Just back from a weeks Holiday and stayed in Barcelo. Hotel, grounds and room where 5*+ staff service, pool areas were also great, pool very cold though but good to cool you down once you were in. Sun beds were easy to come by and no one fighting over them, plenty for the... more

Hotel Saturn is in the perfect location in Sunny Beach and is near to all amenities, bars, restaurants and excursions. It is within a very pleasant one minute walk/stroll to the beach. Although the hotel was clean and rooms cleaned everyday with towels and linen changed... more

beautiful hotel
When I arrive sunny beach the hotel had open just 4 days before. We were the first persons in that rooms! The hotel is really beautifull, great conditions, and the rooms were probabaly the best I ever been. The hotel didn´t have any animation, but I enjoy that because in sunny beach everyting is a little to noisy. Altought the hotel food wasn´t very good and the cleaning service was poor. The staff was nice and the location is also great.
Excellent Holiday
First impression of hotel was gorgeous, and continued like this., We werestaying in the hgotel section, with half board, have to admit breakfast wasnt much so ate around the corner for breaky with lovely coffee and bacon and toast for 2 for 11 Lev. Bar @ hotel, staff kept coming as I requiredtop up's!! food was gorgeous ate every lunch time there, KFC was close athand for any picky eaters and also mcdonalds down the road. Spa facilities were out of this world, very clean conditions. My girlfriend enjoyed the shops in the mall and there seemed to be plenty of activities for kids. Noise wasnt a problem, everything around the hotel seemed to die after 1 am. All in all a great holiday, well worth a trip to old nessebar town also.
What a let down!!!!!!!!
We just spent a week at this hotel. won't be returning!!! Ideal for sunbathers and people who don't want to do any activities, or anything else for matter!!! Overall it was pretty poor considering it is suppose to be a 4 star, I would say it was more like 2/3 star! The room was very spacious, didn't get a pool view even though it was requested, but was willing to let this go! The Food is buffet style, which is usual for AI, however, if you don't like Chicken or beef your pretty much left with just a bland selection of pasta, chips, salad & fruit. However the Bar pool menu is included in AI and have a nice selection of afternoon snacks. The staff are pretty miserable, it's as if they really don't want to be there and show it!!! with the exception of Nick (pool bar) he went out of his way to talk to us and make us special cocktails etc Our biggest disappointment was that there really is no entertainment whatsoever, daytime or evening, well I did see two guys from the animation team try to play water volley once but........say no more. I'm just glad that our two children spent the week at their nans caravan instead of coming as they would have been extremely bored!! There is plenty of entertainment outside of the hotel, just a short walk away, walking up & down sunny beach strip is an experience in itself. Overall I would like to go back to Bulgaria (sunny beach) but I would definately not stay at this hotel again, instead I would choose one of the 4/5* hotels at the top end as they are actually looking over the beach and seemed to cater for everyone.
Whole family loved staying here
We have just returned from a two week family holiday and just loved this brand new 5 star complex in the heart of Sunny Beach. Have read on other forums that there were problems at the start of the season but seems to be up and working well now. The buildings and grounds are lovely. The 3 outdoor pools and indoor pool, play area and entertainment staff kept the kids occupied for the whole 2 weeks.
Lovely hotel but no 2 bedroom apartments are there
Hi, we just got back yesterday. We had booked a 2 bedroom apartment as we have small children and as someone on here said they had booked the same but didnt get one I chased the travel agent (1st choice) to find out what kind of room we had. We were told that we would get our 2 bed room apt and then on the day before we went we received a phonecall to say that no actually this accomodation didnt exist!!!! They offered us 4 x 1 bedroom apartments (8 of us went, 2 families) and we told them this was just not acceptable. In the end as it was such short notice that we decided we would make do but as we made up quite a stink in this country before we went when we got there we were upgraded to a premium suite which had 1 bed and a sofabed. The room was lovely and the bed was big enough for all 4 of us to go in!!!!. Try to get upgraded to one of these if you can, they are a lot nicer than the 1 bedroom apartments. Also found the staff there miserable and not very helpful and there really is no need to go all-inc as there are so many restaurants around to choose from and most of them have entertainment most nights and childrens areas. Oh, and we had 2 days of rain where the temperature did drop so pack a jumper. If any questions please ask.
Going to Barcelo royal beach on 10th Aug
Hi, From the reviews we have read, we are a bit aprehensive about our holiday to Barelo Royal Beach in a weeks time. we are travelling with two young children, and are quite concerned about the food situation. also no evening entertainment??? and has anyone used the hotels kids club, and what facilities are there for young children? Please can anyone advise how bad it really is?
Nice location, poor service and terrible food
The hotel is in a great location and the accomodation was excellent.. Ok so the lifts broke down and a few minor problems with the old air conditioning but in my opinion the real problems are too few staff to provide a quality service - they all work very hard but there aren't enough of them. The hotel pool bar staff were very rude and ignored you if you were all inclusive. It took so long to get served we often gave up and went across the road to a pub where their staff were quick to serve. Very frustrating and adding additional costs onto an all inclusive holiday. The food is absolutely terrible and some is unfit for consumption - half cooked chicken was served up most evenings. Everyone I spoke with agreed the food was dire and most decided it was safer to eat out - rather than risk food poisoning. Also the buffet food was generally cold. Everyone (from the UK) complained about the food and most chose to eat out. The airtours travel rep had a daily queue of people complaining. No daytime or night time entertainment meant it was very dull. In summary - if they could sort the food out, take on some more staff, sort out the poolside bar staff it would be a nice place to stay. My advice - chose another hotel asap!
Run a mile
Just back today we found two sides On the bad side it is very noisy, however on the plus side if you like to hear thumping music till 3am and you are as daft as a brush it is perfect
Disaster from start to finish
Just back today from our family holiday at the Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. All in all a complete and utter disaster. I have never been so happy to be back at home. If you have booked, I would strongly recommend you change your holiday. We had booked one week all inclusive at this resort. This holiday is marked as a 5 star (4 star premier) with First Choice. However if you want my opinion its lucky if its a 2 star. We went to this hotel to get a 2 bedroom apartment due to personal reasons (teenagers etc). On arrival after a 4 hour delay at the airport we were told that actually there were no 2 bedroom apartments available for our stay so we were given 2 separate rooms, not ideal for our first family holiday together, more like 2 separate holidays. From then on it all went downhill. Every day the residents were having arguments with Travel Rep and Reception Staff, every day people were checking in expecting to get the holiday they booked, with a lot of disappointments. Same food every day although they say every day is different (Asian, Bulgarian, Chinese, etc etc, the only thing that changed was the background music). The food was cold and beware of the chicken, it is not cooked properly. We are not fussy eaters as a family, however we struggled to get something to eat every day which we enjoyed. We were all inclusive so this was a major disaster!! For a hotel that was only opened since May, or for 3 weeks everyone told us a different story, it was dirty, bins overflowing, carpets in hotel absolutely filthy, lifts that did not work, extremely unhelpful and to be honest rude staff around the hotel, fights with staff in the bar (fist fights between Bar Manager and Bar Staff), Pool attendants were next to useless, all having a laugh with each other and not paying attention at all to the pool area, strong smell of drains all over the hotel and especially in your room toilet (you need to shut the toilet door or the whole room stinks). Showers that dont work, toilets that when flushed cover the floor with water and waste, handrails in bathrooms that falls off walls, mirrors in rooms that you cannot see into because of the huge lights at either side (unbelievable) heated clothes rails that dont work as the plug to plug them in is situated on the other side of the room!!, room phones that have no instructions (no way you can call other rooms or reception). If we had booked in for 2 weeks, we would have gone home early even if it meant paying for the flights ourselves. I could go on forever, If I was to rate this hotel I would give it 1/10 at the most due to the nice pool area, however it may take you about an hour to get into the pool as the water is very very cold....brrrrr! If you want my advice-dont go!!! I will be calling Barcelo and First Choice for compensation for this absolute disaster of a holiday
holiday from hell
party of 8 2003 on arrival at the Saturn hotel the reception area although poorly lite my first impression was apprehension staff seemed ok!!! then We entered our rooms they were dull and filthy we immedietly requested different accomodation thats when the staff had difficulty understanding english eventually we spoke to the rep for bulkan holiday's sorry she said unless we cough up a further approx £350 what a con We were not prepared to pay a further £350 and asked for the rooms to be cleaned she said she would arrange this.you guessed it we could not get a hold of her niether could the other guest with the same complaint who had also just arrived .our whole holiday was ruined the staff were not friendlyentertainment WHERE there was one musician who performed for the kids afterwords he came round with a hat for payment from the guests.food iether burnt or undercooked holiday from HELL defenitely not recommended.all the guests were glad to leave.
