I was really looking forward to this...

Sep 2008, Mrs J Pritchard

I was really looking forward to this holiday as the reviews weren't too bad and it was rated as 4 star on teletext. However i was disapointed upon arrival this hotel is not a 4 star i would say it rates a 2 star. We arrived late at night and was taken to our room which was seperate for the main hotel. It wasn't nice it was tiny and dark and had the most awful brown bath and sink that looked really dirty. On closer inspection it wasn't it was just wear and tear marks, but not a pleasant sight.
We asked the next day to move rooms and I have to say it wasn't questioned at all we was told to ask the next day and it would be accomodated. We did move to the hotel part and the rooms were much better there; but he hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade.
We stayed All inclusive and we are not fussy eaters at all but I really struggled to eat the food offered here, it was not appealing to look at and didn't taste nice. We opted to eat out most nights, there was a great pitza place down the rd. I also struggled with the drinks and I really can dring anything but they didn't taste anything like they should. The pop was awful and the juice was watered down squash!
My apologies if you have already booked your holiday, jsut ask to stay in the main hotel and take some money for food, Rhodes is lovely so get out and about!
Wine and lemonade was ok though, although I was served it in a plastic cup and told they didn't have fresh glasses!!
I didn't find the staff very friendly they looked as though they didn't enjoy there job and they wasn't interested in the English at all, maybe because it was the end of the season who knows...
Me and my boyfriend have been to Egypy and I have to say would choose that destination anyday over this.

Aug 2008, Mr EH Hatherall

I arrived at this hotel with 7 other close friends of mine at around 6am on the 3rd august. First impressions of the hotel were good. the bathroom was clean and the room was smart and had a TV. However, this was soon to change! We had our first breakfast....and i have never had a worst breakfast in my life. the eggs tasted rotten and the bacon was horribly processed! the pool was a positive because it was big and relatively clean, however sunbeds was another major criticsm. On our second night we did not get back from faliraki until 5am and there were people coming out of their rooms to put towels on sunbeds to reserve them....which is just unacceptable. If there are not enough sunbeds then just buy some more. Also a close friend of mine lost his phone that was given to him by his parents and wen to reception to ask if it had been handed in....on the fourth night he got a reply from the receptionist saying 'f*** off, i am not talking to someone who asks stupid questions!' The staff are very rude and never ask you how you are or how ure day has been. They seem like they do not want to be there and on the last night when we began to write a review in the diary the receptionist started to say how he hated his job and thought the hotel was rubbish. The manager is an absolute idiot. He came into our room on our last day at 11:55 when we were all in bed and said 'you better not be late for registering out at 12:00 otherwise i will be charging you'! this hotel is a big NOOOOOOO! I also advise to go to Antonio's restaurant which is just opposite the hotel on the other side of the road which is run by a close family! There is also a good beach nearby! the more time you spend away from this hotel, the better!

Aug 2008, Mr R Treacy

i describe this hotel like faulty towers. worse holiday yet what a complete waste of money.food was rubbish no entertainment room was a bomb site. room had a cracked toilet seat, cracked tiles, flaking paint, hole at bottom of front door, light socket hanging off the wall bearing in mind i have a 4 year old child. also the rooms we saw advertised and booked was not the ones we got. there was no entertainment bar closed at 11 certain drinks such as malibo hainekan was not inclusive you had to pay for it. no water in rooms was surplied no pool side towels also there was not enough sun beds to go round the resort as people was having to lay on the floor.loads of people was being moved but this would of taken 3-4 days we was only there for 7 days.
stay well clear of this hotel.
only good thing about this whole holiday was the locals outside the resort are very very friendly.

Well, when we first arrived...
3 / 10
Aug 2008, Miss J Bishop

Well, when we first arrived everything was fine.
Our room was basic, no cooking or tea facilities(as we were all inclusive)
we were on the ground floor and the balcony looked out onto a muddy wasteland!
The pool was dirty with cockroaches in the guttering.
We spent most of our holiday in a boiling hot room, only to find out we had access to airconditioning(which noone told us about)
The all inclusive spirits were horrible and i ended up drinking beer all week.
But the worst thing was that no one bothered to mention that we had to be out of the room at 12pm when our flight wasnt until 5am the next morning, so the day before, we went to book a room for our last night and were told to come back in the morning(by a man who didnt seem to know what he was talking about)
when we returned the next day we were told that all the rooms were taken and that we should have enquried the previous night, which is frustrating because WE DID!
we ended up spending the last day sitting around with our suitcases and had to try and sleep in the lobby while there was loud music and people still 'enjoying there holiday'!
we were completely dismissed and noone seemed to care that we had nowhere to go!
I wasnt even that bothered about the state of the apartments, it just outraged me that the can just dismiss people like that!
If you havent already booked your holidays, pay more and go somewere else!
If you have already booked it, go with an open mind, as i didnt think it was as bad as some of the reviews i read, your experience might not be as bad as mine!

After reading the reviews, not only...

After reading the reviews, not only from this website, but from various others, I was incredibly apprehensive about actually getting on the plane and going to the hellhole that awaited us. We got off the plane, and got on the coach to the hotel by which time I was getting really nervous. We got to the hotel and our holiday began....
It was a fantastic holiday. We were informed by our holiday rep that hotel management had changed two years ago and the owner had been trying to turn the place around from the dive that it had previously been (as described in the reviews). This was the first year he had actually been able to make a difference.
If you are looking for a fancy, upmarket all inclusive holiday at a spa resort then this is not for you. However, we were a young couple (which given the reviews stating young couples should definitely not go) who were on a budget holiday, and we had a great time. The area the hotel is in is not actually central Kalithea, it is a small town outside called Koskinou. There is not a great deal to do of a night in the immediate vicinity, but we spent most nights in a cocktail bar across the road!!! However, if you want a bit more nightlife, then Rhodes Town and Faliraki were within reasonable distance (only 7 euros to Rhodes, and 10 to Faliraki) so if there is 2-4 of you it works out at about 2 quid each!!! If you want a little bit more of a quiet location, within walking distance to supermarkets and small touristy shops then it is perfect.
Now about the hotel. It was clean, tidy and the maid service was exceptional, all very helpful, happy and smiley, as were all the staff. Our bed was made every day and towels were changed every other day. The bar was good, staff were friendly, and on an all inclusive, free alcohol and ice cream was brilliant!! The pool was clean (even if a bit like a playschool with the amount of kids), and the surrounding area was secluded and cosy! Now we had better discuss the food which has been much debated in the reviews... Here are my recommendations with the food and the holiday:
1). The food is very nice, AS LONG as you are there for dinner at 6.30pm. If you want dinner later then food will be cold and it will be the worst parts of the meat that those who were there on time didnt want! We sussed this towards the end of the holiday, and the last three dinners we had when we were there on time (including the BBQ night, which was amazing) were excellent. So be there ON TIME.
2). The air conditioning is free when all inclusive, the only thing that is not included is the safety deposit box which costs 17 euros (bit of sly move on the hotels part) but not unreasonable.
3). If you want a sunbed for the day, then you need to be up around 7.30-8.00am to get one. That is the only part of the hotel that was a little bit of a letdown, the fact that there are not as many sunbeds as needed, especially if you are with a woman!! Lads, you know what i mean. Just make sure you are up on time and are punctual to meal times and you will have a great holiday.
4). Taxis. If you want one, MAKE SURE that you ask the price BEFORE you get in the taxi. A taxi to Rhodes town should be no more than 8 euros, MAX. The other point to watch out for is if you ask reception to order you a taxi, because they take commission!!! It can cost up to 14 euros for a taxi to Rhodes, if you order it from reception and if you do not ask prices before you get in the cab. Beware of this!
5). If you are with Olympic Holidays, whatever you do, make sure you go on the Jeep Safari that they organise, and if you can request the driver RAY, and tell him Vicky and Rob sent you!!! The safari is excellent, and his knowledge of the island and Greek culture is second to none. You get to see where the Med sea meets the Aegean Sea at the south of the island, have lunch on a private beach, go wine tasting and Souma tasting (52% alcohol content), and see some breathtaking views. Only 62 euros each (50 quid) and it will be such a worthwhile day.
6). Visit Rhodes Old Town!! Beautiful. Little side streets and alley ways of 'genuine fake' goods shops, as there are no copyright laws over there i.e Armani, Gucci, etc.
7). A friendly note about the Olympic trip to Turkey. Well organised trip, and is interesting to see the grand bazaar in Marmaris, and the turkish delight factory. However, if you do not want to be hounded by sellers and pressured to buy goods then it might not be for you. I was persuaded into a shop, and liked a pair of jeans (D&G 'genuine fake' jeans), and the seller tried to charge me 65 euros (almost 55-60 quid) for them. When i said 'no', he proceeded to shout and swear at me and my gf, and continued with obscenities as we left, making us feel quite uncomfortable and unsafe. Beware!
Those are my recommendations for Rhodes and the hotel, and as long as you stick to them then you will have a good time. Whether you are a young couple, family or single person then you will be fine, DO NOT pay attention to the DATED REVIEWS, because as mentioned, management has changed and so has the hotel. I have given all the helpful advice I can about the hotel, and a few money saving tips. I hope you do not turn away from the best cheap, all inclusive, sunny and activity filled holiday because of the older reviews because you will miss out!!! We paid just over 400 quid for the week and it was worth every penny. I have every intention to return! Have fun guys if you are headed for the hotel, and rest assured in the fact that it is nowhere near as bad as it is made out to be.

My husband and I have just arrived...

Jul 2008, Mrs H Holden

My husband and I have just arrived back from this hotel and to be honst I don't see why everyone is moaning! Yes the rooms are basic and the food isn't 5 star but neither is the hotel, if you want expensive rooms and food then book an expensive holiday!
The rooms and towels were cleaned dailey, the staff were really friendly and we really enjoyed our holiday.
In the 1st week there was a shortage of sunbeds but by the 2nd week more had arrived, and the weather couldnt have been better!
I'm a fussy eater but I always found something I could eat and my husband enjoyed the beer.
Lots of people there were moaning about everything but if you go with a negative attitude you will have a negative holiday, for the price of the holiday everything was fine for us and we met some great friends.
We are in our late 20s and there is no entertainment but Falaraki is 10 euros in a taxi for when we wanted to party, but the bar in the hotel was fine for the nights we just wanted to chat with everyone, the bar is free til 11pm.
Don't believe all the bad comments you read and make the most of it, some people want to pay very little for a holiday and expect the Ritz, we just steered clear of those miserable people cos they did our head in (You paid the same as us so come across all posh). Enjoy the sights of Rhodes, it's lovely.

Apr 2008, Mrs M Ely

my huband paid for myself ,my daughter and son in law and three grandchildren aged 6,12 and 14,to the kalithea sun and sky as a retirement gift for me.Big mistake,,the worst place we have ever been to.my 1 star rating is for the staff at this so run down place.I felt sorry for them having to listen to endless complaints from holidaymakers. The room for three of us was so small,in what we thought was a cell block, the bathroom was brown and dingy ,also the balcony was unsafe. You were lucky if you managed to get a sunbed round the pool, and half of these were broken. There is absolutely no entertainment for any of the children .Now the worst part of this place ,the restaurant!!!!!!!!!! THE FOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What can i say? IT IS DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!Believe me we really tried to make the most of it but in the end we ate all our meals out.Not a cheap option when you have paid over over £4000 for two weeks all-inclusive.We have been to Greece many times.also all-inclusive byt would never go back to this complex.PLEASE BE WARNED.

STEER CLEAR! 1.) Service - Friendly...

Oct 2007, Mr G Share

STEER CLEAR!
1.) Service - Friendly though nonchalant (couldn't care less). Arrived a day late due to the flight being delayed for 8 hours at 10 in the morning so had missed breakfast, no offer of anything else and needed to wait till lunch time.
2.) Cleanliness - Good, rooms cleaned well.
3.) Food - Absolutely nasty! Horrible! Terrible! I am not a queasy eater though some of that food I needed to steer clear from. Horrid!
4.) All inclusiveness – Minimal. Breakfast, lunch and dinner and that’s pretty much that. A few dry 3 day old pizza slices or dodgy biscuits at 10:30ish and in the afternoon. Weak beer, vinegar wine and cheap ouzo included.
5.) Entertainment - Bad! A Greek band who looked as though their mother had died and they had been dragged from her funeral to come and play for a bunch of tourists instead. Karaoke on the Saturday was......well....karaoke.
6.) Room - Kitted out in the early 70's and left that way since. No remote control for our TV. Reception for the one English channel (BBC News 24), 50 German Channels, 50 Greek Channels and half a French channel was pretty much non-existent. First time I have ever listened to a TV instead of watching.
7.) Pool - Pretty relaxing actually. Best part of the holiday. Just chilling by the pool. Thankfully sunny all week.
8.) Star rating - 3 stars I would not give this place. I have been to 3 star before and this is not a 3 star. Do they give 1 star ratings?
All in all, please don't go there unless you are into extreme sports called "guess the grub"!

We have just returned from our second...

Oct 2007, Mr Dave  Phelps

We have just returned from our second holiday in this hotel and are proposing to go again next year.
The rooms are basic but they are only for sleeping and showering when you have the Greek summers.
Staff were so friendly and when I ordered Champagne for our wedding anniversary we were spoilt rotten.
There were plenty of sunbeds and chairs around the pool and garden areas.
The food was good with plenty of variety and the wine, beer and water never stopped flowing and twice a week there was a barbecue.
My downside was that you can never get a decent cup of tea in the morning. We took a travel kettle this time & made our own.
A lovely quiet holiday with some evening entertainment.
