thomson super family reps did some evening entertaining in the Casablanca and it was very poor, they did hold the usual mini disco for the kids, which was good. They also held evening theme nights for the kids in the Superfamily drop in zone which was excellent, and I mean excellent, but there was too few of them. The super family kids entertainment/activites during the day was good, but again there was too few activities, and kids were only entertained for 2 hours, and in age groups which was a nightmare if your kids fell into two different groups. The hotel has three pools, one sunshaded baby pool outside the superfamily drop in center. The two main pools were inadaquate for the amount of people in the complex, both pools were constantly crowded, it would have been nice if one pool could have been kept clear of inflatibles! The pools were kept clean and hoovered every morning, this could have been done better. Sun beds are stacked and kept locked overnight and are only unlocked ay 9am, this creates a bizarre situation where everyone still gets up early to reserve their spot, but they have to wait around the pool until the stacks are unlocked!!!!!! PS while we stayed at the hotel, one young hotel resident was stabbed one evening and another fell out of a balcony and was seriously injured. The hotel is good, but as this was supposed to be a Superfamily holiday, we were disappointed as the hotel was not exclusively for children, teenagers(12-15) were being served alcohol without any form of ID, and the amount of smoking around the pool and in the hotel restuarant during meal times was unpleasant to say the least, and most definitely not a place to take children. The local area was well served with shops and eating places, good bus service(€1.15 each), and water taxi(€2 each from Hotel Milord beach) to the main town area of San Antoino. Water sports are available, a jet ski is available on the Milord beach (5min walk). San Antonio itself offers alot paragliding, jet skis, donuts, bannanas, sailing, motor boat hire (cruiser), and a jet boat ride at speeds of, yes 60mph (45 knots). The beach at Port de Torrent which is 10min walk from hotel is pleasant, has sandy beach with sun loungers, peddelos etc, sea diving is based here also water taxi service to San Antonio (€3 each), and there is water sking, wake boarding, seadooing( 3 man donut), banana, and a scrambler. The later was brilliant with all four of us including two kids 6 and 8yrs riding 8 inches above the water lying down, head first. The beaches, Milord (2min walk) , Port de Torrent (10min walk) and San Antonio (water taxi) are the nearest beaches. The cleanest and most enjoyable was Port de Torrent, the other 2 were quite filthy, broken glass, cigarette ends, litter etc. In fact we went to watch a sunset on the local beach and left as it was drug induced haven and the beach was absolutely disgusting. The best part of the hotel is the food, we went self catering but upgraded for a week, but didnt do the second week as the choice was limited, and the actual restuarant was small and crowded, long cues for the one coffee and one juice machine in the morning were standard practice. All juices were watered down and sweetened. One night there was a carvery with lamb and beef, the lamb ran out in first hour of resturant being open. Soup, which I tried every day was much worse than a dried powder soup, tasting artifical. Sweets were good but there was a lack of choice, sponge cake with everything! As this was a super family holiday there is supposed to be kids food, whilst there was a seperate kids food counter, it was severely lacking.

HOTEL WAS SPECTACULAR. THE STAFF WERE GREAT. We went on a THOMSON SUPER FAMILY HOLIDAY and there was a great kids club from 8pm till 9pm then there was different entertainment on every night in there casablanca bar. If you have kids its agreat place to go as just a few yards down the road there is all bouncy castle area's and mini golf places which we loved as well. All the reps were great as in the day time they played music at 11am for an hour then while the kids go off to kids club they do a quiz to break up your sun soaking for an hour. TOWELS CLEAN EACH DAY. BEDDING EVERY OTHER DAY. AND FOR YOU CLEAN FOLK THEY HAVE THERE OWN LAUNDRETTE. SO GO GO GO XXXXXXXXXX

Going to Costa Sur this year for the 3rd time...Its great for families with young children(mine are 7 and 1) and couples. The rooms are cleaned every day, towels changed every day, bedding changed every couple of days. They have a kids club(I don't know what activites they do because my son wouldn't go!),a soft play room for little ones which was great,2 pools with kids pools attached and a nice sized little paddling pool with a sun canopy over it for young children. There are 2 play areas,1 on a sandy surface with climbing frame, slide, etc and another 1 with 2 adventure climbing frames. The choice of food is excellent, dining room very clean, staff friendly and helpful.Entertainment is good in the Casablanca. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.
