More Traveller Reviews of Royal Esplanade Hotel
Winter Sojourn in Diano
from Mercury75
Spent 5 nights at Hotel Royal Esplanade recently. I travelled with Skills a Nottingham (UK) based travel company. Very impressed with location of hotel, near to beach and town centre, 10 minute walk to train station. Leisurely walk to Cervo along the beach, takes about one hour to walk to the top of Cervo village, a welcome Bar at the summit! Yes, the Hotel might be in need of a bit of refurbishment, but, big plus, is it is spotlessly clean; I did half board, the food, an Italian menu and varied; bar well stocked and evening entertainment if you want it. The Reception team are very accommodating and speak fluent English, and they answer a plethora of queries. The rest of the hotel staff are eager to please and are very willing. My room was a single room with a comfortable bed and very effiicent shower in the bathroom, and an Italian TV. The days were pleasently warm, but evenings cold, and the central heating was working very well. If you can't live without the BBC an English TV was avaliable in the annexe to the main lounge. The people factor in this hotel would encourage me to go back again. Generally in Diano Marina the locals were very friendly and helpful if you got stuck. Overall my stay at the Royal Esplanade was a very warming experience and I would recommend people to stay there.
excellent food and hospitality
from holidaytravellers
The Hotel offered a wide choice of excellent food, with themed nights including candlelit dinner, gala dinner, and desserts by the pool with free glasses of wine. The hospitality from the owners the Rossi family was second to none and all english speaking giving reassurance if you ever needed them. Diano Marina is a quiet sea side resort and appealing to me and my family as is it has not become commercial and is mainly visited by the friendly italian people Places to visit for the day include Monaco, Nice, Cannes, Milan San Remo, all accessible by bus or train or local travel agents offer coach excursions. I will definately return again next yeaer
Nice Hotel
from johnandann
The Royal Esplanade we first visited this hotel on a coach holiday, we enjoyed the hotel but hated that coach. The hotel is well located the staff very friendly the rooms simple and clean , breakfast is is very good and better than the average three star continental, dinner is typical of the region and very good.(but if you are expecting the chicken and chips version go to Spain). This coast is well served for transport inparticular the train service on this coast is excellent. We fly to Nice(France) pick up our hire car then 90 min drive down the coast to Diana marina its simple.
Friendly and welcoming hotel

We spent six days at the Royal Esplanade Hotel in Diano Marina, which is well-positioned in a quiet street, close to the town centre and beaches. The pool is large and clean; the breakfasts were good and the staff were helpful and welcoming. The hotel had a family atmosphere - there were lots of Italian families staying there, several generations in some cases. It is a hotel we would happily return to.
Cannot Wait to Return
from holidaytravellers
We have just returned from this excellent hotel. The food was very good and varied, the staff very hospitable with themed nights including candle-lit dinner, local wine tasting, olive sampling, and a band on one evening. A real sample of Italy. The hotel is family run and also English speaking and we would recommend you try this hotel if you are visiting this beautiful area.
We will not return!

Stayed at this hotel on bed, breakfast and evening meal basis , as part of a package . The hotel is very tired generally and in need of refurbishment. Room a good size. Bed hard and lumpy. Bathroom left a lot to be disired. On a arrival there was a soiled something on the bathroom floor which stayed there for 3 days! Bidet looked as though it hadn't been wiped for weeks. Breakfasts were poor and dinners were worse - Iv'e seen school meals presented better than these!. Didn't find the staff over friendly. Certainly wouldn't return!!
Go elsewhere

If you like small rooms, thin towels, damp walls, this is the place to stay. If you like food slopped onto your plate, undercooked pasta, quiche in the style of scrambled egg, eat here. This is a tired hotel, understaffed, poorly maintained and it shows. Mealtimes were overcrowded with the waiters rushed to serve out and plate meals. Our coach party was glad to leave.
Never again
from eicheff
We were on 4th floor in the smallest room possible - the verandah was enclosed by concrete because it was in the roof- made "private" by garden fencing The lift only went to the 3rd floor which is not specified in any brochure . Very little storage space - namely 2 little bedside chests and a wardrobe with 2 drawers ( and if you opened one the other one opened as well) Breakfast buffet was very basic - I only had the chance of fruit one morning out of six and most mornings had breakfast before 8am
small rooms, no AC, great pool and breakfast
from boonyc
Small room with NO AC, which was intolerable in July. We asked for a fan, but did not receive it. Room was very clean, though, staff friendly, and breakfast was fantastic. The pool is lovely and big and includes a separate lane for laps which was great. Beware though - the hotel makes you buy/bring your own towel to the pool, does not allow you to use hotel towels at the pool, which we found strange and annoying. Great location, near to town centre and along a lovely avenue.
Bathroom and bedroom ?? aaaarrgh!!!
from badger856
This hotel appeared to be very nice on arrival. Reception was clean and we were welcomed. However, when we got to the bedroom it was very dated and in need of decoration and some upgrading. When we saw the bathroom we were disappointed as the bath was an old one that had been painted inside and the paint was peeling off!! Also, whilst we were unable to take a shower (no enclosure) we were unable to switch the water supply to the taps and had to fill the bath through the shower head !!! The bathroom was ancient and desperately needed updating. On a positive note, the restaurant was welcoming and the staff very helpful. The meals were varied and well prepared.
