I spent a wonderful week in Olu Deniz. Everything was just perfect; weather, town, people, attractions. Everything... apart from hotel!
I read so many excellent reviews about Mellis Beach but to be honest this place disappointed me at all levels. We got a miserable room with no window or balcony - just the door! The bathroom was just disgusting.
The cleaning lady threw our staff away (on the last day she took our beach umbrella with her!). There was an air conditioning in the room but after few days the owner informed us we had to pay for that!
The breakfast was everyday same, with no cold drink and no cereals which disappointed us as well. The eating area was no air conditioned so imagine eating in 40 degrees. Also noise from Karaoke Bar can be annoying for those who prefer to go to bed before 2 am.
Be prepared that the staff is not so fluent in English which cause inconveniences too.
But I honestly recommend you Skydiving with IKARUS team (just on your way to the beach). It's an amazing experience! Also you must try drinks and food at Cloud 9 !!

Mellis beach is a nice, comfortable, basic hotel, mostly suitable for couples as there isn’t any entertainment for kids. Its the only place I have been where you don’t have to get up early for a sun bed, no matter what time you get up there is always some.
The restaurant in the hotel Sultan Pepper was my favourite out of all the restaurants in the resort, as we were B&B so we ate out every night. The nightlife isn’t bad there are quite a few bars and a couple of clubs on the sea front. Drinks were quite expensive this year it cost around £3 for a vodka, cocktails cost £4 and for a beer it cost around £2.
The Tequila bar which was attached to the hotel was quite good for entertainment as the barmen were always up dancing. The beach there is gorgeous but it had shingle and pebbles instead of sand, which was quite sore on your feet, but most shops sold shoes to wear on the beach that were not too expensive.
The hassle here of the Turks wasn’t too bad compared to other parts of turkey I have been. There is a market in Fethiye on a Tuesday which is worth a visit as you get good deals on clothes etc. There is also a market in Hasaronu which is 5min from olu deniz on a Monday.
A turkish bath is worth a go, you get a really good massage and scrub down, which also helps you get a good tan. Boat trips are also a really good day out it cost roughly £6 each and you get a nice lunch too and drinks. Air conditioning and double beds are also available in the hotel, no fridges though.

Just got back from Olu Deniz and we had a fantastic time it really is a fantastic place, the hotel was excellent basic but clean which is all that matters and there is plenty to do loads of boat trips or you can just hop on a dolmus and go wherever. the staff everywhere are really helpful especially ours at the hotel you can get a bit bothered by people trying to get you into their restaurant but if you just say a firm no then they tend to leave you alone, overall I would recommend this resort to anyone if your going you will have a fantastic time.

We have been holidaying in Olu Deniz for approximately 8 years, and visited the Mellis Beach on the third visit. We have continued to use the Mellis since then, and are going again this year (2008).
We have always been so impressed by the friendliness of both the owners and the staff, who cannot do enough for you when it comes to making you comfortable. The year before last we were invited to the wedding celebrations for the son of one of the cleaners, and it was an experience that we would not have missed for the world.
We prefer a smaller, more personal hotel, and look forward to the same room and sun bed each year!!
We very much enjoy the Sultan Pepper for meals, and also with B & B we are able to sample the delights of the other restaurants both in Olu and Fetiye.
All in all would recommend this hotel to anyone.
