The island of Tinos is 30 minute ferry crossing from Mykonos, although our tour took us to Athens where we got the ferry. Not one of the high profile Greek Island that meant it was truly authentic. The food in the Tavernas is freshly prepared and the lovely beaches are uncrowded. We thought it was a jewel in the crown. We stayed at the Porto Tango Hotel in Agios Ionnis. 200 yards to the beach and wonderful views of the Aegean. The rooms are smashing with air conditioning and the hotel facilities include a swimming pool, tennis court and restaurant. It was a little more upmarket and expensive than we are usually used to, but well worth it. We felt pampered and the locals were ever so friendly. This was the "true" Greece.
