Just returned from a week in Val T, reading all the complaints I was surprised when I got there. Yes the accomodation is tight but no more so than is to be expected. Room was neat and clean, shower powerfull with plenty of hot water, heated towel rail.
The location is ideal as you can ski straight out of the ski room door straight down to the lifts. Supermarket upstairs is very handy for picking up supplies, the hotel restaurant is also good.
Room had a good balcony with fantastic views of the mountains. Check in was a bit of a nightmare with lots of people arriving at the same time and reception struggling to cope.
One downside is that the hotel is right at the bottom of the resort with most of the bars and restaurants located at the top so is a bit of a walk after a hard days skiing.
- Advice: Perfect location, Val T has great skiing and atmosphere.

I paid extra for the 'recently refurbished appartment'. for the extra money, the front door lock, the shower and the kitchen sink tap were broken.
Service was lowsy - a member of our party had an accident, and despite about a dozen requests over a 24 hour period, reception could not help with faxing the medical report. He had to walk 20 mins to tourist info with a broken arm to send the fax.
The bedroom was about 6'x9' - just big enough for the bunk bed and the single tp be placed in an L-shape. No floor space. The Lounge / dining / kitchen / bedroom had a dropside table and foldaway chairs. No chance of opening the sofabed until everything had been folded away.
The location was OK for skiing, but it was quite a distance from the town centre. We had a hire car and thought we would be able to use it, but we had to park it 2 buses away for 60 euros. The resort itself is large, and felt overdeveloped. Getting around is not easy - off peak, there are only 2 buses an hour.
We have skied at Courcheval, Les Menuires and Meribel in the last few years, and earlier in Jan 2011 at Les Deux Alpes. There are a few places we have returned to 3 or 4 times, but I can't see myself using any P&V residence again, nor for that matter returning to Val thorens.
- Advice: Stay at Les Menuires instead.

we have stayed with our children at this complex for the last 5 or 6 years. basic room facilities although adequate, excellent position on the slopes. the last time we stayed there someone got into our room using a key, stole a lot of our belongings - cameras, mobile phones, i-pods, nintendo ds, sat nav....and locked the door on the way out.the police and hotel locksmith all said it must have been someone from the hotel as access was with a key. the doors have security locks fitted and they can only be accessed with a pass key, therefore it must have been someone from the hotel. the hotel refuses to take any responsibility as they say there is no proof..another room was entered across the corridor from us in the same way, on the same day and had similar items stolen. needless to say our children were terrified of staying there and we had to put their mattresses on the floor by our beds and barricade the door before they could sleep at night. pierre et vacances gave us £100 as a 'goodwill gesture'. we have been loyal customers but will not stay there again and would not recommend the accommodation due to their lack of interest and responsibility with what happened to us.

I have been in 3 Valleys before, however first time staying in Val Thorens.
Was woried about all the negative reviews before travelling - but not as bad upon arrival.
Rooms are basic simple French style. Rooms were tight but neat and tidy. Balcony overlooking the slopes and wonderful views. Ski in and out no problems.
Place can be very noisy -- had a lot of Dutch and French -- partying late into the night. Walls are very thin -- so you hear everything.
Rubbish was left lying around the place from all the partying -- but in fairness the cleaners were about early removing these!
Security never left the front desk to "supervise" the French law of no noise policy after 10!
Complex at the bottom of the town - so you have to walk up hill -- not too much of a problem.
There is a small supermarket and ski hire in the complex which makes life easier.
One downside was that the lifts did not work all the time -- on a few occasions only 2 were operating during peak times -- bit of a pain, but you could always use the stairs!
There are some lovely French restaurants up in the town and staff were very friendly. Bit pricey, but nice selections and also portion sizes.
The Frog and Roastbeef pub at the top of town has all the craic and matches on TV to keep the most atdent skiier happy!
Would stay there again.
