On the plus side my disabled partner and I found this aparthotel good value, central, clean, good access for wheelchairs on entry and in lifts, lovely view and staff helpful overall.
On the minus side - we found it very surprising that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the apartment which we have never encountered before.
Room - comfortable and clean but all the rooms including disabled had a step to the balcony which meant my partner did not have access to enjoy the view. Also the air conditioning was not working.
Pool - as with other reviews I have read, the sun disappears at about 1.30pm and the pool is not very child friendly.
Restaurant - we felt that there were too many tables for the size of room and trying to manoeuvre a wheelchair around could be difficult. The variety and quality of food was fairly good on the whole (not if you're a vegetarian!) but ranged from luke-warm to cold. On one occasion when I said this to a waiter I was shown the microwave! I also noticed as have others that some of the food displayed in the evenings looked as if it had been recycled from breakfast. The restaurant would benefit from more than one extremely slow toaster.
Entertainment - none whatsoever which was disappointing.
Overall- an ok place to stay if you want a 'quiet' break. More geared up for Spanish tourists and short stay business people. The chef appeared to have had quite a few relatives staying whilst we were there and I met a young couple who were turned away from the restaurant on more than one occasion and told to come back in an hour because the chef's relatives were eating. Quite a few of us noticed that when these relatives left the quality of the food went downhill?
I would rate Confortel as a 3*** not a 4****

Superb hotel, our first time at the Costa del Sol. Very impressed with the beach. Lovely and clean.
Hotel spotless, very friendly.
Food good with a good variety of dishes.
Will definitely go back.
Not much in house entertainment but surrounding area buzzing. Have it as noisy or quiet as you like.

This hotel has a very polite and welcoming feel to it. I stayed at this, very impressive, 4-star hotel during 4th – 11th March 2007.
I would go back, with no hesitation.
It has only been open for 2 years; standards are very high, with attention paid to cater for customers with a disability.
The hotel has, mostly marble tile floors or short pile carpet, in other areas. It has 15 floors, 180 rooms (14 specially adapted) 3 lifts (room for 1 wheelchair plus 3 people).
Underground car park, with Lift to -Ground floor – reception, lobby, bar/TV room.
First floor – dining room, buffet service, plenty of staff to assist, outstanding choice of food.
Second floor – Pool area with wheelchair hoist. Note pool in shade after 1.30 pm.
Rest of floors – rooms. South facing rooms have balcony, North facing rooms have large windows looking over the town.
During my stay I viewed the Accessible rooms, all en-suite, roll in shower (with chair and room for carer) grab rails, basin at a suitable height, wide doors, room large enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair.
I stayed in a regular South facing room, with balcony (a 7 by 6 inch step, through the patio door).
All rooms are en-suite, over bath-shower, twin beds plus a sofa bed, wardrobe, safety box, colour- remote control TV, telephone, fridge, air conditioning.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility problems, especially as I met another customer, with a motorised chair, who had been here for 6 months, and was very pleased with his stay.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel and found it to be exactly what we required. The hotel staff could not do enough for us and were all incredibly polite with an excellent understanding of English (which is always a bonus).
The room was superb with a stunning view. Bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom had all you could ask for down to toothbrushes, shower gel and a hair dryer (which actually worked properly), we had a double bed, sofa, TV and Balcony and the view was to die for when the sun was setting or rising.
The location to the beach was more than we could ask for and the choice to eat was fantastic, the hotel breakfast had a lot more choice than I thought it would and catered for absolutely everyone - food ranged from fresh fruit to cereal to bacon, eggs and sausages.
If you want to travel into Puerto Banus then be warned it is going to cost about €45-50 each way as it’s a 35min journey.
The only down side to the hotel was the swimming pool, it was absolutely lovely but by 1.30pm was totally covered over in shade because of its position. We spent most of our time at the beach.
Overall a very nice and relaxing holiday with fine wine and nice food. Would definitely go back to this hotel either with my partner or with a few friends. It is ideal for couples with young children or simply to get away and relax but don’t expect to be up all night dancing away because it isn’t that type of resort (Puerto Banus is!).

Wow! Fantastic location directly opposite a beautiful beach in the Los Boliches area. The hotel is quite new so bar, lounge, restaurant and rooms all very clean and modern. Staff were friendly at reception but in the restaurant they did not spend more than a few seconds with you unless you were Spanish! In fact we only came across one other English couple during our stay so you need to be sure you have a week or twos conversation stored up.
Rooms had air con which we were very grateful for, they were of a good standard and cleaned every day. The pool was very disappointing as it had very little space for sun beds and was in the shade from 1.30 onwards also nowhere to buy a drink as it was on the 3rd floor! The beach more than made up for this for us but if you like to socialise eat and drink by the pool...forget it!
The restaurant had a good selection of food throughout our stay but it was only ever warm unless you were fortunate enough to get something from the griddle and the waiters were all very solemn and formal. The bar was open until 2.00am but was very expensive and again lacked in atmosphere.
The main nightlife was only a 10 minute walk away with a fantastic selection of bars restaurants and clubs with the luxury of peace and quiet on you return. The train station is behind the hotel and offers a half hourly on time service along the coast for a couple of euros.
Well worth visiting Marbella, Puerto Banus and Gibraltar from here for a pleasant change of scenery.
I would strongly recommend this as an adults only hotel and would certainly go again as overall everything added up to this being a great place to stay.

Aug 2006, Mrs I Duffy

The bedrooms were nice and clean as the maids were there daily. The pool was disappointing as the sun went away from 1.30pm and there was no snack bar and certainly no atmosphere.
Everybody wore black for their uniform, the dining room was bright and staff were helpful but the hot food was cold, we had to dine out every second night which we did not budget for.
We didn't have a drink in the lobby lounge simply because there was never anybody in it. Mostly for the Spanish I think. Very disappointing.

The location of this hotel is superb. Beach front in the Los Boliches area of Fuengirola which is in the middle of Fuengirola promenade. Its about a 20 minute walk in to the main area of Fuengirola where all the shops are. If you're feeling lazy the train station is right behind the hotel and you can catch the train into town or any of the other resorts along the coast.
The trains run every half hour and put our service to shame. They're cheap clean and on time. The only word of warning is that some of the stations are not very wheelchair or buggy friendly with some steep ramps and not always a lift!
The food is slightly better than most of the half board or All Inclusive places we've stayed at. Still the usual selection of salads soup, cold meats and then various fish and meat dishes. As usual its not exactly piping hot though. The fresh cooked food on the griddle is the best bet. The hotel itself is clean and tidy as its only about 2 years old but it is very business like. We stayed with our 9 year old son and 11 month old daughter.
The pool area is the main let down. No kids pool, its very slippery around the edges and the whole of the pool area is in shade by about 2.30pm.This hotel is mainly aimed at short stay business people by the looks of things, kind of a Holiday Inn type chain. We were given lots of dirty looks by various people when our daughter made any noise in the restaurant and our son wasn't exactly welcomed in the pool with his lilo!! Overall an adults only hotel
Excellent to use as a base to explore the surrounding areas and not one for pool lovers!

Absolutely loved this hotel! Me and my boyfriend went for 2 weeks, and this was the best holiday we have had together! We got a really good deal off Thomas Cook online, paying about £840 altogether for 2 weeks in this great 4* hotel, including transfers. The staff are really friendly, and were always on call to help you out. in the middle of the holiday we had to ask the receptionist how to get to the local hospital as I had developed a really bad rash, a reaction from the sun, and she called a local GP who came to our room, and we were really impressed.
Being across the road from the beach was really good, and we spent most of the time relaxing on it. The main bars and restaurants are about a 10 min walk up the road, but are differently worth a look. The types of restaurants are all very varied, and there are so many to choose from! There is also a great ice cream parlour which we visited pretty much every night on r walk back to the hotel at about 12am! Can’t remember the name, but is run by a very nice lady.
We only had breakfast at the hotel, but this was very nice, and there are loads of staff to help you out if you needed anything. You need to get there nice an early though as it gets very busy and you'll be queuing for a table otherwise.
The pool isn’t very big, but is very clean. It’s best to go there late afternoons when it’s a bit quieter.
A lot of the guests are Spanish, which is a really good sign of the hotels quality. Although all the staff speak very good English, they really appreciate when you try to speak Spanish to them!
We are differently considering going to the resort again, and would love to go back to confortel! However the prices seem to have gone up about double what we paid last year, so being a student I can’t really afford it :( although would definitely recommend it!
