We booked our holiday through one on the £9.99 deals through the Sun newspaper. When we arrived we were given our chalet keys even though we had arrived a couple of hours early. The accommodation was basic but was clean and met our needs for a short stay. Unusually for... more

I read the reviews here before I went, and we very nervous about what I was going to find, but it was actually a great weekend! Yes, the rooms are a little shabby, yes, the 'entertainment' is a bit cheesy, but you get what you pay for. We had a perfectly functional... more

The brochure states '16 modern chalets in the ground of an old manor house' very idyllic we thought. The first thing that hit us when we opened the door was the stench, a sort of cross between 50 years of fag smoke and 50 years of damp. There were two settees that were so... more

Just back from a 1 week stay. I have stayed at John Fowler in Perranporth (great) before and also St Ives (OK) but I really didn't like this park. It was very big with a LOT of accommodation all crammed together. Our chalet was one of the older ones.. We paid £545 and it... more

Just returned from the John Fowler park at Ilfracombe. We stayed in the Manor House and it was absolutely awful! We arrived at 8pm after being told you could collect keys up to 10.30, we had to queue at the crowded bar to check in. The room was disgusting and stank of... more

Myself and my family have just returned from our holiday. We cut our weeks holiday short by 4 days as the standard in the chalet was so bad. The chalet was cold, damp and smelly. It smelt of animals and the toilet of stale urine. My 3 year old got a bad chesty cough... more

We initially booked for the week staying at the Golden Coast Holiday Park in one of their Apartments. We realised that by the time we had got there it would be time to pack up as you only stay for 4 nights, if you opt for the basic Sun Holiday. We decided to travel down on... more

We stayed in a Bronze chalet for the 1st May bank holiday. I had picked the chalet as it had a bath and allowed smokers - both a rarity! Check in is limited to between 4pm and 7pm so the queues were large but the reception staff efficient so only waited about 10 minutes.... more

I had to add a comment, seeing as there is nothing much than negativity here. I have been to a few John Fowler sites over the years and found this to be one of the most enjoyable. I came here with my partner and 6 children. We found the park to be pleasant, well maintained... more

I was quite surprised after reading the comments about this place, I thought it would be awful but I have just returned from Ilfracombe and I thought it was lovely. I have to admit that the camp is a bit crowded, apparently they have just had the whole place renovated and... more

We went to John Fowlers in Ilfracombe last year and were not impressed. The chalet was ok, but very cold. It was extremely expensive and we were skint halfway through the holiday and had to stay in the very cold chalet. The beds are tiny and this was a bit of a pain for... more

The chalet was dirty, and stank of animals. Beds were uncomfortable. No facilities on site, the only thing there was for small children, no entertainment for older children and teenagers. Rowdy neighbours, keeping us up all night, rubbish all over the floor, no... more
