Royal Esplanade Hotel

This Hotel is in a good location near the centre of the resort but that’s about the only positive. It has a 'run down' and 'tired' feel about it, with a noisy railway line running adjacent to the rear of the hotel. The pool area needs a complete overhaul, (lots of weeds ,and the sun beds looked as if they hadn’t been hosed down for weeks), although the pool is large it is unheated, and extremely cold.
The rooms are basic (ours had less than standard size single beds) and the bathroom had lots of chipped and cracked tiles, with a poor standard of overall cleanliness (i.e. the shower head was held together with selotape). The food was uninspiring and bland, and a vegetarians nightmare (unless you are happy with omelettes every evening for dinner).
The attitude and friendliness of some of the staff left a lot to be desired, which resulted in poor service provision.(It took us over half an hour to order a bottle of wine with dinner as we were told in no uncertain terms to wait by a very rude waiter) Avoid at all costs, you can get far better hotels in the resort as I found after making several enquiries.
