We had booked a one bed roomed apartment for our nine night stay and upon arrival were told we had been given a three bed roomed apartment for the same price - what a bonus! Two bathrooms, one en suite and a huge private terrace with great views over the town and out to... more

We have stayed in The Capistrano Oasis for 4 years running and loved them every time. They are away from the town, and its all uphill, so its not suitable for people with walking difficulties. The pool area is kept in immaculate condition, and very peaceful to sit around... more

Beautiful, quiet and relaxing
Rented a maisonette for 1 week in El Capistrano through owner-direct. Beautiful old-style village appearance and atmosphere. The whole complex has great character with well-cared for gardens/surroundings. Pool areas peaceful, clean and attractive. Would definitely recommend staying here if you want a relaxing, quiet time. As its on a steep hill, walking down to town and beaches not a problem, but walking back up after a good night out is a bit 'challenging'!!! The Cave bar on-site also good for a night-cap - not rip-off prices. Thoroughly enjoyed!!
Total Relaxation
Just returned from El Capistrano Village after a week's stay with 2 of my best friends. We had a 2 bedroom villa which was excellent. Had 2 bathrooms (a very nice surprise) and a brilliant sun terrace overlooking the sea. The complex itself is maintained brilliantly. Pool great, and you'll love the Cave bar! We ate in the restaurant 1 night and it was great food at a good price. We found all the staff very friendly and they were helpful throughout the stay. One thing to bear in mind, you need to take your own towels to reception to be changed, but bearing in mind we paid so little for the holiday, this was fine. The supermarket on site was good - had fresh bread every day and even fresh fruit and veg. If you want a bigger selection there is a SuperSol just down the road. The great bonus was that the "urbano bus" stop was on the road in the middle of the resort, with an hourly bus (apart from siesta!) right in to the middle of Nerja for just 1 Euro. Would highly recommend this resort. Great quiet base, especially suited to couples and families, due to good facilities. Will definitely be returning.
wonderful
I know my reviewis a little late. When we syaed the weather was terrible but we still had such a nice time. Lovely big apartment. Great view from Kitchen, you could see Morocco on the odd clear morning. Highly reommend it.
comfortable, spacious, nice environment
Booked a 2-bedroom apartment through a property agent in Nerja. Spent a week in apartment no. 15. It was spacious, well-furnished and clean, lacking only a coffee-maker. The large terrace of the apartment overlooked the 3 communal pools, which were of a good size, clean, and well-maintained. The gardens around the apartments are excellent and the overall atmosphere is of a well-established residential area largely occupied by British, German and Scandinavian ex-pats, though there are also quite a few Spanish people living there too. Age group predominantly 50+ though also families with kids. In late Sept it was fairly quiet. Nerja is a pleasant town, with plenty of restaurants (and excellent tapa restaurant next to the church) and the beaches were OK though not a patch on here in the north-west of Ireland:-) Weather was excellent and climate in this area very pleasant in Sept. The nearby 'white villages' of Torrox, Frijilliana &c well worth visiting and can be accessed by bus or taxi. Good walking in the hills above the coast, for example from the village of Maro which is a few km from Nerja. Would recommend El Capistrano based on our experience.
Absolutely fab
Twelve sunny, wonderful (and very hot!) days in El Capistrano village, first time ever booking holiday privately, but it will not be the last! The village was beautiful and well maintained. And the pools fantastic. The villa itself we had (2-bed) was pretty basic, but quite adequate for our family (five of us, three small kids), the small garden with lemon and olive trees was an added bonus! The town of Nerja was very pleasant with fantastic views from the balcony, we found some fantastic restaurants by the Burriana beach. We also visited the nearby waterpark in Velez-Malaga, which wasn't huge but pretty good otherwise, also for smaller ones. And the shopping centre opposite was quite good too! The must of course is the caves, quite a short visit, but you have to see it! Only a couple of downsides: Burriana beach was a bit disappointing, not as sandy and not as childfriendly as we would have hoped and apart from the pools in the village and a few playgrounds here and there there wasn't much to do for smaller kids (under tens). Or maybe we just didn't look from the right places??? Not that we didn't find the place and the people childfriendly, quite the opposite. But every place has its downsides I suppose... But all in all, I think we made the most of the journey and enjoyed it very much and would defenitely recommend it for people who want to see a bit more than the pool and the bar, we might even return there one day.
Beautiful villagel
Magnificent flowers. Very clean, accommodation was very good, well equipped, great terrace for sunbathing. You need a car, but Nerja is lovely, great restaurants at good prices, will be going again.
Visit at anytime
Allowing for the fact that your offspring do not always have the same opinion or views on most matters, we travelled to Nerja on the advice of our teenage son. What a delight! No high rise that is associated with other resorts on the Costa Del Sol. Very few areas that 'Boom Boom' the nights away and an abundance of food and drinking places set within typical Spanish surroundings against a mountain backdrop and spectacular views of the Mediterranean from the famous 'Balcony of Europe'. The people are friendly and inviting, the beaches are wonderful, especially 'Burriana Beach' long and sandy with fantastic restaurants and fish dishes. The area is superb and Capistrano is a glorious 'Village' urbanistaion set slightly uphill altough it can be forgiven for the 'return walk' at the end of the day or evening. In fact our first trip was so good, not that we are easily impressed having lived for a number of years in the Mediteranean and Europe and taken numerous holidays around its perimeter, that we bought an apartment on 'Capistrano' village so that we can let our offspring and their offspring enjoy the place too. Andalucia region of Spain has many places of interest within easy reach including the Alhambra Palaces in Granada, Ronda, Seville, Gibraltar, North Africa, Caves of Nerja etc etc. Nearest airport is Malaga. Serviced by many UK low cost airlines. We encourage everone to pay at least one visit to Nerja. If you do decide to travel. email ----------------------------------- Ask for rates and availabilty for 92B Pueblo. Summer rates are Reasonable. Off Season rates are Great. Winter rates are Fantastic. You will love it ! Promise.
Not the Ritz, but pleasant
We found this place as a timeshare opportunity. We had no idea what to expect and since each apt is privately owned by someone (each is different), we knew it was a crapshoot. We rented a RCI property, Apt 9 from May 8-15. It was a 2 bed 2 bath (1 full size, the other twins). The beds were lousy. The furniture in general was tired. But overall, there was enough seats for all 4 of us, all the kitchen equipment we could imagine and the place was generally clean. We had a great view of the Mediterranean and a nice basically private backyard and porch. We spent quite a bit of time out there. We didn't utilize the pools because it wasn't that hot and it cost some money to rent chairs, etc. Instead we tanned and drank beer, soda and water at the apt. The Satellite TV had about 4 English channels, which we did watch some. The grocery store on site at the resort was more expensive than the SuperSol down the street from the resort. But overall the prices were reasonable. And in Granada we went in a "Walmart" style grocery store that was even more cheap. As for what we did, we bummed 4 days, took a trips to Gibraltar (did a 2 hour tour taxi), Granada (Alhambra Palace), and Nerja caves. We also drove around some smaller cities, but can't recall the names. The beach was really pretty far from the resort to walk. But you can easily drive down to the beach and enjoy beach loving with a really beautiful view of cliffs. There are many beachside restaurants in Nerja that were all good. The beer and wine is inexpensive and we enjoyed that! Also, the Italian place and the English place were really good. We kind of wish we had done a olive oil place to learn how they do that. There are tremendous amount of olive trees past Granada. If you have any questions, email me. See ya - Francesca
luxurious "millionaire style" holiday at el capistrano
we booked a holiday villa through linglyn travel on the web at the el capistrano. we booked a 3 bedroom villa which cost only £500 per week. flights were booked independantly and we hired cars - total cost only £1080 per family of 4 (2 families joined (8 people) . the villa was huge - it had lemon trees in the garden - beautiful furnishings - lovely surroundings. it puts package holidays to shame. you will need a car and its quite hilly - shared pools. bliss
Wheelers Holiday
We had a very good hoilday without the help from Thomsons or the people at the reception. If you like and enjoy a hoilday that you just use your room as a base this will be an excellant base for you. We spent very little time around the pool and in the bar that it did not make any differace to us what it was like. The pools were very clean and quiet. You have to pay for a sunbed each day if you want to use one. You also have to leave a deposit for a pool pass. The restraunt has some good meals on offer and not too expensive. The apartment was basic with Thomsons but if you rent one privately you will get more facilities e.g air conditioning which would have been useful. As the brochers say you will either need to have a car for your stay or not mind the 20 mins walk to the town or the beach, its the walk back up hill thats the problem from the beach. The buses are very cheap and worth a trip on. Also a taxi anywhere in Nerja is only 5 euros. Keep your money on you as we had our apartment broken in to and £10 was stolen but we also heard of a couple had £500 taken. We think that people with copy keys did it, so just be warned put your money in the safe or always take it out with you. Good food at the beach or in town not too expensive, but watch the muscles. The caves are worth a visit, also Fragilina on a Thurday for the market. You can get to both on the bus. Not too much to do for young teenagers if they dont mix. But on the whole a good holiday
