All in all we found this an excellent Hotel. We thought the Hotel had a nice design, it was quiet and relaxing, we had a great week with very few problems, staff was courteous, efficient and friendly all spoke English and could not do enough for us.
We emailed to ask for a room with afternoon sun, we got exactly that.
We had a late flight from Cardiff Wales Airport and arrived at 2AM.on the 9th October 2008, we were greeted by a friendly gentleman.
The Hotel generally is very clean and comfortable it has large rooms and balconies, the food was not at all bad, our only minor complaint in the restaurant was that the Greek specialties were pretty much the same on two nights, minced pork mainly otherwise we had some very nice meals and salads for the rest of our stay, it‘s pretty much down to taste I would say. If you are into burgers fish and chips and pizzas then this hotel is not for you.
Breakfast was little repetitive, cereals, two cooked meats, sliced cheese, frankfurters and scrambled/boiled egg most mornings, Greek honey and yogurt to die for though, lots of fresh fruit on offer also.
The pool bar served a variety of snacks, ice-cream, drinks etc. to suit most tastes.
Although Niriides Beach Hotel would be rated 3 stars in most other European Countries, it is a very pleasant clean and friendly place to stay.
Rooms were cleaned every day, Linen and towels changed daily except Sunday, reception, restaurant and corridors were all very clean.
There was no evening entertainment during our stay but this we didn't mind, very relaxing, I think this was mainly down to the fact that the hotel was closing at the end of October as was most of Kolymbia, many shops and bars were closing or closed as we headed home on the 15th.
We were told we were the only British people ever to visit the Niriides Beach Hotel in October, apparently there had only been 6 British throughout summer 2008.
I speak very little German and a few of the hotel guests mainly German, Swiss, Italian and Austrian spoke excellent English so no problem conversing with the guests.
Yes there are a few cracked tiles around and on steps etc. as one reviewer commented. You should expect a couple of cracks on an island which has occasional earthquake activity.
Weather 8th to 15th of October was amazing mostly sunny 24- 25 C in the day and 18-20C at night with light breezes, we only had one thunderstorm at night.
Although we thought the pool and surrounding area could have been better cared for, the sun beds and patio furniture were very comfortable and lots of them, again this did not spoil our enjoyment.
On leaving, our room should have been vacated by 12 noon, we were told by Katerina the receptionist we could keep our room free of charge until 11.30 PM because the hotel was not full and we were also given a voucher for an evening meal because of our late arrival, we missed our meal on the 8th. Fantastic service more than made up for one or two minor complaints.
Would we stay at this hotel in the future most definitely?

Just returned from Rhodes after staying for a week at the Kolymbia sun hotel. After reading the reports on this hotel we thought that everything was going to be great. But how we were so wrong. The hotel was very basic the food was not only cold but you could guarantee that you would get what was left over from the evening meal would be served up for lunch the next day.
The snacks well what a joke pieces of what looked like bread with cheese and tomato on and biscuits, the boozes that was very weak didn't suffer one hang over all week. The Olympic rep well she was not interested in any complaints that were made to her when she was told about the food we were told that's the way the Greeks like but I am not Greek I complained on the first day that there was no hot water but the staff were rude and not interested.
If it wasn't for the people that we meet (Eric & Ann, Sarah & Sue Barry & Debbie) and not forgetting Jordon and his family, our holiday would be so boring as there was no entertainment at all.

We went to Rhodes with 5 children aged between 8 and 17 on an all inclusive package. The hotel was excellent. It was clean, and well kept. The sheets and towels were changed daily which was a first for us. The staff were extremely helpful. Whenever we needed advice or help they were only too pleased to oblige.
The food was really nice and all 7 of us found some things every meal to enjoy. We were pleasantly surprised by the choice and quality. The waiting staff worked so hard. The pool was a really nice size although it was tricky to get a sun bed after 9.00am. The children enjoyed the use of the internet and used it to occupy themselves in the heat of the day. The rooms were basic but very clean.
The hotel was in a convenient spot close to the shops and beaches without being too noisy. Our only criticism was there was no entertainment at night other than drinking round the bar. We missed the Greek night as it is only on once every 2 weeks so the hotel arranged for us to go by 2 taxis to a hotel further up the coast which was much cheaper than the trip offered by the rep.
Our whole evening including taxis and drinks cost us £60 compared to the £200 for the 7 of us if we had gone with the rep. If you want a all inclusive holiday with plenty to do for adults and children alike in a friendly well kept hotel with good food and drink this is the place to go. We thought that the couples without kids were having a good time too!

If you want a reasonably quiet holiday, at a quiet hotel with no entertainment except a Greek Night once every two weeks, then this is for you. Situated on a busy street, sit and relax and watch the world go by. Lovely quiet (except when we are there) pool area. Excellent friendly staff, food somewhat limited, but cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.
No waiting time at bar (that's got to be a first at an all-inclusive). Room cleanliness A+ every day. As I say if you want a quiet holiday, then this is it. but be warned! Don't go when we are there. After my wife and I went alone in 2004, we took the "gang" with us in 2005 (all 6 of us retired Entertainers/ Musicians). The place bounced, but I hear it's somewhat back to normal now. See you again soon Nick and staff. Get 'em in, it's your shout. (Surely we deserve 'one on the house'). Love you all. John, Jimmy, Phil, Adrienne, Joy, Carol.

When I got to the Kolymbia sun, I thought that the rooms were a little basic but from the first day of staying there I loved it! Strait away the staff were fantastic and really made you feel welcome.
Me and my sister shared a room which had one of the best views of the swimming pool and surrounding areas, we stayed in room 103. I thought that everything was very clean and was kept up well.
Because the staff are so friendly, you get to meet alot of other people through them, we met some really nice people who we went out with nearly every night. If you want a good laugh, statues around the corner is brilliant. We got to know the bar men there and we felt like we'd known each other forever. Still in contact with them all now and wish I could have this holiday all over again!!
Although there is no entertainment in Kolymbia sun, it was nice and relaxing and gave you a chance to have a little kip on your sunbed. Lunch was my favourite, sitting out in the shaded area by the pool, eating the freshly made food was absolute bliss.
Greek night was well worth the effort made by the staff, everyone joined in and the food was out of this world. You could see how much preparing goes into this night.
The staff were lovely and thanks to nick for keeping a few things quiet. Mike you are gorgeous, I hear you have left now but you made the getting up early for breakfast worth while and cant forget about George!
This holiday was so much better than I had hoped for and have already made plans to be staying at the Kolymbia sun again next year.

We were at the Kolymbia Sun Hotel for two weeks 3-18 September 05. We had room 203.
Hotel/ It had everything you could want for a nice holiday. The pool was clean and fairly warm. There were always sunbeds for everyone, if you wanted a particular spot then you put the towels down, but there wasn’t any real need because everyone just stuck to the same sort of area around the pool. There was a nice pool bar that served all day. Airbeds were provided for the sunbeds as they did get a bit uncomfortable by the end of the day. They could also be used in the pool to float around. Plenty of shaded areas to sit in the shade with tables and chairs when it got too hot.
It wasn’t on the beach but a short walk from three beaches, two large ones and a small beach and harbour for small boats. We liked the harbour best, two sunbeds and a brolly was 6 euros for the day, also had one friendly taverna and a toilet and shower facility by the beach. The sea here was clear clean and so clam, shallow and warm. The beach to the right of the harbour was a lot longer and very nice but shingle and quite hard to walk along, you really needed those plastic shoes to go into the sea for fear of cuts, but they are sold in all the shops for about 5 euros. We didn’t go to the other one just for a look but it was a large beach too with another tiny harbour. So you have a nice choice right on your doorstep of three places for a change of scenery.
Food/ Breakfast had everything you could have wanted, cereal, fruit, cheese and hams, bacon eggs beans sausages tomatoes potatoes, rolls bread jams and honey and more. No toast or toast machines but we did not miss that.
Lunch/ was always served outside beside the pool bar, there were always chips. There would be pasta in some form, meat or fish and some veg, also a few sort of salad things, bread and fruit.
Dinner/ was always started by being served the soup of the day by the waiter, we found the soup always tasty but not home made. Again a good choice of the usual main course. Dessert there was always about three choices of fruit and a pudding like Baklava or cake. I can honestly say that all the food I had was hot and very tasty, the beef/lamb/pork would melt on your mouth. It was a change not to have the usual masses of dishes you usually get to choose from in a hotel, meaning you are seated with a plate so stacked and of such a mixture every dinner has the same mixed taste and becomes boring. I could not fault the food at all.
Greek night/ the food on this night was fantastic. All the stops are pulled out for this night that only happens every two weeks. Hot and cold buffet laid out as if it was a Greek wedding. A night to remember.
Drinks at the bar flow all day from 10am till 12pm. There are a few snacks around during the day but they are not really needed as you are usually full after the meals.
Our room was basic but clean. I agree that it could have done with being updated, but everything worked and there was space to move. The sheets were changed almost every day and so were the towels. We left our room for breakfast and returned at 6pm to shower and get ready for the evening dinner then we would go for a walk and go back to the room at midnight or later and collapse to sleep.
We were hardly in it. The hotel is very laid back and homely that you don’t have to keep getting dressed to move around in and out or up or down. As lunch was served by the pool bar you could just wander over from your sunbed just needing to put on your shorts or something to have a relaxed meal.
This hotel has the friendliest staff I have ever had in a hotel. There aren’t many of them and they work so very hard. They were always so happy to see you and help. Christine is English and was so helpful on local information and nothing was too much trouble for her, she worked so hard at the pool bar and was a sheer delight. Nick always had a smile for you at all the meal times and was also lovely to have around all day again working far too hard. George was their younger handsome side kick we all adored.
By the time you leave you feel like you are leaving family behind.
The hotel has no entertainment except the Greek night that is once every two weeks. This is not to be missed, the food is smashing and the live Greek music and Greek dancers were great. The staff decorate the tables and the pool area and everyone has a terrific time. With no entertainment you find you talk to all the other guests, but not in the way that you are afraid to go anywhere in case you get caught and trapped by them, it is all very friendly and laid back you almost end up feeling like a large family doing your own thing. We had a wonderful time and met some smashing people.
You are a few minutes walk from the main street with some very nice open-air bars, shops and restaurants. Statues, Heaven and Memories are all very friendly. We went to beautiful Lindos by local bus 1.70e, also Rhodes town by local bus 2.70e. There is a lovely beach 10 mins on the bus called Tsimbuko or something we spent the day there. The trip to Simi Island is worth doing and cost 25e at the first tour shop in the high street. All trips are cheaper there than with the rep. Temperatures were 30 in the shade the whole time we were there. Do take plenty of mozzie stuff as some people were eaten alive. I used the Avon for the first time Skin So Soft/ Soft and Fresh also a small spray bottle from Boots I put in 8-9 drops of pure citronella and about half an egg cup of water and carried it with me to spray my ankles and arms in the evening , we had two mozzie plugs in the room and bought a insect mozzie spray locally for 3e and sprayed the room each evening as we backed out of the door. It worked for us. We had a pick up time to leave the hotel at 3.30am we paid 40euros to kept the room on and kept it until 3am, all other hotel’s have thrown us out of our room at 6pm before dinner so you have to hang around waiting all night.
We had a super time at this hotel and would highly recommend it for those looking for a happy, relaxed, friendly well catered for holiday in a nice hotel that doesn’t break the bank. Couldn’t thank them enough, I felt like I had a good long holiday break and felt refreshed at the end. Not for people that like luxury and perfection. One day we hope to go back again.

Stayed here for 2 weeks inclusive (our first and last)during August 2005. There was 2 of us. I have just started to review all of our holidays and trips so sorry for this being so late. This hotel may have improved since then...
The hotel is a short stroll away from a pleasant slightly shingle beach across the road.
The food was similar every day and the evening meal left-overs were served up in a sort of salad the next day with the remaining beetroot which turned the whole disgusting concoction into a cherise-coloured mess. This was served with salad and fries outside for lunch.
The resort of Kolympia is not overly attractive with a few restaurants and shops. It appears slighty run-down. It is fairly peaceful though if that's what you require from your holiday.
The rooms were standard and ok. We had a view of the hotel complex and swimming pool. A sea view would have been nicer.
The staff (local waiters)seemed only interested in chatting up the single woman on holiday. The women threw themselves at one who sported an enormous wooden crucifix! Entertaining! This waiter always seemed exhausted and grumpy the next day. The young woman serving drinks behind the outside bar outside was pleasant and had a demanding role serving the British holiday makers whose behaviour and attitude was something to be desired at times.
The majority of the clientele of this hotel were loud and tacky people who sat around outside drinking the poor wine and weak alchoholic drinks all day. This was one consideration that tarnished our stay here. The atmosphere was sometimes tense because of drunken behaviour and attitudes from other guests.
We hired a moped for a week and saw nearly ALL of the island and its historical sites which was a brilliant idea as it got us out of the hotel complex. We visited Rhodes town twice (which was dull but had a large casle which had been over-restored by the Italians). The second week we got a bus and did a couple of tours to the water amusement park near Faliraki and another on a boat trip to the island of Symi. This trip was terrible. It took hours to get there and the Greek woman in charge of the boat kept waking all the passengers up telling them off for sleeping! By the time of arrival I was fed up. The island is small. The pretty harbour town is worth a look but not for the length of time that we had there. 1 hour would have been enough. We booked these trips through the Olympic rep. Afterwards we regretted this as we could have booked them cheaper independently else where in the town where there are numerous adverts for day trips.
Well, I can say I have been to Rhodes and also Kos and prefer Kos. I think this holiday has definately put me off ever visiting the Greek islands again for some time..
