Hotel Komodor

We have just spent a week at this hotel and came away very happy, despite reservations after reading a couple of the posts. The staff - front office, reception and dining room, were all really friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is small but perfectly adequate and the pool area is a bit sterile, being next to a busyish road, but provided a relaxing and enjoyable sun bathing experience. Stayed in the Hotel Komodor for two weeks during July and August 2007 with my wife and 7 year old daughter. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed with free air conditioning. The Hotel had a smallish pool that was ideal for our 7 year old. It was kept clean and in good order. The hotel staff were efficient and courteous at all times and friendly too. We stayed at the Komodor in July 2007, our room on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the stunning Lapad bay was well worth paying a little extra for. We went half board and there was an excellent varied choice of buffet style fresh food available for breakfast and evening meals. All the staff at the hotel are really friendly and only too willing to help with anything. There are Lots of Restaurants and shops within a short distance of the hotel. Very dissappointing Hotel. Yes the room had been refurbished but the bathrooms were small and horrible. The swimming pool was too cold to use. The staff with the exception of the cleaners were unfriendly.

We have just returned from a two week holiday in Dubrovnik . The Komodor is a small comfortable hotel. The staff are very friendly. The food which was buffet style was generally good with plenty of variety. The Komodor is close to a small pebbly beach and on the bus route to Dubrovnik. A very enjoyable holiday.

We booked the hotel because the description of 'small, friendly. family run' sounded great. But the reality was just the opposite. We had booked half board (DBB) but only ate the first night in the 'restaurant' which was like a works canteen. Very poor menu, eg overcooked poor quality steak, uneatable fish, stale bread, overcooked vegetables. Breakfast even worse; fresh fruit was half a banana or remnants of diced tinned fruit. I have just returned from a week at the Hotel Komador with 3 friends. The hotel is in a good position, close to restaurants, the local bus and beaches. The staff are VERY helpful and friendly We were given lots of information about ways of seeing the area independently and much more inexpensively The rooms are smallish-- twin beds take up most of the floor space but there is plenty of storage and the bathroom is fine ( although the towels are tiny) The hotel is spotlessly clean. Visited this hotel in April 2006 with my mother and quite a large group of people. The staff in the hotel were very nice and helpful. The hotel was clean and adequate but it had some nice rooms and some awful rooms. Make sure and ask for the third floor with both sea view and pool view. Food was edible but hotel found it difficul to cope with such a large group of people to be fed all at once. I just returned from a lovely stay at Hotel Komodor in Dubrovnik. First of all, I agree that the room had a lot to do with the quality of my experience. We were on the top (third floor) with a view of the sea. I was thrilled! It was a beautiful view and our small terrace had a table and chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view. When I was shown to my room after arriving late at night, I went into an immediate depression. The room was absolutely tiny (admittedly I did book a single) and resembled a prison cell. The window was so high up the wall that I couldn't reach it and I'm 6ft. The shower room was also tiny and the shower very flimsy. When I complained the next day, they moved me to a much nicer room on the top floor which had a niceish view.
