More Traveller Reviews of Confortel Fuengirola Hotel
Best of a bad bunch
from Sackville
I have to say I'm still in shock and can't think why on earth I even agreed to go to Fuengirola but that said I did ,but I have to say "never again". The Hotel is OK but given that this is a typical resort that is more geared up to attracting cut-price package holiday makers from the UK & Germany, don't set your sights too high. I had gone for a 'Junior Suite' (there are only 4 and the rooms are not much bigger than the other sea-facing balcony rooms). On arrival I found the room totally infested by ants (100's of them!) and (as it was late) there was no one who could sort the problem out short of 'torching' the room to kill them all. As the property was nearly full I was given a rear facing room with twin beds for the night and the ants were given the 'run' of the Junior Suite! In fairness to the hotel managerment, they did their best to recover from this dreadful first impression and the Hotel manager did her utmost to make sure that the rest of my stay was OK. But it is still a package holiday destination and a fair 3/4 star property with few frills. Don't go with high expectations and you'll be fine. But if I was to give any advice - based on my experience of the resort as a whole - I'd say "Don't go at all" ! Give Fuengirola a wide berth and chose somewhere nicer. - But each to their own. PS The pool is not at all big and in shade by early afternoon but the beach is just across the road. Water quality in the sea was very poor so didn't feel like risking it.
Excellent Hotel

Just came back from a five day break at the confortel, general quality of the hotel was high, food was excellent, rooms spacious and well maintained. Fuengirola very disappointing "Little Britain" but if you like that sort of thing the confortel would be an excellent choice. Not recommended for families Watch out for the street sellers, 25 in the time it took me to drink a pint.
Disabaled point of view

We took our disabled Grand Daughter here on holiday for 12 days The Hotel Excellent is in every way, especially for the price I read the repots on surly staff & poor food, not in our case at all Food was almost as good as any Platimum we have been to ourselves, we were really suprised The staff could not of been more helpful or pleasant Sheets & towels changed twice a week The area is flat & very pleasant, the usual looky looky men, but hey! thats not a problem at any time. Only one time share seller as well Various cafes & bars, but not a great deal in the way of nightlife, it is quite peaceful area. But there are many bars in the streets behind the hotel The only warning, there is only one taxi capable of taking an electric wheel chair & that did cause us some problems, especially getting back from other areas The man to contact is Carlos Romanos, great service, just ask for him through the taxi company, or look for his moble number, the hotel should have it We could not of met a nicer man.Holiday taxis com mixed up a few times, but it was sorted in the end, One reason to learn a bit spanish!! Tourist information was very hard to come by for wheel chair users, they could not help with many details The train is supposed to have disabled ramps, but only at some stations, so try to check , its not easy Visit the zoo & Sea life [Belamadena ] a few miles away, .not like any zoo. birds walk around your feet in one bit It is well worth its 4 star rating, i have been in many 4 stars that lack much this hotel does We did not use the pool . to cold , but there is a disabled hoist, it does however only get the sun until around 2.00 pm All in all a great experience & wonderful hotel
A WHEELIE great Hotel

Confortel, Fuengirola, Costa Del Sol, Spain is part of the http://www.confortelhoteles.com/flash/english/index.php with a very polite and welcoming feel to it. I stayed at this, very impressive, 4-star, hotel, during 4th – 11th March 2007, I would go back, with NO hesitation. It has only been open for 2 years, standards are very high, with attention paid to cater for customers with a disability. The hotel has, mostly (marble) tile floors (or short pile carpet, in other areas). It has 15 floors, 180 rooms (14 specially adapted) 3 lifts (room for 1 wheelchair plus 3 people). Underground car park, with Lift to - Ground floor – reception, lobby, bar/TV room. First floor – dining room (buffet service, plenty of staff to assist) outstanding choice of food. Second floor – Pool area (with wheelchair hoist) (note pool in shade after 1.30 pm) Rest of floors – rooms. South facing rooms have balcony, North facing rooms have large windows looking over the town. During my stay I viewed the Accessible rooms, all en-suite, roll in shower (with chair and room for carer) grab rails, basin at a suitable height, wide doors, room large enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair. I stayed in a (regular) South facing room, with balcony (a 7 by 6 inch step, through the patio door). All rooms are en-suite, over bath-shower, twin beds plus a sofa bed, wardrobe, safety box, colour- remote control TV, telephone, fridge, air conditioning. I would recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility problems, especially as I met another customer, with a motorised chair, who had been here for 6 months, and was very pleased with his stay. Just fabulous!!

We are regular visitors to Los Boliches and and had watched the progression of the hotel being built. We had a week in January 07 just to chill out after a few difficult months. We were not disappointed. This hotel has the ultimate chill factor. Spotlessly clean, beautiful rooms, excellent sea view, polite helpful staff and wonderful food. We like to be out and about in the area during the day, but the joy of the hotel was the peace that existed within. We will be returning very soon!
Great Hotel - shame about the food!!

My husband and I booked this hotel for a winter break to get away from the doom & gloom of the British weather. The resort had been recommended by a friend as it has plenty of bars, restaurants, attractions, etc. which is what you need at a time of year when you don't expect to rely on the weather as with a summer holiday. Although we were extremely lucky with the weather as it was 20ish degrees and sunny every day, perfect for a spot of sunbathing. We arrived at the hotel on New Year's eve late afternoon. We were allocated a room on the 9th floor with a fantastic view of the pool, beach and sea. We did not pay any extra for our room and realised that the hotel give you the best room available when you arrive! Fantastic. The rooms are very well decorated with plenty of furniture, a very spacious bathroom, minibar, etc. The rooms are totally spotless and cleaned everyday!! However, the food offered for the evening meal buffet was apalling. Some of the choices were so obviously left overs from breakfast regenarated in someway i.e. scrambled eggs with asparagus! And any of the choices for the evening meal that were meant to be hot weren't! I'm not going to go on about the food in any great detail other than to say out of the 7 nights we were there we ate out for 3, which you do not expect to have to do what you've booked on a half board basis. Confortel, you have the facitlities of a great hotel but your food standards are letting you down drastically. If you are looking at booking a stay here, unless you read some reviews to say the food situation has improved, then book only a bed & breakfast basis as they are plenty of places to eat out and about. One last thing the hotel prices for drinks are very expensive, double the prices of any of the bars in the immediate vicinity but that's just typical hotels trying to cash in!
great hotel great price Rae and Lorraine Poole Dorset

If you want a really good quality hotel at a great price book this hotel. We wanted a late holiday this year and came across this hotel through the thompson site the price was so good we thought there must be a catch!! !! £199 for a week half board .the hotel is situated on the better part of Fuengirola 20 metres from the sea and about ten minutes walk from the town centre. The room was quite large and was very clean and tidy with a nice size balcony maid service everyday. The food seemed to be a bit of the same each day but we did seem to find something to our taste at every sitting. Most of the staff are very friendly and willing to help apart from a few of the waiters who seem to look after the spanish guests before anyone else. The bar prices are a bit steep in the hotel but the hotel is right on the strip so your choice of cafes and bars is very good .try the fish restaurant across the road from the hotel nice friendly staff. There are some bars in the streets behind the hotel along with shops and a couple of supermarkets .We didnt hire a car but this was no real problem as most of the resort is within walking distance including the zoo wihich is well worth a visit .not like any zoo you have been too .If you want to book any trips try the shop just down from the hotel half the price of the reps tours and still picked up from outside the hotel .If you want a nice day out hop on the bus and visit Belamadena harbour well worth it only 1.50 euros All in all this hotel is up to its 4star rating and well worth a visit
really pleased with this hotel
from giraffe52
we booked this hotel through 'first choice' web site and were really pleased we did. it was clean, comfortable and the food was excellent. the staff are very friendly and helpful. there is plenty of bars and resturants close by but after eating in the buffet style resturant at the hotel you will not need to eat out . there was so much choice of food that you would not go hungry. we paid extra at time of booking for a seaview room. the room we were allocated was on the corner of the building so we also had a view of the mountains. the hotel is just across the road from the beach so you get the choice of sitting by the pool or the beach. it is just a minutes walk from the railway station but you cannot hear any trains from the hotel. we will definately stay here again and highly reccomend it.
Fantastic hotel especially for wheelchair

Amazing hotel of the best quality. The hotel was brand new in 2004 / 2005 i think even the taxi driver was unsure of it. The room was lovely with great air con. The food was superb. The location was great. Will go back for sure
From a wheelchair users point of view..
from beula46
I am a wheelchair / scooter user, I can walk a few steps holding onto the wall. We only went to Malaga for four nights, just a quick break. We wanted something that wasn't up a steep hill or way out of the centre.. this hotel was perfect for us. Not far from the airport, the slight problem of finding a taxi that I could put my battery scooter into the back of........ but no worries, we found an estate car. On first impressions, the hotel looks a bit like a block of flats, if you didn't know it was there you might just walk straight past it. The reception is well staffed with helpful receptionists, there is a lower counter that you can see over if you are in a wheelchair. The lifts are good, no problems. We had initially booked a 'disabled' room at the back of the hotel and when the receptionist offered us a room with a seaview we thought we would see if I could cope in it.. It was great, we were on the eighth floor with a fabulous view of the sea and the bay. The bathroom was spacious, the shower was in the bath, I thought this would have been a problem but it was fine because there was a wall that I could hold onto when I was climbing in.. the shower was fantastic, great pressure. The room itself was smashing, two comfortable single beds put together and space to turn my scooter around. I charged it overnight in the room. The balcony is lovely, not accessible by wheelchair because of the slight lip on the door edge. I managed to step over it quite easily. The location of the hotel could not have been better for us, we didn't do much exploring because we were only there for a short break but we spent most afternoons on the beach. The access is superb, the area leading up to the sunbeds has a paved area. There are cafes all the way along the beach too, great for the Sangria.. The promenade is perfect, nice and level and goes for miles in each direction. We covered quite a distance each day...! We didn't realise but there was a disabled service just up the beach from the hotel where you can sit on a buggy type vehicle and be taken into the sea. I wish we had found it because the temperature while we were there was in the 80's. No worries, we were chilled out with the Sangria and the fabulous resturants, we found a great one right outside our hotel. As you walk out of the front of the hotel, it is in the square on the left on the other side of the road. The food is superb and the service is very good with 'down to earth' prices. The breakfasts at the hotel were very good, we were 'positioned' each morning near the door and the food, which was very helpful. The swimming pool is adequate, there was even a hoist for disabled customers. We had no problem getting a sunbed, they are a bit close together but it was ok. The pool is clean and accessible with the ladder steps if you do not need the hoist, it is not possible to wade in gradually. The facilities are excellent, there is a disabled toilet and shower with changing room at the pool side. It's true, there isn't much sun on the pool area after 1pm but it was still a lovely warm place to relax. The hotel had a bar, but we didn't go into it. I felt rotten to say it but it was totally devoid of any character, it looked a bit like a clinic waiting area. It was such a pity because the chap that was playing the piano in there and singing was very good but the place was empty. Everyone was outside on the tables in front of the hotel. The prices were competitive with all the other bars. Everything was clean and functional, overall it was an brilliant choice of hotel. We would definitely go there again.

On the plus side my disabled partner and I found this aparthotel good value, central, clean, good access for wheelchairs on entry and in lifts, lovely view and staff helpful overall. On the minus side - we found it very surprising that there were no tea/coffee making... more
